We are less than three days and counting until your favorite game of the year....the Pro Bowl!
Okay, not so much.
But we do have football, in some capacity, coming this weekend in the form of the Pro Bowl. Only one more work day to get through before the weekend. What's everyone up to this evening? And this weekend?

Are we chasing manning
Or RGIII or staying mediocre for ever?
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
Luck after Indy lets Manning walk and goes RGIII with the first pick.
GenericBrand - January 26, 2012
That would be a shocker.
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
It would be
But if youre Irsay and you want to go in a brand new direction, you might not want to bring in a guy that is so simillar to the icon you just blew out of town. Especially if that new QB fails.
GenericBrand - January 26, 2012
Success was had with the QB just blown out of town.
The town will want to duplicate those efforts, because those efforts are proven.
ArrowSpread - January 26, 2012
Does seem like the seeds are being planted for a Manning departure from the Colts.
Have some ideas where he could end up, but really no clue.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
Miami and Arizona seem to be ready to sell out for him
If I’m Peyton though I wouldnt say those are very appealing choices other then the weather factor..
GenericBrand - January 26, 2012
I think the Chiefs are a good option, but I don't think they'll go that route.
The Cardinals have Fitzgerald and a weak division. My sleeper is the Eagles if Manning is a FA.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
The Dolphins could be appealing
With Long as his LT, Pouncey in the middle, and another Top 10 pick OL or WR for him this season potentially.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
Some pieces in Miami are nice but too much change might keep him away
He knows, especially with the injury, that his time is limited and he needs some stability to win now. The Cards only have Fitz and honestly I don’t think Manning cares who the WR are because he can make any joe errr austin into a good WR.
GenericBrand - January 26, 2012
San Francisco would make sense.
Smith was only signed for this season, wasn’t he? Who knows, it could be some out of left field team like Baltimore or Atlanta. Two teams that want to win now and think Manning gives them a better shot over Flacco or Ryan.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
You might be on to something, there.
hmills110 - January 26, 2012
49ers will own that division for a while I think
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
Yup
I think the Seahawks will be a good team if they can upgrade at QB, but the Rams and Cardinals are going to stink for a long time.
UCrawford - January 27, 2012
You think the Eagles are ready to give up on Vick?
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
well they only paid him 100 mil
they just cut him and move on
tomachop - January 26, 2012
I think they should be.
Don’t know why they ever gave him that contract. The Eagles make eyebrow raising moves, I wouldn’t put it past them.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
My longshot guess is...
The Cowboys.
It’s not a great shot, I’d say…but, I think it could happen.
Dallas is probably the best team Manning could go to, and be guaranteed to start. And Jerry Jones would squirt in his pants to have a QB like Manning…even for a few short years.
Scott B. - January 26, 2012
I could see Dallas. I bet he wants to keep playing in a dome
Great weapons all around there, improving defense, and Jerry Jones aint exactly a Romo fan right now either
nateforchiefs - January 27, 2012
Jones Isn't A Terence Newman Fan
He seems to be just fine with Romo.
When your QB throws for almost 4200 yards and 30 TDs with a 3:1 TD:INT ratio and a 66% completion percentage, your team’s problem isn’t the quarterback.
UCrawford - January 27, 2012
Did you see his comments about Romo and Eli Manning?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/01/23/jerry-jones-eli-is-the-biggest-difference-between-giants-and-cowboys/
nateforchiefs - January 27, 2012
Nope
But if Jones thinks Romo is a problem, Jones is an even bigger idiot than I thought.
The guy threw for four TDs and his team lost because the defense that Jones built couldn’t hold a 12 point lead in the 4th quarter because their defensive secondary is terrible. After which all we heard was how Romo “choked” because he didn’t throw for five TDs. Romo is one of the reasons the Cowboys haven’t been losing ten games a season every year…that’s how badly Jones has built his football team.
UCrawford - January 27, 2012
And The Biggest Difference Between The Cowboys And Giants
The Giants owner hires football people to run his franchise, whereas Jerry Jones thinks he’s football people, so he runs his own franchise.
UCrawford - January 27, 2012
I agree with all that. But because of the lack of faith in Romo
I could see Jerry making a play for Peyton. Plus there are some attractive reasons for Peyton to want to go to Dallas
nateforchiefs - January 27, 2012
I Doubt He'll Go To Washington Or Dallas
The Manning brothers have both been pretty clear that they don’t like playing each other.
UCrawford - January 28, 2012
Nope
The problems in Dallas weren’t with the QB…Romo had a good year. The problems were with the defense, particularly in the secondary. When the biggest problem you have with your QB is that he “only” threw four TDs (and no INTs) in a loss, your team’s problem isn’t the quarterback.
UCrawford - January 27, 2012
This fan shot photoshop was hilarious and sums up our striving for average ness
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
The facial expressions are dead on perfect
GenericBrand - January 26, 2012
Absolutely
That fan shot made my day. I was laughing out loud for quite a while

