The New York Giants and the Green Bay Packers play in the NFC divisional round and believe it or not I'm not picking the Packers to win.
I think New York can do it. I think they pressure Aaron Rodgers, create a turnover or two and score enough points to beat the Packers. It's a big underdog pick but, like four years ago against New England, I think the Giants can win in a big upset.
Who ya got for the game?

New England New York SB?
Nope…Picking the Packers
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Giants please.
They win and I’m up eighteen bills before the week even starts.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Good start to the week for you.
Congrats.
7chiefs7 - January 15, 2012
Glazer reporting that Clements could be looking for an OC position somewhere or did I hear that wrong?
I guess anyone that wants him will have to hope Philbin doesn’t go anywhere, otherwise Clemets probably just moves up the ladder in GB.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
I heard that too
LadyChief - January 15, 2012
Giants win
9ers own next week, while ray lewis goes to jail again for killing tom brady. All harbaugh SB, with the little brother getting his revenge.
MarineChiefsFan - January 15, 2012
Did yall see that story on NFL.com about "big brother"
like we posted about earlier today…Didnt think it would be up there
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Chiefs are the only team that can beat the Packers.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
Lets keep it that way...
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Yep.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
Yep

Tarkus - January 15, 2012
Watching some of these games this weekend, makes me really wish we had a solid QB.
saskwatch - January 15, 2012
As opposed to watching games previous weekends?
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
Ha,
I suppose watching the Chiefs games make me wish it even more.
saskwatch - January 15, 2012
I hear lots of "Cruz" chants.
How many Giants fans can be their? Isn’t it like a 2,000 year wait for tickets?
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Season tickets plus scalpers are season ticket holders
PSUkegreen - January 15, 2012
Ah yes scalpers.
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Yeah lol
Glad we dont have to wait 2000 years to see our sweet QB Matt Cassel underachive for us every home game.
Coady - January 15, 2012
No kidding *sigh*
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Plenty of yellow seats now available.

Hope the Giants pull a stunner
So i dont have to hear the media all up on the Nuts of the Green Bay"NEXT BEST THING SINCE TEBOW" Packers
Coady - January 15, 2012
who couldn't beat the Chiefs?
I’ll take it.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
I stuck with my NYG pick on this one

Remember when all those people said that Cassel was as good or better than Eli?
saskwatch - January 15, 2012
Yes. Remember when many of us drank that Kool Aid
I had the shits for 3 years.
Coady - January 15, 2012
Really?
People said that? Eli won a SB…who would say that
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Heavy kool-aid drinkers
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Well...
No amount of spiked Kool-aid can say Cassel is good…
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
it depends on what you spike it with

LadyChief - January 15, 2012
Well
we do have fans that believe Cassel should start over Orton…
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
lol here we go again
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Of course we do
he had 27 TDs and 7 INTs last season…never mind he had like 10TDs and 9 INTs this year…he gets a pass
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Yeah
I hate whenever all Cassel supporters can be is point to 27 and 7 when he clearly played terribly that year with the 26th completion rate for starting QBs and could not convert on 3rd downs.
Not to mention Charles carried our team that year, and Cassel went 0td and 3int against the ravens
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
Thank you for logic
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
So
you think we should start Cassel over Orton?
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
No way lol
But we need better QB play all around
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Yeah
Hope Charles can come back fully healthy… That would help Orton out alot
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
Haley didn't have time to work with him this year.
Or 2009.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
oh yea...Haley wasnt coaching in 2010 right?
It was Weis?
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
Haley is apparently taking all the credit.
Or so the rumor goes, that he’s pissed that Weis was getting credit instead of him.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
I heard that rumor at that M&Ms Pizza place down the street from my house
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012

NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012

niageriannit1 - January 15, 2012
Nah Whitlock knew all along
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
I kind of wish we never had pick up orton
so stanzi could have gotten some snaps
PSUkegreen - January 15, 2012
You go back last year when I was saying Cassel's numbers were an artifact of the run game and he was a bottom 10 QB in the NFL, and look at the comments.
A good number of Chiefs fans thought he was a top 15 QB ahead of Manning.
saskwatch - January 15, 2012
I may have been one of those
I hope not, but I am firmly convinced now he is not even a “serviceable” starter…I was convinced he was a product of Jamaal Charles however
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012

andrew33 - January 15, 2012
I always wonder what the perception of Eli's career to date would be if his name wasn't Manning.
I think he always was under appreciated and given a rougher time because he was Peyton’s brother.
saskwatch - January 15, 2012
Agreed.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Unless my HD is broken I don't know how conclusive that was.
My TV showed the ball hitting the ground and popping out before any part of his body was conclusively down. It’s one of those plays though where you know he’s down even if the evidence isn’t there and the refs don’t seem to be able to call it as per the rule which states the video has to show it and they aren’t allowed to think for themselves.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
do u think cassel could beat out kolb in arizona
niageriannit1 - January 15, 2012
No
Coady - January 15, 2012
lol
I think we should find out by trading Cassel to AZ for a draft pick.
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
2nd rounder
Coady - January 15, 2012
As bad as Cassel has been, he's probably shown enough to have some trade value.
Especially this offseason where there won’t be enough Qbs to go around. Maybe to his old USC coach?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
that's like asking someone if they'd rather get kicked in the nuts or punched in the face

Next year= this year?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
next season would have been a more accurate statement i guess
RamX21 - January 15, 2012
"Handily" is a little inaccurate
If we didnt have poor red zone offense, I would agree
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
nope, it's accurate
they were never in a position to win. We controlled the game from start to finish
RamX21 - January 15, 2012
We way outplayed them.
And a real late score made the game look closer than it really was. But yeah, better red zone offense would have resulted in a blowout.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
what would be the trade value for cassel
what rd pick could u get for cassel
niageriannit1 - January 15, 2012

Sure, a lot of the players taken in the top 10 haven’t been good, but there were good players to be had with good scouting
Chiefs_KC - January 15, 2012
If Packers lose here, it's going to be a long offseason for them
You could say the Chiefs victory got them off track. No undefeated season, sit starters week 17, bye last week, flat so far today

niageriannit1 - January 15, 2012

You sign and keep him
RamX21 - January 15, 2012
About the same as the 5th round comp pick we'll get for letting him walk?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
What
would we do for QB?
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
zero
a FA QB isn’t going to sign with a team and then that team is going to turn around and trade him. He’ll sign on with the highest bidder. If a team wants him, they will outbid other teams to sign him and not give up a draft pick
Chiefs_KC - January 15, 2012
Not only that
But it’d be worth fucking our chances at free agents when they see we sign people to trade them giving them no choice where they go when they could have signed somewhere they desired.

ArrowheadHunter - January 15, 2012
I always say that the key to elite offenses is getting as many guys as you can to play at a high level at the same
The Packers to start the season probably had 14 guys playing at a high level on offense there was simply no way they could keep that up and over the the last 6 weeks or so injuries and just players coming back down to earth is why the big drop off in the packers offense .
Still great but but instead of that 14 playing great its now down to maybe 6-7.

