Hey everyone, I've barely taken a look at what's going on with the AP Draft Guide but I will later today. Perhaps we can figure out a front page game plan for it. Thanks.
You know, I love Kent Babb but I think it is far too early to write this article- Chiefs’ offensive line becomes a force to reckon with. As fans here on AP, we can't let ourselves be convinced of the Chiefs' long term efficacy by three good offensive games that we ultimately lost. Plus, I'd chalk up most of the "success" of the offensive line to Tyler Thigpen.
And I really only disagree with title. I would substitute "improved" for "a force to be reckoned with."***
A completely off-topic, mini-rant...
Miss Arrowhead Pride will become Mrs. Arrowhead Pride sometime next year and I'm already discovering how insane this wedding stuff can be. In fact, if you take Dwight Eisenhower's farewell speech, and replace "military" with "wedding", it reads just the same!
"Now this conjunction of an immense wedding establishment and a large wedding industry is new in the American experience. The total influence -- economic, political, even spiritual -- is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet, we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources, and livelihood are all involved. So is the very structure of our society."
Enjoy your Friday everyone.

Congratulations
On the nuptuals. It’ll only get worse as the wedding day approaches, but on the other hand I’m told it gets better immediately after it’s all done with.

Thanks UC
I’m thinking about taking up smoking again.
Chris Thorman - November 14, 2008
You Don't Want To Do That
Because of the cost, if nothing else. Drinking is relatively cheaper and makes your clothes stink less. :)
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
True true
Oddly enough, someone from theknot.com is a regular reader here. I can see it on the site stats.

Congratulations.....you have no idea what your getting yourself into....
Go run away bride (except its the groom) while you still can…..J/K
Few words of consolation ….Yup…its only gonna get worse, 5 years of adjustment :) That’s what a priest once told me when I first got married, and strangely enough he was right. After that it gets a whole lot better, especially when you guys decide to have kids. :-) Good luck man, I’m happy for you two!

Congrats Chris
It will get more stressful as you get closer, but I don’t know if there is a more relaxing feeling than right afterward… a true weight is lifted. Lol…
Also, it helps if you let the Bride do as much as possible. Lol… (you didn’t hear that from me)
bigknoxy - November 14, 2008
Congrats Chris
What happened to the common law engagement? That was brilliant!
Joel Thorman - November 14, 2008
We concur
Also, how’s your all white suit coming primetime? Will address in the PARADEBULATION.
Official Arrowhead Pride Parade - November 14, 2008
Will address in the PARADEBULATION
I mentioned this comment to Miss Arrowhead Pride and was unable to pronounce PARADEBULATION.
Can we get a phonetic spelling please?

Whitlock's article
is trash. He does not provide any real support for his claims. Moreover, many of the coaches on his “10 worst” list probably are really really coaches (e.g., Andy Reid). Whitlock seems to be losing it.
pleaseblock - November 14, 2008
Agreed On Half
His support for his claims was extremely weak. Although I agree with him about Andy Reid.
Shanahan, to my mind, is still a good coach, just a terrible, terrible GM who can’t draft a good football team and that’s what’s killing him. It’s a distinction I think Whitlock should have made.

Congrats Chris!
Here’s a hint. Plan some food and drink to be in your hotel room after the wedding. You won’t have time to eat at the reception, despite the best laid plans.
If I’d have had the foresight to have a pizza and some cold beers waiting in the room when we got back from the reception- I’d have been a genius!
Enjoy the planning!

Elope
Trust me.
Your father in law to be will approve, too

That's The Way To Go
In the unlikely event I should ever decide to sacrifice my personal freedom, eloping is the way to go so long as the bride can be talked into it without it causing long-term resentment.
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
My Dad wanted us to elope
I remember he offered $5000 if we would just go and elope. I just couldn’t bring myself to do it, my mother would have killed me. =)
tevans96 - November 14, 2008
When I Was A Kid
My folks and my aunts and uncles were all talking about me, my sibs and the cousins and they all agreed that I was most likely to elope if I ever got married. I think I was about 10 at the time. :)

theknot.com
Boy is that site a life saver or what! We used that resource a lot in planning our wedding, I got very lucky and married a girl who HATES to shop and didn’t want to spend a huge amount so ours was relativly easy.
Funny that the best part of that day was getting in the limo to leave, I could finally relax an breath.
Congrats Chris!
tevans96 - November 14, 2008
Classic
Alright, let me be the first to say congratulations to then. You get one vagina for the rest of your life. Real smart Chris. Way to work it through.

Yowch!!!
Unexpectedly harsh words from (I’m assuming) one of the few females on the AP message boards.
Funny though…nice work. :)
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
I've been thinking the whole time
If “Asleylat” is a chick, she’s damn funny
+1 to cool Chiefs fans
KansasCityShuffle - November 14, 2008
Sorry to disappoint
I’m a guy…Ashley is one of those unisex names.
Word of advice…don’t give your son a unisex name.
ashleylat - November 14, 2008
Why Don't You Just Go By "Ash" Then?
Ash is a cool name…the name of the coolest of all of Bruce Campbell’s ultra-cool film characters, in fact.
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
Most people call me Ash
ashleylat - November 14, 2008
Smart Choice :)
Not too many guy’s I’ve heard of outside of “Gone With The Wind” who’ll admit their name is Ashley. :)
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
I think of it like a 401k
Sure, you’re doing with less than you could have while you’re young, but you’re guaranteeing you will at least get SOME when you’re older.
ChiefDJ - November 14, 2008
LOL!!
nice analogy.
bigknoxy - November 14, 2008
Definitely
Very well put. :)
UCrawford - November 14, 2008
hmmm
my wife didn’t give me that guarantee
Lanier63 - November 14, 2008
doh!
You mean that isn’t included in the papers you sign…? doh!
bigknoxy - November 14, 2008
Mazel tov, Chris!
What folks are saying is true…wedding planning is universally not fun. In fact, I think it’s the true test of a relationship. If you can survive the wedding, the marriage will be fine.
Two points of advice:
1) Plan some “alone time” at the beginning of the reception. Eccles and I had a blissful 10-15 minutes to ourselves with adult beverages and a platter of hors d’oeurves while we literally locked ourselves in a separate room with a good friend on guard outside the door. Best decision we made, plus it guarantees you get some food on your stomach.
2) I don’t think I need to say this, but DO NOT get married during Chiefs season if you can avoid it. Bye week is okay, but don’t hold the ceremony during a game or else you will have guests with radios and handheld TVs, getting shushed by your officiant (this actually happened at my best friend’s wedding). We were forced to have our first wedding in October, but we managed to plan it around the schedule much to my family’s relief…and ours. Though I think Eccles’ family is still confused about why we were so insistent on the timing.
Anyway, happy times are soon to be yours. Marriage rocks and Miss AP is a lucky gal. Congrats!

But wasn’t that your dad?
sir eccles - November 14, 2008
Gotta love
the beer glove jokes that are still floating around. They will never get old.
Congratulations Chris!
Ben S - November 14, 2008
Congratulations!
With 38 years experience, I’ll tell you this. Best thing that ever happened to me, even though marriage is the biggest challenge you will ever have. It gets better and better each year, then it sucks, then it gets better and better, then it really sucks, then it gets….you get the point. The key is to never accept defeat or give up.
It is a lot like being a Chief’s fan. You just give your very best support , acceptance and love, even though you won’t always agree. The best thing you can do is just accept her the way she is, enjoy the ride (leterally and figuratively), and hope that sometimes it goes your way!
