Kansas City Chiefs Weren't Very Exciting In 2011

Confirmed: The Kansas City Chiefs were not an exciting football team to watch in 2011.

They were up and down all year, peaks and valleys, but in the end the Chiefs were one of the least exciting teams of the year, according to a company called Thuuz, which somehow, someway tries to track excitement in sporting events.

Here's what Thuuz says they do:

Star-divide

Thuuz rates the excitement of each game in real-time on a scale of 0-100. Select your favorite sports and teams, and we'll notify you when there's a game you won't want to miss. We'll even tell you where to tune into these games, whether you're in front of your TV, computer, phone or tablet.

It's based on their "unique algorithms", whatever that means.

Anyway, the Chiefs were the fifth least-exciting team in 2011: The top five least exciting: 1. Rams, 2. Jaguars, 3. Colts, 4. Seahawks, 5. Chiefs.

And the top five most exciting: 1. Giants, 2. Pats, 3. Panthers, 4. Raiders, 5. Lions.

....the Raiders?

Don't need to be John Nash to see that the Chiefs were as exciting as a Hugh Grant flick.
unique algorithms
at least the Raiders were able to snatch defeat from victory time and again ... now THAT'S excitement
or give it away in one game!
Gee, what a clever algorithm...

I’m guessing they somehow average offensive ppg and offensive yards, among other stats and that’s their “unique algorithm”.

All 5 of those teams were either in the bottom 5 in ppg or ypg, and the Rams, Jags and Colts were in the bottom 5 of both.

Do we really need stat nerds telling us what teams are and aren’t exciting to watch?

How Thuuz Calculates Excitement

Contrary to popular belief, we do not watch the games picture in picture while we play World of Warcraft.

I work for Thuuz and can attest that it is more sophisticated. We analyze play by play feeds and then assess 1) how close games are 2) how action packed games are 3) quality of play 4) implications (for example: Chiefs shocking the Packers) 5) much much more.

We’d love to get feedback. Let me know if you’re interested/disgusted.

Eh...not terrible as far as excitement. Is this talking pre-game expectations, or the actual games?

Orton v. Tebow
Palmer’s debut (does that only count for the Raiders?)
We beat the undefeated-motherlovin’-Packers
Chargers-Chiefs Monday Night playing for 1st place
Romeo’s debut
Ricky Stanzi’s breakout game

Yeah that one was awesome!
Ricky Stanzi’s breakout game
You mean his first game as clipboard holder?
Ricky Stanzi’s breakout game
No, it was that one game where he made that one play

Wait…he wasn’t even in for “one play” lol

Excitement is calculation of actual games

We (Thuuz) do take into account comeback (the Tebow factor), upsets (Packers-Chiefs), Ricky Stanzi’s haircut, etc.

So

The Raiders beat out the Packers as more exciting?? Hardly. How did the Browns have more exciting games than the Chiefs??? This is terrible……….

15-1 is as dull as you can get.

In excitement terms apparently the Penalty Record > Discount Double Check

Who knows?

I guess you're right.

DDC was never fun… Yellow flags are more entertaining.

Blowouts=yawn

Raiders played a surprising amount of nailbiters.

Also, they are in a big market.
Second best Hail Mary of the Year?
It wasn't an exciting season overall

But it had its moments. OT vs. Chargers, upsetting the undefeated Packers, OT vs. Raiders.

The Bears game was exciting.

If you like watching grass grow and paint dry.

How about smoking grass and drinking pain?
DOH!!!

Damn…
How about smoking grass and drinking paint?

Try watching it live

Worste bday present ever. I wanted to punch my girlfriend square in the mouth

Wow.

That’s kind of exciting.

Don't forget the safe word
I would say that the Broncos should be on instead of the Raiders

The way they pulled out a lot of those games in the 4th quarter along with the Tebow factor was eerily entertaining as much as I hate to say that

As much as I hate to say it

You’re right. I work for Thuuz and will admit that we had to make special exceptions for Tebow. His games are absolute shit until the last 4 minutes, but undeniably exciting.

