Ravens Beat Texans, Move Onto Patriots In AFC Championship Game

Say what you want about the record-breaking offenses this year but the Baltimore Ravens and their defense are one of the league's final four teams this year. The Ravens beat the Houston Texans in the divisional round of the playoffs and they now move onto the AFC Championship game in New England.

The Ravens beat the Texans, 20-13, on Sunday. The game was ugly, as most Ravens games are. The other games included more impressive looking teams but we know who the Ravens are and who they've been over the last decade.

Think about it. Baltimore has been elite, or near-elite for over a decade now. Since 2000, they've had just three seasons in which they've won less than nine games. And here's a stat that will surprise you -- Arian Foster's 132 rushing yards was the first time ever someone has rushed for over 100 yards on the Ravens in the postseason. That tells you how good they are and how long they've been good.

The Texans were close in the final minutes losing only by seven but ultimately they couldn't get it done. You gotta give them props though for securing their first ever postseason bid (and their first postseason win last weekend).

Baltimore's next stop is New England where they'll face the Patriots.

If Texans would of had their Quarterback?

The out come would of been differant if the Texans would of had their starting Quarterback available i do believe.just wasnt all that impressed with ravens.the patriots will have no trouble with the ravens.i look for a patriots and 49ers Superbowl.

same here,

I actually picked the Texans to win, I have no faith in the Ravens.

Or how about

If Jacoby Jones wasn’t a punt-muffing goob then they probably win that game – even with the shitty play by their backup QB.

Texans D played outstanding considering the positions they were put in. That unit is going to be scary next year… the whole team in fact with Schaub and Mario Williams back.

Ravens will get dismantled in New England next week.

I was at the game yesterday........

I love to listen to the Baltimore fans complain about their team. I wish we were as bad as they have been for countless years. I keep telling them that you don’t get to go to the playoffs forever ; )

apparently THEY do
you don’t get to go to the playoffs forever

much rather see them than the Pats … love that the Ravens are still in it with their Elite QB :-)

If I was a Balt fan

The only part of the team I would complain about would be QB

Patriots and Niners in the SB.

You heard it here last.

sorry but niners

Can’t beat the giants not with eli playing like that and alex smith will fair no better than rodgers did against the rush of the giants bad matchup, Against the secondary of the giants
. The pats will get revenge on the giants in the super bowl

If the Texans had Shaub

that game is not even close. Their defense plays fast, got wore down due to Ineffective qb play. Damn that sounds familiar!

If Jacoby Jones doesn't shit himself inside the 10

and muff a punt giving the Ravens a guaranteed score. That play right there pretty much sealed it. They put themselves in a hole and it’s harder to play that D when you have to come from behind.

If they keep a lead or at least don’t play from behind they can be more conservative with Yates and allow Foster to keep crushing them.

Hopefully the team didn’t beat Jones with socks filled with soap after that game – he blew it.

He should have just

let the ball bounce into the endzone. That is where the game pretty much ended, without that score we are talkin Texans, Pats. He may have just ran to the bus to avoid the blanket party!

i think

Yates did a good enough job it was stupid turnovers that doomed the Texans but yates in his second playoff game proved more than Cassel ever has . Orton flynn yates manning rookie qb or fan over Cassel for kc next year plz

Who will be our next OC?

Why not Hue Douglass,Jim Zorn,or how about a Kurt Warner if was interested.lets all hope its somebody to light up the offense and score a lot of points with our recievers.

Would be nice

but gotta have a qb that can get the ball to the recievers first. Cassel is a nice guy, pretty tough, but he is just not it.

I think the Pats/Ravens games hinges on Ed Reed....

If he can’t go or is less than 75% healthy, Brady picks them apart. If Ed Reed is healthy, then it becomes a slugfest. I’d still give the edge to New England here, but it’s really close.

On the NFC side…. I’m cheering for the Niners (and Mizzou’s Smith boys… no relation), but I think the Giants come in a take it. The Giants are in a groove when it matters most. The two defenses are comparable, but Eli is the better QB. The Giants have the edge here.
