What Cassel's injury has probably assured Chiefs's fans

  1. Barry Richardson will be benched in favor of Jared Gaither for the rest of the season. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this were Richardson's last season as a Chief and if that's the case I don't have a problem with that.
  2. The Chiefs will draft an OT in the first round of the draft, I have us picking somewhere between 10 - 15 in the draft, so one should fall to us. If one doesn't seem like it will, don't be surprised to see or hear rumors of Pioli trying to trade up a couple of spots to grab one. The only possible thing that will stop this from happening is if Gaither turns out to be the beast he was in Baltimore.

Or the Chiefs go 4-12

draft inside the top 10 and pick a QB first, which is what they should do, imo.

447,

Yup…I seriously doublt we win another game this season, and I’d love for us to draft a franchise-level QB!

switch back to a 4-3 defense nd get trent richardson nd a new qb nd tht would be a great offense i mean charles nd trent richardson

Chiefs need to draft a QB before OT

You think Cassel’s hands are that precious that Pioli would take an OT to protect Cassel instead of drafting a real QB?

Cassel was hit 12 times yesterday

And who knows how many times this season.

What’s the point of drafting a QB if he can’t get protection? He’ll be gone halfway through the season like Cassel.

Cassel gets hit alot because he can't recognize the blitz, too slow to get rid of the ball, find the hot read, and moves into traffic in the pocket instead of away from it

It’s been shown that he took more than 3 times more sacks than Brady behind the same O-line in NE. a lot of blame for a QB taking a hit has to fall on his ability to avoid the hit, get the ball out faster, etc. Cassel just doesn’t have the QB IQ or ability/talent whatever you want to call it.

Cassel can sense pressure in the pocket, if there is anything he's done lately it's that, and it isn't like he doesn't try to not get sacked, how about getting him some time so he doesn't have to?

Have you ever considered though that maybe he’s too slow to get rid of the ball because no one is getting open? Not like the receivers don’t drop the ball anyway.

He was rookie in New England wasn’t he? What do you really expect? Especially comparing him to Brady, what the heck kind of comparison is that? That even fair towards Cassel, at least be realistic.

Cassel is running for his life out there on the field, he’s trying his best to avoid the hit, but it would be nice if he had more than 2 or 3 seconds before the line gets manhandled, what receiver will have time to get open that quickly? The offensive line is the problem just as much as Cassel is, recognize that.

Hell

The line is even more to blame than Cassel because of their inability to consistently open up running lanes. They’re inadequate in not just pass protection, but without Jamaal making them look good apparently they’re inadequate in run blocking as well.

Cassel wasn't a rookie in NE

i think he was in his 3rd or 4th year

IF Gaither can turn out to be solid again

KC could still draft a RT or LG in the first 3 rounds and have a SOLID OL

I’d be pretty happy with a draft that included RGIII in the first and an OL in the 2nd

OL, QB, and RB are really the three major holes left.

everything else is depth

might need another NT, if Gregg doesnt’ come back

I actually don’t believe RB is a “hole”

with JC back, it’s a strength

Jamaal isn't guaranteed to come back the same player

It would be smart to grab a guy like Monty Ball, Chris Polk, or LaMichael James in the mid rounds.

I’m not buying Battle as anything more than a half-game fill in.

Really?

You wouldn’t do anything to the defense? Just run it the way it is?

Thought we had this discussion already.

Could it be?

That we were spoiled with one of the best o lines in football history at the start of the century that anything worse is not good enough.
