Sign Carr and Bowe

Turn Stanzi loose, and profit?

uhhhhhh.

was that a question?

he is wondering if that will give us results....mostly positive.
I'll be watching some football and college bball

Pulling for Houston, New Orleans, GB and a tie that never ends thus forcing Houston to go to the Super Bowl.

Giants have a real good shot

at an upset. GB’s D is epically bad (geez, sounds like the Chiefs under Vermeil) and last time they played Giants lost 35-38. Giants did same thing to the Patriots that year they were supposedly unbeatable. My pick is NO over Houston in the SB. Balt’s been pretty crap this year actually and super inconsistent, NE’s defense is also epically bad. Houston has great D, great running game and if their QB can just be an effective manager they have a great shot this year. Shott, NE’s D is so bad I think Denver is actually capable of upsetting them but I don’t want to sound too crazy.

I was in NYC this week, the Gmen lovers think its a done deal
I agree..

I just have family who like the Packers so I root for them often. Plus besides the Pats, in my neck of the woods there are lots of Giants fans. No fun.

glad I'm not the only one

Who thinks Houston is gonna surprise

It makes me nervous

how much I like Houston this weekend. Spread is up to 9.

Spread is a pretty flat 7.5 everywhere

It’s only 9 with slanted juice at the square books like Bovada. If you want the 9, you’re paying -135.

Personally, I’d rather have +7.5 at -110.

BUT, I think the better bet is GB/Balt -110 6 point tease to -1.5. I think both win, although I agree the Balt game should be within a score.

Yeah I really like houston so far

hopefully they don’t fall flat against baltimore

Draft talk

Would anyone like to see us get back to have a devastating offense line? How many problems would this fix/.

I think David DeCastro is the best available choice at 11 or 12 and a great 10 year prospect
I am one

who wants the Shields, Roaf, etc dominant line back. It does hide QB weaknesses and in an offensive league we can use any advantage we can get.

I mean Trent Green was below average almost everywhere else (not his fault in St. Lou) but here for one reason. The mammoths in front of him.

Exactly

Give us an Identity. Road graders on the oline and bull dozers on defense.

One step closer to Marty.

Wade Phillips has pulled out of the Bucs coaching search.

welll....

when you get that old pulling out fast is the best you get………out of the driveway that is

So I see a lot of comments about

Trading up for RG3, re-signing Orton, aquiring Flynn, developing stanzi, or drafting a qb in the 2nd or later rounds. I guess Im wondering why nobodys discussing Ryan Mallet anymore. A year behind bradyfor ryan mallet is at minumum better than stanzi. Id be willing to give another 2nd for their backup unproven qb.

Could you live with Orton?
But if we went with decastro in the 1st, re-signed orton and got mallet with our 2nd, Id be happier
We dont need Mallet if sign Orton IMO
Remember what it was like to have Will Shields, DeCastro is that level

If he at the level of Will Shields, he wouldn’t last until the 11th pick. He would be taken top 3.

Ive sent palko and cassel packing in this scenario
We have paid Cassel, he is a good back up option, I say keep him. He is good in the locker room and a solid team leader
Chiefs didn't think he was worth a #3 last year.

Why would they think he’s worth a #2 now?

chiefs thought tyson jackson was worth 3rd over all.

Plus I think the talents there, it was just a character issue

We need to user our picks on positions of need, back up QB is really not one, we have stanzi and have to see what is about
position of need or best available player.

Different schools of thought.

Either way, Mallet for a 2 would not fit .

I am saying our 2 could be Dline, Inside LB, TE, areas we are very vunerable

Pioli says he believes in a combo of the two.

More like best player available in a position of need, presumably unless a player falls to them that they can’t pass up, no matter the position.

You avoided my question.

The Chiefs didn’t think he was worth a 3rd round pick last year. Why would think think he’s worth a 2nd round pick now?

I feel a year studying with Brady, and under Belichick

Will do a hell of a lot more for the kids maturity than being the stud qb at Arkansas. I also believe that his maturity was the only thing held against him in the draft. Plus we’ve seen what happens when you try to roll with a palko, so yeah he’s a 1st round talent that quite possibly has all his ducks in a row now.

You mean like Cassel?
career backup vs potential stud

Dude has a cannon.

career backup vs potential stud

Dude has a cannon.

Smokes Cannons too
Its possible he could be great

But we have not seen anything to reflect that. We know less about Mallet than we knew about Cassel.

With Orton

At least we know what we are getting, and we could keep the #2 in your scenario

So what would you like to do if Orton moves o?
I would be disappointed

But I would still build an amazing offensive line, as opposed to taking large gambles on high risk QBs. Trading picks for Qbs is a Raider move. If Flynn was available, then maybe, but for Mallet, not buying it.

Im actually with you, I would love an awesome oline and

A nasty defense, but I’ve seen that before and Im ready to take some sort of risk for a quarterback.

