Weve had a string of Neo-cons in office since Reagan, how the hell are Neo-Cons electable?
People are to busy with the electable guy, that they forget that’s not the point of a democracy. Vote for who you want, not the “winning” vote because no vote is ever wasted.
who have made the last three years about doing whatever they can to get Obama out of office, above all else. So it only follows that Republicans are going to vote for the guy they think gives them the best chance of doing that.
Time and time again both sides of the aisle, besides a select few, have shown that they don’t give two shits about the people and work towards their own goals and cowing to the highest bidder. They’re all apart of the greenback party
It’s just sad really, partisan politics is such a horse crap. Divide and conquer is just way to effective a strategy.
I couldn’t agree more! I used to love politics, but I can’t hardly stand it nowadays. It’s all more about screwing the other party than it is about moving the country forward.
As an Alabama resident, my vote essentially does not count. I still vote for whoever I want, but my state will always be red. The electoral college is a joke, IMO.
Polls don’t mean much when it comes to labels, because the GOP has done a great job of demonizing the term liberal, and propping up the term conservative. But people don’t actually vote for labels. They vote for ideas and policy positions. A lot of people aren’t near as conservative as they think, when it comes down to the issues. Similarly, a lot of people are liberal, but since it’s become a dirty word, they don’t actually call themselves that.
I think the term liberal is demonized because it’s modern association is with European socialism and Marxism. I’d say that’s pretty justified if people don’t like that stuff.
But gallup doesn’t say there, and I’m not trying to give the electorate any more credit than they deserve. I think far too many people are too apathetic and politically and philosophically ignorant. there isn’t a lot of deep thought in things like this. That’s why group think rules politics.
No its because he's making the 2nd most money in the election
He’s the corporations candidate therefore most electable, you’re not a moderate if you continuously flip flop on every issue over years and in front of different audiences. If anything he’s nothing more than just a liar.
But still, if people are truly conservative, they’re not going to vote for the money. They’re going to vote for someone who shares their conservative values closest.
Because people are to worried about wasting a vote to vote for who they want., conservatives usually vote within the Repub party and that doesn’t ever change, writing in is considered a waste.
Fun Fact: the last 5 presidents just happened to be the ones who made/spent the most money on the way to the election.
You’re saying Romney is more electable because people are voting for him because he’s more electable, because people are voting for him because he’s more electable, because…
Clark: “….yep, yep…. he’s sitting right here…. no, press the live-feed button…. is it working? Ok, good…. don’t worry, Scott, it looks like a ceiling tile…. Alright, bye.”
Anyone else think that maybe Haley is right and all this weird secrecy/actions or am I just still hanging on to the thought of our (former) head coach?
RAC looks comfortable and poised while Haley looked like blind cigarette at a weeney roast. The fact that RAC changed the QB depth chart and THEN told Pioli shows exactly.
Even when there was some question about Orton’s health, instead of acting like he was so afraid of the Packers that he would keep it a secret, he named Orton the starter early in the week, and look what happened. Haley was all about the mind games, instead of just lining up and beating people.
I heard that Hue is in St. Louis interviewing for the OC, Romeo needs to offer Hue the OC job. We seen how Hue turn the Raiders offense around, just imagine what he could do with Bowe Baldwin, Charles ,McCluster Cassel and Moekia.

I love what Paul was saying about defense spending.

It's an open thread, so you can talk about whatever you want.
But, yes, that’s the general consensus. I’m not aware of anybody who actually likes the guy.
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 16, 2012
He's more tolerated than liked.
Conservatives like to pretend that most of the country is conservative, but in fact most of the country is comprised of moderates.
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
Can say the same of any group
But just because he’s more moderate doesn’t mean he’s a better choice, just means he’s more of an asshat if anything the lying prick.
ChiefWarPaint - January 16, 2012
Agreed.
It doesn’t make him the better choice. It makes him more electable, though.
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
But what's considered is exactly what's wrong
Weve had a string of Neo-cons in office since Reagan, how the hell are Neo-Cons electable?

bamachief5558 - January 16, 2012 via mobile
You must have missed this, Tark.
Link.
I can’t stand Romney.
bossmanham - January 16, 2012
So why is Romney winning?
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
I think because people think he's the most electable, and conservatives think he's 'conservative enough'.
Which just drives groupthink that is the American electorate. I think he’s more of the same.
bossmanham - January 16, 2012
Why would he be the most electable
if most people are conservatives?
Polls don’t mean much when it comes to labels, because the GOP has done a great job of demonizing the term liberal, and propping up the term conservative. But people don’t actually vote for labels. They vote for ideas and policy positions. A lot of people aren’t near as conservative as they think, when it comes down to the issues. Similarly, a lot of people are liberal, but since it’s become a dirty word, they don’t actually call themselves that.
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
Well 35% do identify as moderates. That is a lot.
That’s why group think rules politics.
bossmanham - January 16, 2012
I follow politics closely, but I'm to the left of the Democrats, so I have no horse in this race.
But my understanding is that most people support Romney because he has the best chance to beat Obama.
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 16, 2012
And why does he have the best chance?
Because he’s known and is a moderate-conservative.
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
No its because he's making the 2nd most money in the election
He’s the corporations candidate therefore most electable, you’re not a moderate if you continuously flip flop on every issue over years and in front of different audiences. If anything he’s nothing more than just a liar.
ChiefWarPaint - January 16, 2012
Yes he is a liar
just like the “most transparent” president of all time, Obama.
Snicklefritz - January 16, 2012
It's a good point about money.
But still, if people are truly conservative, they’re not going to vote for the money. They’re going to vote for someone who shares their conservative values closest.
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
But that gets thrown out the window
Because people are to worried about wasting a vote to vote for who they want., conservatives usually vote within the Repub party and that doesn’t ever change, writing in is considered a waste.
Fun Fact: the last 5 presidents just happened to be the ones who made/spent the most money on the way to the election.
ChiefWarPaint - January 16, 2012
That's a circular argument.
You’re saying Romney is more electable because people are voting for him because he’s more electable, because people are voting for him because he’s more electable, because…
Tarkus - January 16, 2012
Pretty much sums it up
I didn’t say American politics or people were very logical
ChiefWarPaint - January 17, 2012
Yeah, but I still don't really don't understand why.
I never will understand why Huntsman didn’t gain traction. He’s basically a more likeable and more consistent version of Romney.
