Good morning! Here is today's Kansas City Chiefs news. Happy Friday!

It's widely known that Rodney Hudson is viewed as the heir-apparent at center to Casey Wiegmann, but those plans were even more obvious inside the Chiefs locker room.
Hudson's locker was strategically placed next to Wiegmann's and the rookie often sat on his locker stool to pick the veteran's football mind following practices. Wiegmann made it a point to pass on as much knowledge as he could to the promising rookie.

Port Arthur native and NFL running back Jamaal Charles has been named parade marshal for the 20thAnnual Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas, which runs from Feb. 16 to 19.
Charles, who was named the Kansas City Chief's 2009 MVP, was inducted into the Sports Legends Gallery at the Museum of the Gulf Coast in 2010. He graduated from Memorial High School in 2005 after a stellar gridiron career that included two-time All-State and District 22-5A Player of the Year honors.

Richardson would be a luxury pick in Kansas City. However, a backfield featuring Richardson and Charles would be one of the most dangerous running-back tandems in the NFL. It would also take immense pressure of quarterback Matt Cassel and an underrated passing game in Kansas City.
Retired and continuing to run a charitable foundation that awards college scholarships, Holmes set the Chiefs' franchise records for rushing attempts (1,275), rushing yards (5,933), rushing touchdowns (76) and total touchdowns (83).
Now, Holmes is imparting his knowledge of the game as an assistant coach at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl this week in Los Angeles.
Scout caught up with the San Antonio native for the following interview:

Offseason Roster Review: Wide Receivers from The Mothership
He suggests that if Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians does not return for the 2012 season, the decision might not be Arians or Mike Tomlin's but Art Rooney's...
...One of note, is Todd Haley, an Upper St. Clair native, who most recently was the coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
If Arians Is Out, Who's Next? from The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Brady said that Pollard's presence on Sunday won't make him think of the season-ending injury...
...As for the other side, Waters said he knows Pollard very well, and that the Ravens safety will never regret ending Brady's season.
"He's definitely a high energy personality," said Waters. "He definitely brings a lot of energy to the football team. I've been around Bernard when he was a rookie and he was the same guy he was then. He's a very physical football player, he loves to hit. He has a very aggressive personality. I expect him to be at an all-time high come Sunday."

Too bad Pollard isn't a better safety.
bossmanham - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Why is he
good enough to play for the Ravens “D” ? Just asking, not being a smart azz.
chiefs63 - January 20, 2012
Apparently he's good enough.
Still misses tackles.
bossmanham - January 20, 2012 via mobile
When you have Ed Reed
All one has to be is just good enough.
tlback20 - January 20, 2012
So if you have Urc Burry?
HIV 2 Elway - January 20, 2012
They play the same position though..
Ed Reed is basically two free safeties out there. Gives Pollard a lot of freedom and room for error.
m.yashi - January 20, 2012
If you have Urc Burry
You can give the other team a 12th guy and it still won’t amount to shit
TheScootness - January 20, 2012
If you watched the game against the Texans
he missed several tackles while trying to go for the big hit. That’s part of what made it a somewhat close game.
DanielH123 - January 20, 2012
There was the one play they showed, right after he actually had a good hit, where a bad angle led to a big completion, and his weak ass attempt to tackle was replayed a few times. I’d rather have a guy who consistantly gets the job done, even if he fails to make a lot of big plays, then one who wil mix a few highlight reel hits with several blown plays.
Topchief1 - January 20, 2012
Agreed
He was always one of the most frustrating players to watch when he was here, and that’s exactly why. He might get a jarring hit, but mroe likely, he’ll whiff completely and give up a 50-yd completion instead of a 12-yarder.
DanielH123 - January 20, 2012
Pollard > Burfict
everyone wants Burfict but he’s Pollard all over again … only more so, because Burfict not only missed tackles, he draws penalties
I do NOT understand why 80 bazillion people are more than willing to slam Pollard on a continuing basis then insist the team draft what amounts to the same guy all over again
upamtn - January 20, 2012
Because Pollard is the reason we have Cassel?
KingChief - January 20, 2012
Holy Shit in a Shoe!!
As obvious as it is, I never put the two together………..HIV 2 Pollard!!
severn58 - January 20, 2012
oh, it's true!
this was done by someone almost as clever as you, severn …. and eventually posted on Deadspin … someone found it and posted a link to a little post by Joel once

if the image is too small to read and your browser doesn’t allow magnification, download it and open with an image viewer … it’s hilarious!
upamtn - January 20, 2012
Amazing, but then there's this..
H2E’s pic is of the Pollard/Brady hit, so, going with that formula, does this mean that he is actually a secret Cassel fan, and has been Keyser Sozeing us the whole time?
severn58 - January 20, 2012
this, Sir, deserves a million rec's for critical thinking skills alone :-)
upamtn - January 20, 2012
exposed
HIV 2 Elway - January 20, 2012
I knew it!