Little off topic

So Adam teicher reports Cassel will enter training camp as the starter. Is this true or is he just assuming? And what the fuck?! How’s that gonna entice Orton to re-sign?

Nothing like getting a head start on another futile season, YEAH!

“We announce today, that well, fuck it, we’ve thrown in the towel already. We figured this would save you the heartache of actually getting your hopes up, just to be let down as usual, good day”.

Just so stupid if true

Not even the offseason and theyre already labeling starters?

I doubt if Pioli's made that known.

If he even knows himself.

Cassel being on the roster

is the thing that is going to drive Orton away. Would you try out for a job if your competition was there before you and is a favorite of the Boss?

I would stay

If you know you can flat out out-play em and leave them no choice but to make em the starter. What’s his other options, Jacksonville? Cleveland? Washington? Those places are just nightmares right now

They have the same agent if we want Orton we move Matt it really is that simple

IMO it all comes down to Romeo if Romeo wants Orton well then give Romeo Orton .

Every coach wants there own guy and Matt is not Romeos guy . If we force Matt on Romeo simply to decide to dump Matt at the end of the season anyway it would be ridiculous

Our main goal right now is to keep what we had going at the end of the year going forward while also improving upon it . I hate to say it but Matt wasnt apart of that and its like giving Romeo a entirely new QB not of his choosing to start next season with.

I don't even think Matt was Haleys guy
I'd say between Ortons comments and Romeo's comments

There is a 0.8% chance that Orton is back.

I’d assume Week 1 the depth chart is
1) Cassel
2) Some random useless tool like Bruce Gradkowski
3) Ricki Stanzi.

…and we continue to waste a pretty solid core with awful QB play

Pretty great core

And with Hudson probably starting, new RT, JC and Tony back, I mean damn. All they gotta do is put 2 TVs next to each other and show on 1 tv games with Cassel and the other when Orton ran things. It’s night and day. I can’t defend em anymore. All the tools around him will not make em get rid of that ball in less than 7 seconds, it never happens.

Bruce Gradkowski > Cassel
Unfortunately

I think this is exactly what’ll happen. Here’s to another year of mediocrity!

Before McFadden and Campbell went down

The Raiders had become a pretty exciting team. When those two went down, they became the Chiefs west.

How did they rank that National Championship game?

That was as exciting as they come.

Boredom

Championship was a 50/100 in excitement. Regular season matchup scored much higher.

My best friend is a Bucs fan

so on both TVs you had dull and duller watching our two teams this year.

They weren't exciting but they did raise my blood pressure a lot.

And caused me to make up new curse words.

Well thats what you get when your 2 best players are gone week 1 and 2, the GM throws the coach under the bus and does nothing to improve the team, and you have #7 as your QB..

Its sad that my favorite games this years where the 3 Orton started..

Because the GM had nothing to do with that guy.
That was the only move he made, and he did it because it could have been his ASS insteasd on Haleys.

We could have used a Safety week 1 and a running back week 2.. Guys like RB Kevin Smith were out there and we sat there and watched #20 get not even 2 yrds a carry and allowed #42 and #47 to see the field on defense when they shouldn’t even see it on the practice squad..So your right he did bring in Orton but at that point him and Haley were far to gone and he had already thrown him under.. Haley played Palko out of spite and anger towards Pioli..

Was he throwing Haley under the bus

when he signed his boy Breaston? Or Gregg, McClain, Siler and Gaither?

Well lets look, breaston is useless with no QB, Gregg was udeful but old and much better FA out there

and he Passed on Phil Taylor, Mcclain was useless bc Haley/ didnt have many fb sets, it wasnt until crennel was in when Mclain actually was productive, Siler never played a snap in Regular season and Gaither was signed but released.. anyone else??

The Seahawks are entertaining
