Rounding Up The Chiefs Approval Polls

Kansas City Chiefs GM Scott Pioli and head coach Romeo Crennel have been out and about in the media this week with the news on Monday that Romeo is officially the new head coach. Pioli went on both radio stations in town (610 Sports and 810 WHB) while Crennel talked with Kevin Kietzmann, NFL Network, the Dan Patrick Show and even the New York Post. They're all over the place this week.

Pioli said on 610 this morning that perhaps he would try to be a little more visible this year (perhaps a New Year's resolution?) and his relationship with the fans reminded me we never did a roundup of our monthly approval polls featuring the head coach, general manager and owner.

The numbers from January are decent for one guy and not so good for the other two:

Believe it or not, this is the lowest month we've ever seen for both Pioli and Hunt. Pioli's rise and fall has been sharper, rising quickly when the Chiefs were on the four-game winning streak and dropping since then. Hunt's hasn't been above 60 percent since May so that's probably partially related to the lockout, which started in March.

Heh, Crennel looks like he's accepting his award.

The other two look disappointed, but congratulatory.

Looks like a good caption this photo.
Crennel's right armpit appears to smell worse than his left.
The polls could be renamed, "Did we win recently?"
I'm scared to see the results of that one

Will it be like 92% No and 8% Yes? Why would there be a yes option and why would u choose it?

Well, for the year it would be 44%.
Pioli 37%, Hunt 34% - give a small margin of error

And you’re not far off.

I remember Pioli's last poll riding very close to that 7/16 record.

Then overnight it dropped. Haters always be late to the party.

At least they show up

Unlike our offense.

Not Sure.
Glad somebody said this
To Clark:

Like Football more and soccer less = Approval up!

I read his mind too once.
And like Kansas City more

and Dallas less!

since the chiefs have been about 30 mill under the cap, i'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are saving money because they realize they need to resign bowe and carr.

i’f they don’t resign both carr and bowe, i’m going to be one pissed off chief fan. i also would like the chiefs to pursue peyton manning if healthy and available, at worse resign orton he is the best qb on the roster at the moment.

What if Bowe and/or Carr want to try another team?
yeah they could but i think carr will want to stay with romeo on board
Make an offer.

Continue to negotiate. If one isn’t signed the day before free agency, tag him.

I think they Photoshopped in that Desani he is holding

There is a conspiracy for you Nick Wright…

Seriously?

After how this season has turned out, you’re still calling out Nick Wright? Hilarious.

Hi Nick.

What is it about this season that you’ve been so right aboot?

Let's see

Everything.

Seriously, what did Nick Wright get wrong? Rogue Todd Haley got himself fired by his boss who had just enough sensitivity to wait until it looked like a good idea. The dirty hat? The beard? Tyler Palko over Kyle Orton? Not playing Jared Gaither? It’s all real. Get with the program.

He said Pioli and Haley didn't get along.

And people think Haley’s firing is proof that he was right. It has nothing to do with the fact that Haley’s team lost five games by 27 or more points, and completely melted down against the Jets.

I do feel like you argue at times to argue

You don’t really believe that Haley and Pioli got along, do you?

Even if they didn't, a couple dozen AP commenters made the same guess that Wright did.

Why should he get credit for guessing?

Which part are we talking about, them not getting along?

Members of the National Media have said this since his first season here.

I’m not trying to give NW credit in the slightest, I’m just saying it’s kind of silly to try and argue that they did in fact get along, when at this point it is all but verified.

Who is arguing that they got along fine?

All I said was him being fired was not proof that they didn’t.

Could he have been fired if they got along

Sure. I don’t think that by itself is ‘proof.’

He got fired because his teams were an embarrassment.

That’s the only point I was making. I have no idea whether or they got along. There is probably tension between most head coaches and GMs.

Teams?
I mean his team in multiple games.
This is true

I didn’t believe the rumors, but, they turned out to be true. Pioli should have fired Haley at the end of last season for “Philosophical differences.” If the Raiders can do it, so could he, instead we came into this season with a toxic sitution that cost us probably a few games and a playoff spot.

Pioli is on my no approve list for that alone.

And your proof that they didn't get along is that Haley got fired.....

Why are you trying to kill Tarkus?

Well, any of his guesses, I guess.

He makes more wrong guesses that correct ones, just like anybody else. But he’s much louder when about the lucky ones, purposely, so that they stand out and build up his cult. No different than any other commentator, really. Or commenter.

I have no idea.

I don’t think that’s why he was fired, in any case.

Worst owner in football

Look at Hunt and Malcom Glazer. Both care about soccer more than the NFL, both had shitty teams, both fired coaches. Wonder if there is some correlation there.

Cleveland owner is the worst
Mike Brown says hi.
He looked pretty good with that Palmer trade

maybe he’s getting it figured out

Raiders looked bad with that trade.

Lets see what Brown does with his prizes.

Cinci has owned the draft as of late

I like to point out how quickly The Wizards won a title, got a stadium and went back to another Championship after the Hunts sold them.

They got Green and Dalton this year, Gresham and Atkins last year.

I could argue that Dalton was accidental – they knew they were without a QB but drafted a WR in round one, what the hell was that?

I don't know enough about soccer to argue with you on that subject.

And I’m kinda proud of that.

-futbol
Google translate says that means "football." But I was talking about soccer.
And actually, he's got it figured out. He's bad on purpose.

The accusations some KC fans make about Hunt being mediocre on purpose – that’s Brown. And that’s not a guess, he said so publicly.

Like H2E said

he has owned the draft lately and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bengals started to take over the AFC North in the next 2 years with all that young talent they have.

I spy

the beginnings of a rattail on Clark Hunt. Looking good on ya!