I do not want to go 4-12 again

Due to some knucklehead at QB like Mallet. He is not who I want to see leading My team. I am not a Cassel fan, but at least the guy has class. We can do better than Mallet. If a replacement is what we want, then Jason Campell is available

With our Defense

A great running game could be a recipe for success

Can you say Matt Cassel?

A year behind brady

I think he by far the most realistic option. With Flynn entering the market, I am having trouble seeing where Orton goes to be a starter
I hope Orton feels the same way.
I see the Skins going after Flynn
Where overrated and washed up QBs go to die.
and fade away..............................
It's better to burn out

than to fade away.

My my, hey hey.

And once you’re gone you can never come back.

Tell that to Brett Favre.

But, but, but...Shanny is a QB guru

Ever since Elway landed in his lap.

Al Davis is looking better all the time in their dispute.
Oakland.

Reggie McKenzie is cleaning house there and will want to put his stamp on the team. Joe Philbin and Matt Flynn will both be in Oakland next year.

And over priced FAs
Dirk Koetter/Dexter McCluster

I want Dirk Koetter to be our new OC. He is very underrated as one of the good offenisve minds in all of football, who understands balance between a running game and taking shots downfield. Whoever, the OC is, I think McCluster has been under-utilized in the passing game. The bubble screens are great to get him in space but it seems like that is the only play they use him on in the pass game. He needs to be in the slot and run those intermediate routes underneath a la Wes Welker and get downfield. This guy has the ability to bust out and be a force in the run/pass game. Those are two topics I needed to address and throw out there. What do you all think?

Dex looked alot better in the last 3 games
Beacuse a guy named Kyle freaking Orton
Agreed,

The dude is Deberg like with Play Action

I agree

as well as with the playaction comment below. People throw out a lot of negative Orton stats and yes he has struggled at times. I will offer though that his success in Chicago with a bunch of nobodies running routes shows he can make guys better.

But here he faced three teams all with something to lose in the game. So no excuses like “Rivers fumbled the ball” or “all the Raiders had the plague”. Each team needed that game for a different reason. And he helped generate more offensive excitement than we had seen since the MNF game on Halloween. Did we get on the board enough? Nope. But that’s where JC comes in as well as Moeaki and help on the line.

If we can make the deal work, I’ll go all in on Kyle Orton next season.

he wins against two playoffs teams, cassel against none
...
And he helped generate more offensive excitement than we had seen since the MNF game on Halloween.

With 13 ppg?

better than 13 three and outs, no?
took almost 2 whole seasons,

but it seems they finally got the ball to him in space because w Orton, defenses had to respect the pass, so they dropped extra guys into coverage opening up the flat where he could make guys miss & use his speed to break some big gains.

And with No Haley

Maybe that made a difference too

probably the biggest
I still want Tom Clements
Took Orton one game

To make our entire receiving corp look above average

took haley three seasons to make or reciving corp that bad that you had to make that comment.
I think Haley was/is his own worst enemy

He needs to learn to delegate, I wish him well, but glad we have moved on

surviving the first snowstorm of the season

Seems like every year the plows do worse and worse year by year. Live in eastern Iowa by the miss river in the qb and got about 5-6 inches plus blowing. Crazy, just yesterday afternoon it was 60 degrees. Iowa weather I tell ya.

better than Texas with their 5 feet of snow

LOL!!!!!

Todays my day off. Hanging out with my Chiefs snuggie and NCAA.

Pretty relaxing so far. I mean it’s already 8, and I’ve got work in the morning. Always nice to have a free day though.

Also I’ve noticed in Madden that Dwayne Bowe always gets re-signed, and Brandon Carr always gets cut loose. Makes me nervous D=

Just listening to this near death interview with a cardio doctor
Wonder how Joe would like Todd?

Joe Namath dislikes Tony Sparano hire

Look at elway and tebow

there’s enough hatred there for years to come

Maybe they should make Joe the GM
Im "discussing lots of really important things" as well... 8-)
Half-way through the seven stories I'm writing tomorrow because Conner is in the Bahamas

F’in guy

I feel your pain

one of my guys grandpa died this week and everything fell on me. Uugh!

Yours is much more difficult....I've seen it
I dunno

We’re working on some big proposals and sitting down and forcing yourself to write can be a real nightmare

BIllion dollar defense contracts thingamajigs or writing about Crennel hiring an OC......?

tough…..

Ok

I’d be happier in your shoes right now ;)

My shoes will be in Cabo next week with a little blondie

Can’t wait man.

Awwwwww man!

Weren’t you just in Vegas? Livin’ the dream! Very nice.

I was there for New Years

Livin the dream for a couple of weeks, then back to work for a while….a long while.

enjoy it brutha

I’m still paying dearly for a week in Hawaii back in October. hehehe

Think about this...

If Carr walks. Who do we have to replace him as a consistent coverage corner?

