Morning Update (Doldrums Edition)

The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their final three days of off-season activities, starting today. The final OTA will take happen on Thursday, June 12th on the campus of Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, MO. Let us know if you're heading to St. Joe for that. It would be great to have another set of pictures come in, like mikvogel did for the mini-camp.

Arrowhead Addict and The Landry Hat are going back and forth over who is the NFL's best tight end. Hint: It sure as hell isn't Jason Witten.

Former Cowboys QB Quincy Carter actually made a move up to the Kansas City Brigade, the local Arena league team.

This is one of the odder headines you'll read today - Kevin Costner was a Chiefs fan in his youth.

Former Chiefs WR Samie Parker is happy to be a Denver Bronco.

Because he's a moron, RB Cedric Benson was cut by the Chicago Bears yesterday.

Between the last set of off-season activities and training camp in July, this may be the most extreme downtime we'll see this year as far as actual Kansas City Chiefs news. But fear not! We'll be pumping out (somewhat) interesting and (sort of) exciting articles until the season starts. In fact, I'll tease you a bit and say we've got another great interview (hopefully) lined up. You'll really like this one too...

I think you can make a very good case for him being the best tight end in the NFC. If it hadn’t been for his injury issues last season I think the AFC’s best tight end would clearly have been Antonio Gates (who was basically putting up wide receiver numbers). Overall, I think Tony G’s still had the best career of all active tight ends, but he was second-best in the AFC last year behind Kellen Winslow (about 2 yards per catch less than Winslow with the same number of TDs). This year, if Antonio Gates stays healthy, I suspect he’ll be the third best in the AFC.

No disrespect to Tony G intended.

I'd still rather have Tony G.

Tony G doesn’t make silly mistakes. Kellen Winslow had two fumbles last year, and Gonzales had none.

Of course he’s happy to be a Bronco…they were the only team stupid enough to give him a job after the terrible job he did here. He should be happy to be a Lion if they gave him a contract.

You know who shouldn’t be happy? The Denver fans. Except for Neil Smith, how many ex-Chiefs have ever performed well for them as players?
