The Kansas City Chiefs fired Todd Haley on December 13th and we haven't heard much from him since then. He issued a statement after he was let go, appeared on ESPN's Audibles show and also did a spot on Yahoo! Sports Radio earlier this week.
We've been wondering where he'll end up and the most talked about spot for him is the Arizona Cardinals. Reports say there's some interest between the two but that's it -- just some interest. No contract offers or anything like that (yet) from Arizona.
And now ESPN's Adam Schefter has some legit news on Haley -- he's visiting the New York Jets. Schefter reports Haley is visiting New York today and the Jets could (not will -- could) pair him with Tony Sparano as the offensive coordinator and Haley as the assistant head coach, replacing Brian Schottenheimer.
Haley, of course, was in New York back in the late '90s when Bill Parcells was there.
Thoughts on Haley potentially landing in New York?

Could care less...Haley will make little impact
CHIEFFAN82 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
you need a stellar QB and WR to run Haley's system
CHIEFFAN82 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Or he needs players that make him look good
because he has an inability to adjust his “system” to the talent he has. He’s overrated as an OC but from what 610 was saying this morning, Sparano would be OC and he would be an assistant and assistant HC.
That Jets team is just going to implode.
Fozzyboyd - January 11, 2012
I doubt it
Ryan, Haley, and Sparano are all good coaches.
Haley + Sparano >>>> Schotty
Nick Britt - January 11, 2012
I would say Ryan is a good defensive mind, not sure if he is a good HC with the way their team is going.
Sparano is a good OC but I don’t think Haley is. He was given a system already in place with a HOF QB and a potential HOF WR plus 2 other good WR (Breaston and Boldin). He took over playcalling mid-season after Whisenhunt had everything in place. Then he did nothing more than call the plays already made in a system already made. He’s no Norv Turner, Chan Gailey, Charlie Weis, etc. Until he proves it on his own somewhere, he is overrated.
Fozzyboyd - January 11, 2012
they believe they are getting Peyton Manning!
worc - January 11, 2012
I thought we were getting Peyton Manning?
Come on Pioli!
CHIEFFAN82 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
We totally are...
stupid Jets.
NJ Chiefs Fan - January 11, 2012
Hell yeah!
It would only be a matter of time before Haley loses it and bitch slaps Rex Ryan on the sideline. I’m all for it.
TheScootness - January 11, 2012
Scoot, I'd pay to see that
upamtn - January 11, 2012
Todd and Rex
In a catchweight fight in the octagon on the 50 yard line!
Eric Allen - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Oh God Yes.
I was very “meh…” about Todd going to the Jets until you brought that up. Now I desperately want it to happen.
TwelfthMan - January 11, 2012
You're all over it this morning, Joel
Nothing against Haley, but I’m not sure what teaming both him and Sparano together will do for the team. I can see one or the other, but this seems like a classic case of too many chefs in the soup. Maybe they’re trying to give Rex more free time to run his mouth.
Chief Willie Wildcat - January 11, 2012
too many chefs spoil the soup?
neiowakcfan - January 11, 2012
Absolutlely
fantastic. It will make the Jets even more psycho.
chiefs63 - January 11, 2012
Is this where sexy rexy
Will learn it is his qb, not the coordinatoor? Matt Cassel 2.0.
Eric Allen - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Todd's a really smart guy
He’ll do well.
He did a lot for the KC community while he was here and took us to the playoffs. Good luck, Todd.
MichaelMantastic - January 11, 2012
I gotta agree with this...
I think Todd is a good coach. I liked him when he was here, and defended him even until he was fired. Once some stuff started coming up about how he was handling things with Pioli it made sense that it wasn’t just one guy. Those two were at a stalemate with each other. You can’t blame one without blaming the other.
I think with our injuries it was just more than he could handle. Sure his personality is grating on people, but I think he’s a good coach. And I think with the right players he’d be a very good OC. I wish him the best.
KCTigerChief - January 11, 2012
Yeah...not sure why all the Haley hate.
It didn’t work out here. So? Life of an NFL coach.
He’ll land on his feet, and do just fine.
Scott B. - January 11, 2012
Todd was good the last time he had a real QB.
HIV 2 Elway - January 11, 2012
I second that one
A “real QB”. All the good teams have one.
Scott B. - January 11, 2012
New York Jets, not Giants.
severn58 - January 11, 2012
Hue Jackson next offensive coordinator of the KC chiefs. Putting it out there
porkchop_sandwiches - January 11, 2012
Rather have Al Saunders.
Not sure there is room in Arrowhead for Jackson’s big mouth.
Fozzyboyd - January 11, 2012
Rather have Bill fucking Muir
Nick Britt - January 11, 2012
Than Saunders or Jackson?
Fozzyboyd - January 11, 2012
I'd rather have Muir than Jackson, too
Jackson is the black Rex Ryan
MattHoover - January 11, 2012
A bad ass coach?
HIV 2 Elway - January 11, 2012
Ryan's not a badass, he's just bad
upamtn - January 11, 2012
ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LadyChief - January 11, 2012
So? Rex Ryan was fine as the Ravens' DC.
It was only when he became the Jets’ head coach that his mouth became an issue.
MtHammer - January 11, 2012
How many AFC Championships has he been to?
When was the last time the Chiefs made it to one of those?
Tarkus - January 11, 2012
Two and 1993, respectively. How irrelevant are both of those questions to what I just said?
Very.
I didn’t say he was the world’s most god-awful head coach of all time and had no idea what he was doing. I said his mouth is an issue. And it is. He loves writing checks his team can’t cash and giving everyone on the planet bulletin board material to use against them.
