Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe had a terrific first half against the Denver Broncos catching six balls for 93 yards. He was clearly Kyle Orton's No. 1 receiver but he wasn't able to help in the second half after he went down with a possible concussion.
Bowe caught a pass and hit the ground in what looked like a routine play. But he was slow to get up and the trainers came out to check on him. He walked to the sidelines under his own power.
Following Sunday's game, Romeo Crennel said "they wouldn't let him go back into the game", meaning the medical staff. Players have to pass a concussion test if there's concern they suffered one during a game. Bowe apparently wasn't allowed back in.
The Chiefs season is over so the possible concussion doesn't matter at this point (assuming Bowe recovers).

You gotta wonder, without bowe did we even have another weapon besides breaston?
Chiefshero - January 2, 2012
Baldwin caught a few
Biggest concern has been his ability to create separation though. He has some work to do this offseason.
As for Bowe, I am fine with not putting him with the concussion suspicion. Unfortunate that he was on pace for a career day.

I really thought we would give Baldwin a couple of jump ball opportunities down the field.
thegrisdaddy - January 2, 2012
Baldwin needs to learn to use his body to separate the defender from the ball
As well as find the open spots on the field. Bowe’s not great at creatin separation, but he’s EXCELLENT at using his body to shield the ball.

I think another position to be considered is the Tight End....
Orton had some success throwing to Pope during the Packers game, but I don’t think Pope can be the TE we need. It’s a key position, imo, and one I hope we’ll upgrade.

wonder if tony is willing to come back
Chiefshero - January 2, 2012
i think he signed another year at ATL .
chiefsman! - January 2, 2012

In case you all have forgotten about our starting TE…???

Yes, Moeaki is progressing well, from what I hear.

Bowe will be fine
That wasn’t a huge hit – he landed funny on his neck/head

priest holmes landed funny on his neck/head...
Chiefshero - January 2, 2012
So did Rob Gronkowski.
bossmanham - January 2, 2012
It looked like the shoulder at the time to me.
thegrisdaddy - January 2, 2012
It didn't appear to be head or neck when he went down.
I figured at worse it was a muscle. There really wasn’t any jarring of the head.
ravenhawk - January 2, 2012
You mean a roided up Shawne Merriman landed funny
on Priest’s neck and head…

He has at least 4 months to recover, lest he becomes concussed again.

i think orton will resign with kc
too many weapons for him to work with, plus orton got a legit shot at being the starter
niageriannit1 - January 2, 2012
Knew it was a concussion the second he got up and started skipping back to the sideline
You could tell he was kinda loopy. Then they showed the replay and you could.see he landed on his helmet because of the way he landed trying to keep possession of the ball. Good thing is he has the whole offseason to recover and hey, maybe we can barter with him while he’s still loopy and get a ‘team friendly’ contract lol
Chiefs08Matt - January 2, 2012 via mobile
I like the fact the medical staff didn't risk it
and allow him to come back in the game. If we are potentially going to sign Bowe to a long term contract, we don’t need to risk any long term health problems for a game that ultimately didn’t matter.
5280ChiefsFan - January 2, 2012
I think it's a bit careless to say
that since it’s the end of the season, this concussion doesn’t matter.
Maybe not to you as a blood thirsty fan, but head injuries are no joke.
At best, any concussion victim could be dealing with lasting memory loss. I think it’s shameful to forget that these players you root for to put their bodies and minds on the line are people you should be supporting. Even if the state of their character or health doesn’t translate directly to the product on the field, neither does the work those guys do for your community.
I guess I’m just saying I’m disappointed that this lacks even a simple “We wish him the best” or “We hope he’s OK.”
bamachief5558 - January 2, 2012 via mobile
It's good we didn't try putting him back in
No point in risking further injury in a game that doesn’t truly matter.
Scaryclouds - January 2, 2012
I'm glad they played it safe with Bowe...better to not risk further injury.
I hope he recoups quickly…and they lock him up for the future. Great game Bowe!
