According to the Kansas City Star, Chiefs defensive end Jared Allen was pulled over earlier this week by Leawood cops and charged yesterday with driving under the influence (Photo source here).
And from the Kansas City Star today, we grab some more details:
Why didn't Jared Allen just grab an area high school kid who could have told him NOT to speed in Kansas AND could tell him where the cops sit? Too bad and more to come on this later. Allen seems to have a rough and tumble attitude, which is totally fine, but not when it steps over the line. In the meantime, until I finish some laundry and get something to eat, write up your own diary and make sure you've created an account for Arrowhead Pride.
Hat tip to the Fanhouse for the story.

Big Bummer
It's a big bummer for Allen. He is on diversion for the first one, so that is likely blown. He will definitely lose his license & possibly spend a weekend in jail.I don't get it! These guys could take taxis or limos wherever they go. DUI's are completely cost-prohibitive but I guess not for these guys.
I am just pissed at him right now.
I was thinking he is the guy who would represent the Chiefs in the community - as a stand up guy, etc. . . .
It's just really disappointing.
Cheers!

If you google jared allen and
dig around a bit, you'll find in some interviews that he can be a rough guy who doesn't always make the best decisions.Chris Thorman - September 30, 2006
jared allen dui
has anyone wondered why the overland park police drove jared home and didnt drive him to jail or tow his car to the tow lot. wonder how many autographs it cost him for the delux treatment from overland park police. i would be extremely interested in hearing if he serves any time since his status symbol with the chiefs . if that was anyone else they would have been delivered to the jail and spent the rest of the time until a judge would post bail but since jared was a chief overland park police gave him special treatment. wonder if they do that to all the dui that they pull over.jackson - October 8, 2006
jared allen
this is what i thought would happened with jared it would be put on the back burner since he is a celebrity in kansas city. King carl is condoning this whole subject with jared no suspension or nothing i would hope the nfl would want to see this handle equally with other football jocks who has dui especiallly 2 within a year. Now all of a sudden the radio and tv are honoring jared for his dui by holding charities with jared heading them in hopes the citizens of kc will forget the dui where are the mothers against drunk drivers at.jackson - October 19, 2006