You know what? Bill Belichick’s tendency to occasionally tape other teams practices is an issue. Marty Shottenheimer’s seeming inability to win the big one is an issue. Andy Reid’s clock management is an issue. The amount of time Mike Tomlin has to spend filming 20+ new episodes of House, M.D. every year is an issue. Even great coaches have flaws. Now, I happen to think that all those men are better coaches than Rex Ryan, but that’s beside the point.
Here’s the point: Hue Jackson’s mouth was a bit of an issue when he was the guy in Oakland. It wouldn’t be here.
MtHammer - January 11, 2012
That wasn't really directed at you.
Just kind of a summary for the entire subthread.
Tarkus - January 11, 2012
Ha
If House needs a ratings boost maybe Tomlin could bring some players along for cameos now that the Steelers are in the offseason.
TheScootness - January 11, 2012
I think most Chiefs fans still respect Haley, and what he did here, and understand that if he gets his antics under control can be a damn good coach, so I personally at least wish him the best of luck in helping other players realize their talents
Topchief1 - January 11, 2012
Good idea
He will get those receivers set straight. Watch out Holmes!
kc_okerix - January 11, 2012
With all the locker room turmoil that team has, to bring in a personality like Haley?
Risky move by them.
m.yashi - January 11, 2012
Players are going to be riding pine, bunch of cry babies anyways.
porkchop_sandwiches - January 11, 2012
No, SMART move
He and Sparano will bring the type of discipline these pseudostars need. I can just imagine Haley in Santonio’s face right now!
MattHoover - January 11, 2012
I hate this move and love this move all at the same time
I hate it because I hate Rex Ryan and the Jets. I love it because it’s a great opportunity for Haley. And Haley’s style of discipline is exactly what the Jets need. He could be the equalizer in that locker room that doesn’t put up with Santonio-style bullshit. He & Sparano in charge of the offense? That’s actually pretty frightening.
And look at it this way – when the Jets ownership gets tired of Rex’s big mouth, Todd Haley could be next in line to be the Head Coach. He’d come full circle back in New York. Would be a great story.
People in KC will hate on him, but I don’t think it’s warranted. The guy got the young nucleus of the team we have now to become great players. He helped draft some good players in 2010 and 2011. He didn’t have the time to mold a championship caliber team and had just straight up bad luck with the injuries and it wasn’t meant to be between he and Pioli, but he gave us a division title, a playoff game, great entertainment on the sidelines, and left us in good shape for the future. Plus, from what I read, he was great in the community. Honestly, it’s less fun being a Chiefs fan without him, win or lose. I really love and appreciate the guy for his time here and will be a fan of his through his entire career.
MattHoover - January 11, 2012
Only fair, they gave us Herm, we should give them Haley.
Fozzyboyd - January 11, 2012
+1
besides
Honestly, it’s less fun being a Chiefs fan without himneiowakcfan - January 11, 2012
I only wish we could get a 1st rd pick for him
THAT would be full circle.
reedeasy - January 11, 2012 via Android app
Agreed on all points here

TheScootness - January 11, 2012
Say what you want
Haley will be a good fit for NY, and He is likely to bring some locker room displine for once.
Bigcherokeechief - January 11, 2012
Imagine what Holmes
did and Haley on the sideline… Holmes would have run straight to the locker room screaming like a little bitch!
KSU-Chief - January 11, 2012
Overheard in the interview
“Todd…how do you feel about feet?”
TRSChief - January 11, 2012
hells yeah!
neiowakcfan - January 11, 2012
geez for a minute there I thought you were talking about Pioli and Cassel...
NFL season ticket holder - January 11, 2012
Well
Mark Sanchez = Matt Cassel in average-at-bestness, so he has some experience.
JaySoy - January 11, 2012
I'm not sure it's a great fit.
I’d bet Todd Haley thinks it’s a great fit, because he’d be heading to work for Scott Pioli’s complete opposite in Rex Ryan. Unlike with Pioli, Haley would never butt heads with the Jet’s management over his beard or how he dresses or what he says, either on the sideline or to the media.
That being said, one of the biggest mistakes Haley made as coach of the Chiefs was never ending up with a clear-cut situation at offensive coordinator, and his “too many cooks in the kitchen” approach this year with he, Zorn, and Muir was a disaster. I think this proposed arrangement with he, Sparano, and Ryan sounds similarly problematic.
If I were him, I’d look into getting a job with a team that will make him the sole offensive coordinator.
MtHammer - January 11, 2012
Oh this is perfect. All these blowhards getting together.
and I’m sure the Patriots are looking at this as one less obstacle to a Division title next year.
BCRavenJHawkfan - January 11, 2012
not sure why they think
Haley can co-exist with another coach. Also not sure why you would want two OC…doesn’t make sense
TheScreenName - January 11, 2012 via mobile
hate to break it to haley haters
but he will get a job somewhere along with his best friend sparano, i dont think rex is the best guy to work with for todd, but it will happen somewhere, and he will succeed. haley is a heck of an offensive coach, say what you want, but ill go with the word of keyshawn johnson and others who actually played for him when he was a position coach
SDChief - January 11, 2012
Fixed.
Haley is a heck of an offensive
coach, say what you want, but ill go with the word of keyshawn johnson and others who actually played for him when he was aposition coachneiowakcfan - January 11, 2012
Heck of a motivator.
Heck of a coach? Not in the least.
RememberDelaney37 - January 11, 2012 via mobile
Wherever he goes, I hope Haley is the play-caller
He’s very, very good.