TheScootness - January 20, 2012
lol
that is awesome
BDCinSA - January 20, 2012
and it's actually ... how Kyle Orton ended up in Kansas City
upamtn - January 20, 2012
Haley in Pittsburg?
crazy
Bigcherokeechief - January 20, 2012
Pittsburgh, PA and Pittsburg, KS
I doubt he’s going to Pittsburg, though that would be pretty amazing.
manofnothi - January 20, 2012
So Konz is more than likely not a target.........makes DeCastro an even bigger need. What a great mentor!

Another ? would be was Powe's next to Gregg's.
I like that it was done that way though.
km230015 - January 20, 2012
Let's hope Stanzi's wasn't too close to Cassel's.
severn58 - January 20, 2012
Let's hope Palko's was closest to the locker room door
NJChieffan16 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
I think it was near the trash can
I kid, I kid
Ochophosphate - January 20, 2012
LOL
upamtn - January 20, 2012
I see what's going on
Pioli put them together and then put a camera between the two of them to spy on them!!! The room must be filled with cameras!!!
7chiefs7 - January 20, 2012
and this is what I've been saying all along ...
Hudson was brought in to be replacement at Center for Wiegs
upamtn - January 20, 2012
I’m sorry, how is having a quarterback whose play is so terrible that fans
welcomehail a middling player in Kyle Orton who was benched for a quarterback who cannot even complete 50 percent of his passes, underrated?Unless they are implying that our passing game is underrated because we are a good QB away from being dominant.
Topchief1 - January 20, 2012
It seems like they should have used the term “sub-par” over “underrated”
Chiefs fan in ST Louis - January 20, 2012 via mobile
Not the right word
I actually don’t think they meant underrated at all. Maybe underwhelming or underachieving.
Writing on the content-churning internets can get pretty sloppy.
Chief Farmer - January 20, 2012
I still question why
our young guys did not get on the field when it was obvious the game was out of reach? The snaps would have done them some good, and we would have an idea what we have in them. Was just watching Kenny Chesneys video reality. Our beloved Arrowhead stadium was in it!
Eric Allen - January 20, 2012 via mobile
If the game was out of reach then obviously our starters needed the work too.
electriclight - January 20, 2012
If Bowe didn't have so many crucial drops
and you add the broken tackles, he would be a top 3 receiver easy along with Fitz and Megatron
KingChief - January 20, 2012
imagine if he had a qb throwing to him that was worth a shit!
reedeasy - January 20, 2012 via Android app
Exactly
And the chances of him having one here in KC anytime soon are looking pretty slim.
If Bowe played for NE or the Packers? He’d be a monster.
Scott B. - January 20, 2012
Yes the QB plays a major factor in that
but every so often he drops easy passes like the TD in the Raiders game and the TD in the Colts game last year and when he drops the screen passes you have all the people who come out and say we should trade Bowe blah blah blah, which I would prefer for him to stay and be a lifer and set all the Chiefs records which he is on pace to do
KingChief - January 20, 2012
Bowe DIDN'T have
upamtn - January 20, 2012
bah, finger fail
Bowe did NOT have many drops at all … in fact, he’s in the Top 5 or 10 in the league in terms of fewest drops as a percentage of catches
Chiefsfan85 did a Fanshot on this very thing yesterday … and here’s the link he found
http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/01/17/drop-rate-2011-which-receivers-are-dropping-the-ball/
upamtn - January 20, 2012
I know it's not the number of drops
but more when he drops it
KingChief - January 20, 2012
I see Stevie but where Bowe?
NJChieffan16 - January 20, 2012 via mobile
bah! well, I knew it was one of our guys ...
probably on a “full list:” somewhere on PFF
upamtn - January 20, 2012
looks like miami might announce their head coach today
sounds likes Broncos OC Mike MCcoy might be the dolphins head coach .
chiefsman! - January 20, 2012
Bowe 10 receiving broken tackles, Gronkowski 8.....
It’s just that Bowe’s 10 were on the KC side of the 50 yard line while Gronkowski’s were within the opposition’s 10 yard line, resulting in touchdowns.
BCRavenJHawkfan - January 20, 2012
How about keeping Wiegs around as a line coach to provide further tutelage.
KCbo - January 20, 2012
Pollard...meh
One could make the argument that it’s his fault we now have Cassel…
WorL4Chiefs - January 20, 2012
someone did ... above
pay attention, girl!