Giants D against the Patriots O would be a great matchup, not to mention it will be much more personal matchup since Giants were the only ones to stop Brady that year, and would be very interesting to see how insanely Brady will play that game.
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
I hate both brady and eli so I rather not see a douchebag win a SB
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
rofl
understood, although i love tom brady
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
49ers are a 2 seed.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
I still think the Niners are pretenders.
And I can’t see Alex Smith playing another 6 minutes like he did yesterday, ever again.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Alex Smith
has played that well consistently throughout the season though. Harbaughs really helped him limit his mistakes.
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
This is what happens
when you draft and…I dunno…pay attention and develop your quarterback. Crazy idea huh?
His Royal Greatness - January 15, 2012
Consistent yes but the last 6 minutes of that game he was just unconscious
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
I guess
he is no Cassel
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
13-3 records, won against the saints
they be pretending
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
I like to pretend the Chiefs will be that good next season.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
The Saints kept them in the game.
They had one of the easiest schedules in the league, play in the worst division in football(and its not even close) and if it isn’t for three first quarter turnovers they probably arent even in that game yesterday.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
so you're going to call them pretenders for playing good D?
ok..
I guess the chiefs been pretending all year
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
I think
you are underestimating them, but it is somewhat deserved since they haven’t been very good for a long time.
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
Also worst redzone efficiency in the league
And other then the Tampa game nothing they did this year was all that impressive.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
so I guess you were in favor of broncos going to the playoffs instead of the chiefs
because you know…our red zone sucked all year
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
If we made the playoffs we wouldnt be pretenders?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Hey hey hey
we are no pretenders… especially our D kept us in so many games while Cassel and Palko were starting for us. That is an admirable feat in itself.
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
read above, having good d means you're a pretender
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
Oh
I love when the Chiefs are pretenders
andrew33 - January 15, 2012
Where exactly did I say that?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
'if it isn’t for three first quarter turnovers they probably arent even in that game yesterday.'
yes they had 3 TO because the 9ers forced them to have have 3 TO
let me guess, having good D means pretending
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
So turnovers = good D?
Tell that to Packer fans.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
did you watch the game or are you just BSing?
yes the 49ers D was so bad that brees wouldn’t march up and down like he normally does
/sarcasm
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
472 yards, 32 points and one of those turnovers inside the 10 yard line.
Yep. Amazing defense there. You don’t think that game ends differently if Roby isn’t an idiot and Pierre Thomas doesn’t get horribly injured?
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
yes you're correct because turnovers magically come out of nowhere
nope defense not needed.
All the 9ers had to do was leave a saints player open and they will magically fall down and fumble the ball.
do you pray to tebow?
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
Depends how you look at it I guess.
I saw a Saints team that could’ve run away with it if they dont shoot themselves in the foot. Alex Smith was impressive in the last few minutes of the game but I just don’t seem him duplicating that again.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
yes because
some guy poking the ball away from your arms
good coverage
stopping the run
and pressuring the QB
all equals
bad defense
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
How did the defense make Roby cough up a punt return?
Nevermind. We’ll see next week I guess.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
so you're in favor of tebow going to the playoffs?
seriously if you win, does it matter if you’re a pretender or not?
if the goal is to prevent all pretenders from going to the playoffs,
might as well ban the chiefs from playing next year cause we won’t be the pats, packers, giants, or saints
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
Packers were pretenders last year.
Were lucky to even make the playoffs.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
according to generic, the packers didn't deserve to win the Sb
even though they had the higher score
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
Not sure how you're jumping to these conclusions.
If the Niners make the Super Bowl then I’ll gladly eat crow. Im just saying they’ve done absolutely nothing all that impressive this year.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
indeed. Good D and beating the saints are not impressive
I mean good D? That’s pretending
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
The only thing impressive is they helped my gambling addiction this weekend by padding my wallet.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Speaking
of the broncos, they suck. :D

averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
Absolutely correct
1 world title, loyal fanbase, long stretches of irrelevance…
His Royal Greatness - January 15, 2012
I would disagree.....
The Royals have been consistently shitty.. The Chiefs have been mostly mediocre and had a couple really bad seasons but a few playoff seasons.. The royals are out of it by the all star break
bonesjackson - January 15, 2012
Royals won a World Series in 85... Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 69
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
mmm...ok
You want to use winning % since 1985? I was talking about your selective choice of years you used for your sig… I think 10 years would show more relevancy..
bonesjackson - January 15, 2012
Franchise winning percentages are much closer than you would expect too.
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
Not really.
You don’t get the wild discrepancy in records in MLB that you do in the NFL. .400 is about mediocre in football. In baseball, .400 means you’re horrible.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
6 wins is mediocre?
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
That's .375
The Colts finished with a .125 winning percentage. When was the last time a MLB team finished anywhere close to that?
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
.400 is 6.4, you can't have .4 wins.
apples to oranges. if you take out the extremes due to sample size winning percentages level out.
Without doing the math, I would imagine if you took the average winning percentage of playoff teams in MLB and the NFL they would roughly be the same.
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
Precisely my point.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
But that wasn't my point.
the point was that Chiefs fans have no ground to stand on, because the Chiefs are bad too.
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
I'm not saying they haven't been.
I’m just saying their records aren’t a good comparison, because .410 is a lot worse in baseball than it is in football.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
but as you increase the sample size the winning percent becomes more meaningful
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
The average winning percentage

Could blame the Chiefs for this Packers loss.
If the Packers didnt lose to us they would’ve played to go undefeated including playing starters in week 17. This looks like a team that sat starters when they shouldn’t have.

Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
What in the world are you talking about
How many calls went against NY today? And Nicks beat his guy and there were only 2 damn guys back there. Hate all you want, but the Giants won the game.
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
I wouldnt call the Hail mary luck.
Three Giants and two Packers on potentially the last play of the half? Thats some pure stupidity by the defense.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Worst Hail Mary defense ever?
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
When you just blocked at 40 yard FG and you play in one of the harder buildings to kick from outside of 40
I don’t see how you dont defend the Hail Mary there.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Really
There were 3 giants and 2 packers, blown coverage, had nothing to do with luck. Giants have outplayed the Packers the whole game, seriously, what game are you watching. They are out rushing them, and out passing them.
Kilo - January 15, 2012
Lets be honest
They dropped a lot in our game too so should we blame drops for their loss?
NJChieffan16 - January 15, 2012
That was a huge part of it..as much as I want to say we flat out beat them they did beat themselves, I'm just gettin tired of everyone overrating the giants, I watched most of their games and they're not that great
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
That's 1 hell of an over-rated team
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
Really? U sure the giants r my ur second team? Let me ask u this...how many times have u watched them
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Well
They are going to the NFC championship so that makes them in the top 4 in the NFL, if that makes you overrated, damn.
Kilo - January 15, 2012
r my ur second team?
Anyways, I get to watch em alot I had the league pass. Were inconsistent alot until they got healthy and hit that stretch. Seahawks and both Redskins game were terrible, but every teams got those games. They’ve come up big in big games this year, no? Not sure how you watching them more than me justifies them being over-rated?
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
U mean the cowboy games? Yea bc thats such a great team…giants r playing well right now, but all I’m saying is that they’re being hyped up right now by ppl who haven t watched them much …if they beat San Fran next week I’ll finally agree but I doubt that will happen so pls stop jumping on their bandwagon, packers playing terrible had more to do with them than the giants, giants only get credit for taking advantage of it
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Whos jumping on the bandwagon? I'm saying THEY won, not the Packers lost
The whole points of being a good team is taking advantage of other teams mistakes man. The DL dominated, rushed his throws which could’ve contributed to some of those drops. We’re just gonna agree to disagree. Swearin they dropped 10-20 balls and the game was close or something.
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
Disagree the packers LOST
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Ive seen almost every game this year.
They suffered from inconsistency on both sides of the ball because of injuries. Early on in the secondary on defense then in the pass rush and on offense they had almost no running game all year because of injuries. Now they’re the healthiest they’ve been all year and are on a roll.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
Didn't their 1rst pick miss a bunch of games to start out too?
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
Half the season.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
I live in nj and work in NYC so I get both nj and ny fans..all of which say that prince is not that great...so prince didnt have much to do with their inconsistency
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Missing Bradshaw for four games is the whole year?
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
It's still missing your best RB
And Jacobs missed some games, half their DL, Nicks.
KCinIL - January 15, 2012
again I'll give them credit if they win next week...
Chiefs86 - January 15, 2012 via mobile
Bradshaw and Jacobs are a package deal and always have been
And Jacobs was missing for a few games. And when they had both of them the defense was ailing. What I’m saying is the team is healthy and clicking now and its showing up on the scoreboard.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
There was alot more "wide open" drops in this game though.
I think we did more to disrupt timing and had tighter coverage although they still did drop a couple gimmes in our game too.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
my theory from above stands .The packers went through a phase during that streak where they caught everything .

