Jay Zygmunt was the Rams' President and General Manager so his dismissal leaves behind holes to fill similar to Carl Peterson's departure.
In addition to the Chiefs and Rams, what other jobs will be available?
Detroit
Matt Millen was tossed to the curb after seven years earlier this season. His replacement has yet to be named. Candidates include all the usual suspects: Pioli, Cowher and even in-house candidate Martin Mayhew.
Cleveland
No decisions have been made/announced regarding the future of Phil Savage. Coach Romeo Crennel's future is certainly in doubt as well. This isn't the first time Savage's job has been in danger but it's the first time since this email. The question here is whether Crennel's successes and failures should be tied to Savage successes and failures?
San Francisco
Although Mike Nolan never held the official title of GM, he was long assumed to be the main controller behind player personnel. HIs departure earlier this season leaves the question of whether a long-term GM will be hired. The current man, Scot McCloughan, was hired in January of this year.

Nolan was the de facto GM there…McCloughan was the director of player personnel brought on board at the same time as Nolan but Nolan made the drafting decisions. They stripped Nolan of that authority this offseason and just made him the head coach, then created a GM position and put McCloughan into it.

That the Niners will be keeping Singletary as head coach. And if so they’ll probably keep McCloughan at least for one more year.

If you combine the Savage e-mail situation with the whole staph infection issue that Savage tried to keep quiet and the resigning of Derek Anderson (and his subsequent failure) as well as the problems with the team in general, I’m pretty sure Savage gets the axe right after the season. That Cleveland team imploded and Savage has helped contribute to that.
Crennel’s gone too.

Most of it boils down to the QB situation IMO. If Anderson had panned out (which his past history pretty much said it wouldn’t over the course of a season) then Cleveland would at least be competitive for the playoffs at this point.

Didn't Help That Brady Quinn Had One Decent Game
Then got hurt badly enough to put him out for the year.
I had Quinn starting on my fantasy team that first week and watched the game…what I saw was a capable game manager who reminded me more of Trent Dilfer or Kerry Collins than Peyton Manning.

Is Savage's success
tied to Brady Quinn or did that go out the window with Derek Anderson not panning out?
If it’s Quinn, then he might have a shot at coming back. Remember, Romeo Crennel already announced Quinn as the starter in 2009 :)

Anderson’s implosion definitely hurt his credibility. If Savage comes back I think he gets one more year. If Quinn flops next season I think he’s absolutely gone.
And Crennel’s not coming back. I don’t know of anyone who thinks he’s doing a bang-up job there.

Let’s throw the name Chris Mora into the hat. He thought about leving the Giants for Atlanta last year but changed his mind. Wellington’s one of sons, strong scouting background (ran a scouting organization for NFL teams for a time). Obviously an impeccable NFL pedigree…
