I gotta say. I like Steve Breaston as a Chief. He talked with Nick Wright on 610 Sports this afternoon and it was pretty good stuff (until they started talking NBA for a minute which I just don't follow in the least bit).
From the surprises (he took the over on owning 125 pairs of shoes) to some of the changes this year (he says Todd Haley was a big reason he initially came to KC) to some actual football talk (he loves Dwayne Bowe's YAC), Breaston is a pretty entertaining interview. (Shortly after Breaston signed, a Cardinals reporter reached out to me unsolicited to say he's a great interview.)
610 Sports will podcast it shortly I assume but here's a snippet below that's, gasp, actually about football. Nick asked Breaston whether he ever hopes he could be a return man again.
"Yeah I do, I wish I could do more. I enjoyed it. It was something I was pretty good at. It was something I was always wanted to do and I always felt like I wanted to go back to doing it. I'll do whatever the coaches ask me, whatever role they had me at, I'd be at. If they need me to go back there and catch a couple punts and do what I know how to do, I'll do it."
There's some other good stuff from the interview you should check out (and we'll probably post parts of).

Over/under on how many posts Joel gets out of 1 interview?
2 and I’ll take the over.

if Joel gets his own interview I'll take the over if it's at 8
upamtn - January 25, 2012
FYI ... the Chiefs have not yet announced hiring OC or DC ... and Mike Vrabel has retired
upamtn - January 25, 2012
Joel should do a front page post about that!
Tarkus - January 25, 2012
I know, huh! :-)
upamtn - January 25, 2012
no Steve, we need you healthy to catch passes ...
upamtn - January 25, 2012
ya know
I think he sneakily had his second best season ever. 785 yards aint too bad when you consider that he had palko thowing to him for sev. games and (I’m ducking) Cassel for most of the rest. 2 touchdowns is a disappointment for sure. At age 28, I like the thought of having him around for four more years at a fair price.

I had to look this up...

Pioli NEVER makes good signingsslackator - January 25, 2012
Not sure if you missed this part, “he says Todd Haley was a big reason he initially came to KC”
manofnothi - January 25, 2012
Except
Pioli is an egomaniac who threw Haley under the bus by not giving him any help.
Tarkus - January 25, 2012
And Hunt is to cheap to pay people
nateforchiefs - January 25, 2012
If Haley had moved Albert to OC/ass't to director of player personnel, we wouldn't have this problem.
Projecting people out of their God given, natural positions: It’s got to stop, folks.
go_saleaumua - January 25, 2012
Fanshot.
Idahochief - January 25, 2012
damn, you're right ;-)
upamtn - January 25, 2012
Now if we can just get this guy the ball.
Cassel throws to damn high for this dude.
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 25, 2012
jeez! He started to finally learn how to get it to Bowe...
now your expecting him to be able to throw accurately to HIM TOO?? Don’t you think you’re asking for a bit much?
ChiefRoyal - January 25, 2012
also sorry I forgot about the sarcasm font....
ChiefRoyal - January 25, 2012
it was understood
upamtn - January 25, 2012
Only when he actually throws it. Usually the play results in a sack, throw away, or check down for no gain.
ExRoyalsFan - January 25, 2012
What about all the passes behind the line?
Or the 5 yard pass on 3rd and 14?
NJChieffan16 - January 25, 2012 via mobile
You should do a FanPost about the need for a franchise QB.
Tarkus - January 25, 2012
Franchise QB ... we need one of those?
upamtn - January 25, 2012
That's why we need a FanPost.
To tell us.
Tarkus - January 25, 2012
Preferably a FanPost of less than 75 words with a poll at the end.
ExRoyalsFan - January 25, 2012
Here's an exercise. See if you can spot the franchise QB in this picture.
ExRoyalsFan - January 25, 2012
Hint: He's probably not wearing a visor.
ExRoyalsFan - January 25, 2012
Both appear to be riding the pine.
So I’ll say neither.
Tarkus - January 25, 2012
Now I see!!!
Wichita Chief - January 25, 2012
It was supposed to say no. 7 not 1.
Wichita Chief - January 25, 2012
Only thing I was surprised about the Breaston signing
was the signing itself. I knew we didnt have a shot because I thought he was too good team player to let go but he actually came here!
Now only if Pioli would sign Braylon Edwards and Manningham then somehow get Henne and Long here to reunion them with Breaston. Now that would be my most exciting dream come true!
angrydeafman - January 25, 2012
You have to be a Wolverine fan.
I wouldn’t put Braylon Edwards anywhere near One Arrowhead Drive…except on one of those red city buses, maybe.
go_saleaumua - January 25, 2012
I wouldn't hire any new WR unless we're releasing bowe
no point in having WRs when we have no QB
Chiefshero - January 25, 2012
I approve this message.
go_saleaumua - January 25, 2012
Yup, I am a Wolverine fan...
When those guys played together, times were good.
I don’t know what happened to Braylon though…maybe Breaston made him better? ;p
angrydeafman - January 26, 2012
We know one thing for sure
There is no shortage of returnmen on this team now.
Tokyo Chief - January 26, 2012
Maybe we'll pick another one up in the 2nd round of the draft this year
yayExRoyalsFan - January 27, 2012
I like Breaston. He has
been one of the best additions to the team in recent years, plus he seems to be a fairly sensible sort.
G.L. - January 26, 2012
Yep..I agree...We'll surely drive him away or squander his talents...
at least until it’s time to re-sign him…Then he’ll take the cash & wind up on a milk carton…What ?..Getting Bitter ?…And after only 40+ years of futility ?…For Shame…