I don't think he walks
God i hope so!
I hear you there

he’s too much of a key component to an otherwise elite secondary though, and with Flowers setting the benchmark, Carr will be expensive, but he won’t break the bank

Daniels was decent in spot duty when Flowers got hurt.

It would likely be between him and Jalil Brown. Chiefs would also likely look for a replacement in the draft of Free Agency.

If he’s walking, the Chiefs will know before anyone and will be able to plan accordingly.

That's scary

A starting CB battle between Daniels and Brown. Yikes. It seems counter-productive to not sign Carr, but replace him w/ a FA signing. It is best for all parties to just re-sign the guy.

It definitely is.

The Chiefs need him, and he isn’t likely to get the same offer from other teams. He doesn’t have the name recognition to demand a big contract from anyone accept us (or other AFC West teams).

Yes. I think we have sniffed it out. Carr will be a Chief next year.

nobody on the roster...

but there are some decent FAs available.

Plus

If Flowers repeats his 2010 season, Carr repeats his 2011 season, Lewis keeps improving, and we get Berry back…Next season could be a record breaking season for # of INT’s in a season!!!!…a man can dream

That's my kind of dream
Everyone wants a QB

So with Luck and RG off the board we need to start thinking Tannahill, Osweiler, Foles , and Weehdon. There’s some good talent there.

I can totally see Tannehill in the second round

Would have been nice to see him in the later rounds but I think his stock is rising quickly

We'll know more after the combine

How deep is his arm?

he's got a nice arm

he’s big and smart. Had a great year last year. Had a terrible year this year and came back strong in his last three games or so. He’s gonna miss the senior bowl with a broken foot so he could fall a bit.

Might be a good value in the 2nd/3rd

We still need good QB coach to bring him along, and a good OLC, OC, and Oline to protect him, though

I want a starting quarterback

We already have a developmental guy in Stanzi. If we don’t get a top-tier guy, use those second and third round picks on the OL, DL and S positions in guys that can compete for starting spots.

Left Tyler Wilson out

Sounds like he is ready to leave

Tannehill ability to move around

And scramble is what we need

yeah

I like the guy

Officially on the Trent Richardson wagon.....for today
Depending on what we do in Free Agency...

that could be a pretty solid move. However, 1st rd RBs are becoming less and less appealing in the NFL. Not much longevity anymore and the league has become pass-focused.

Agree....but it's important to us if we keep Cassel

We can’t keep Cassel, rely on the run, and then put all our hope in Charles coming off a major knee surgery. We better have the best run-game in the NFL if they plan to continue on with Cassel.

agreed but...

that smells an awful lot like Priest/LJ which kinda turned into a disaster. That was more LJ’s fault, though, and ours for resigning him although the fans were clamoring for it. I think the Chiefs would be better served by going all OL in the first 2 rounds but Richardson is tempting. We sorely lack a short yardage back and you can’t win and maintain drives if you can’t convert the third and shorts.

The back doesn't matter on short yardage, if the Oline sucks

Bring on the Beef!

I'd be happy with either

I’m all about the beef, but they’re comparing Richardson to an AP-like prospect, you can’t pass that guy up for a RT IMO. You might find a good RB later in the draft, but I know you can find a RT in the 2nd.

I’ve been clamoring for DeCastro, Martin or Reiff for weeks. But I can add Richardson to the list of guys I’d be happy with now.

Sure you can.

Did you know Adrian Peterson has a losing record as a pro? Have you realized that the Titans have improved on their record from last year despite Chris Johnson having a bad season? The Packers and Patriots, who were a combined 28-4 this year, don’t have a noteworthy runningback at all.

Runningback is the most overrated position in the NFL, and no running back except Charles is worth a first, let alone a prospect, and especially when we already have Charles. If you spend that pick on a runningback you might as well just light it on fire for all the good it would do you.

You're talking about the Packers and Patriots though

They have elite QB’s. We have Cassel.

I’m not against the trenches, but we need another RB and TR is a good one.

A few mocks

Have us taking David Wilson RB from VTech In the second. Anyone know much about him.

wilson

was sweet in the bowl game…..i liked him there but thats all ive seen

What I found

David Wilson, RB, Virginia Tech
Wilson has been an absolute force at running back in three years at Blacksburg. Despite setting high standards every season, he has still managed to get better and better. Wilson rushed 59 times for 334 yards and four touchdowns as a freshman in 2009 (a 5.7 average per carry). Even when he started to see more and more playing time, the average remained the same. He had 113 attempts for 619 yards and five scores as a sophomore before really breaking out in 2011; 290 carries for 1709 yards and nine touchdowns.

Also

Says he is a stellar pass catcher out of the backfield . He is 5’10 205

We'd need to find a screen game

wouldn’t screens to DMC be interesting?

Now we are talkin Jimfrom KC

This is what we need to discuss. Are any of these qbs worth taking. I agree with you on weedon I think he could start from day one. It’s not like we offer much compitition