the Saints had covered 9 in a row...
The odds of them covering 10 in a row was something like 1 in 500K
averagegatsby - January 15, 2012
Not when the first 9 were already out of the way.
If you flip a coin and come up with heads 9 straight times, tails still only has a 50% chance on the 10th (all else being equal).
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
What are the odds you'll get heads 8 times in a row then get tails the 9th time?
ChiefWarPaint - January 15, 2012
1/512
But if you already got those 8 heads, then it’s 1/2
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 15, 2012
Exactly.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
Toms gonna be angry next week.
The last time they played Baltimore at home in the playoffs he got bitch slapped.
GenericBrand - January 15, 2012
I think we dont need an elite QB to win a SB
Just a really great defense and a good not great QB and a good duo in the backfield, look the teams in the final four: Ravens, elite defense, good not great QB, good running game; Giants, great defense, great duo in the backfield, altough they have a great QB but they are where they are ’cause their defense; Niners, good not great QB, good running game, great defense; and the exception, the Patriots, Elite QB, not good running game, bad defense.
kaiser1118 - January 15, 2012
I believe we are on our way to have a great defense, and i think if we keep Orton, he could be that good not great QB, and our running game is good and could be great with a good big RB
kaiser1118 - January 15, 2012
Yep
3 out of the 4 teams have good defenses.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
One high powered offense left.
How’s that idea about Franchise QBs being all you need to win working out now? Seems to me that the teams with the best defenses are winning play-off games. Alex Smith and the 49ers proving me right week after week.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Week after week?
They’ve only won one playoff game.
Tarkus - January 15, 2012
14-3 right.
People think we need to trade away our draft for RG3 because it takes a good QB to win. I’ve been saying improve the o-line and add quality depth and we can win with Cassel/ Orton / Stanzi just like the 49ers are doing with A.Smith. IMHO A.Smith isn’t as good a QB as Cassel or Orton. We can win with a ball control offense and a good defense with Orton or Cassel. I’ll go even further IMO the 49ers will win it all.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Alex Smith was a #1 draft pick who played college ball and has had 8 different coordinators.
Cassel just sucks. Next excuse.
Coady - January 15, 2012
Harbaugh has found Alex Smiths potential. Matt Cassel has found his celiling, before he left New England.
He is rich thanks to, Randy Moss…uh huh
Coady - January 15, 2012
IMO the coaching staff knows what they have with A.Smith and their more or less doing what Weis did with Cassel.
They’re a ball control offense with a very good defense, and A.Smith is nothing more than a Game manager.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
I don't even consider A.Smith a good QB.
It’s all about the coaching and the system in San Fran not how great A.Smith is. The 49ers defense and running game is what wins most of the games for them.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Dont know if is better than orton, but it's clearly better than cassel...... i dont see Cassel as a game manager, i see him as a bakcup QBetter than cassel...... i don
kaiser1118 - January 15, 2012
sorry thee in the last sentece.....it is: "i see him as a backup QB"
kaiser1118 - January 15, 2012
IMO A.Smith is just as much a Back up as either Cassel or Orton.
Yeah I would like a better situation at QB, but IMO Cassel could’ve won that many game at San Fran under that system, which is run the ball, control the clock and play good defense.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
agreed
kaiser1118 - January 15, 2012
Preach.
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 15, 2012
Alex smith was a 1st round draft choice who has conquered eight years of different coordinators
He is NOT matt cassel, he is WAY better.
Coady - January 15, 2012
LOL please.
Way better huh, I believe your wrong.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Better this year
Thats all that matters
ChiefWarPaint - January 15, 2012
He's better because of the coaching staff, just like Cassel was with Weis.
Give him a shitty O.C and Coach and he goes right back to where he was, a below average QB.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Cassel wasn't even all that good with Weis
At least Smith shows some ability against good defenses
ChiefWarPaint - January 15, 2012
27 TDs 7 INTs isn't good ok.
Funny how people have forgotten what he did do considering all the changes in scheme and coaching staff.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
Couldnt have said it better.
Sinny - January 15, 2012
Show me the numbers, im sure im not.
Coady - January 15, 2012
Then next year
It will be two high powered offenses all over again, just the nature of the sport once you think you’ve got it figured out it turns itself on its head.
ChiefWarPaint - January 15, 2012
Cassel hasnt had the same oc ether.
get your facts straight. Its funny how these playoffs are unfolding.
Sinny - January 15, 2012
either*
Sinny - January 15, 2012
IMO changing coaching staffs year after year is whats setting this team back, Lets just hope we've finally found the right guy for the H.C job and we find a good O.C that sticks.
CPT.Caveman - January 15, 2012
HOW ABOUT THEM COWBOYS???
Chiefshero - January 15, 2012
I'M CLOSING THIS THREAD, GOOD NIGHT TO ALL