Senior Bowl > Pro Bowl
Watching guys who have something play for is way better than watching guys who don’t care that they’re playing.
Pickle29 - January 26, 2012 via Android app
sell the house
and get manning imo
Nihlum - January 26, 2012
Manning might let us keep the house
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
I'm 43 and have watched one Pro-Bowl.....i was a fan of Lee Roy Selmon and it was my only chance to ever really see him play. Besides that, I don't ever plan on watching one.
………I did see the highlights from last year when Steven Jackson thought it would be good to play for “real” while young Mr. Eric Berry had some respect and just tried to stand the guy up nicely. F Steven Jackson for running over Berry…..it was total BS and I’ll never forget it.
Masons - January 26, 2012
the Popularity Bowl
at least the All Star game allows pitchers to throw an inside heater on occasion …
upamtn - January 26, 2012
or a Randy johnson heater over Kruk's head
Masons - January 26, 2012
Johnson looks in for the sign, shakes his head ... shakes his head again, and again ... and it looks like we're going to have a converence at the mound
C what? one finger is a fastball, what’s up with you?
P I know, I want a slider
C you can’t throw a slider
P why not?
C game rules dictate only fastballs, right down the middle
P but he’s gonna crush it!
C yeah, and your point?
(P looks at the 2 INF and 2 OF)
P where is everyone?
C you know the new regulations … remember the memo from MLB?
P but …
C what, you want this to be some boring, 1-0 in 14 innings snoozefest?
P well it isn’t that, it’s just …
C look, we’re here to give the fans what they want, right?
P right, but …
C and the fans want offense, they want run production, they want a home run derby
P well, yeah but …
C besides, how can we argue with this gorgeous weather and a free vacation?
P we’re in a dome
C true, but it’s still nice weather
P we’re in Detroit
C there is that, so … heater?
P down the middle
C right

I didn't even know the Pro Bowl was this weekend.
I’m pumped up now.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
You guys are spelling "blow" wrong.
Scott B. - January 26, 2012
fixed
upamtn - January 26, 2012
Every time the Marlins hit a homerun in their new stadium, this will happen:
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 26, 2012
that's just wrong on so many levels
upamtn - January 26, 2012
this is the most terrifying thing I've ever seen
Chiefshero - January 26, 2012
Plus the aquarium behind home plate.
Endless entertainment.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
Apparently that things like 50 feet tall too.
Those palm trees are actual sized. I can’t wait to see it in action.
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 26, 2012
that's REAL? I mean ... they've actually got that ... THING?
upamtn - January 26, 2012
I guess.
I couldn’t believe it either. Whoever signed off on that needs to resign.
More info here
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 26, 2012
could it possibly be more garish?
upamtn - January 26, 2012
I had to look up garish in the dictionary.
And all it had was that gif.
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 26, 2012
self evident truth
upamtn - January 26, 2012
Oh its real
Word about it leaked in August or September.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
omg ... going thru the pic in that link ... LMAO
upamtn - January 26, 2012
reminds me of a roadside attraction in western Kansas
something like.. largest most gaudy baseball stadium attraction ever built
tomachop - January 26, 2012
Their new logo is pretty awful too.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
I like the new logo myself.
The art deco vibe is nice. They made the logo too big on the hats an it looks weird, but I like it as just a logo.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
The '70s Astros say hi.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
Nowhere near that level to my eye.
Lot of good tweaks to baseball uniforms this offseason. Toronto went back to their roots, so did the Orioles and Mets.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
I like the Braves' new throwback alternates.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
I hadn't seen these.
They should go to them full time, those are sweet.
BeauJackson - January 26, 2012
don't know about the soaked in urine look
but the styles of both have a classic look to them I like
tomachop - January 26, 2012
I like the royals throwback unis
Chiefshero - January 26, 2012
wild pitcch?
upamtn - January 26, 2012
Anyone have a .gif of Stevie Johnson taking out Eric Berry?

Brsrkr - January 26, 2012
then only outlaws would have toasters
upamtn - January 26, 2012
They can have my toaster
when they convince me I can’t just steal one whenever I want.
Brsrkr - January 26, 2012
Either I'm drunk, or that shit's hilarious
Or, most likely both.
ArrowSpread - January 26, 2012
Oh Ho. it's funnyy
trentchiefsfan - January 26, 2012
I've been thinking about our QB situation in comparison to the other teams in the division
Oakland: Had Gannon, Drafted Jamarcus, traded for Campbell, traded for Palmer
Denver: Had Cutler, got Orton, drafted Tebow
SD: Drafted Leaf, drafted Brees, drafted Rivers/Manning
Us: Had Green, drafted Croyle, traded for cassel, claimed orton
Have we done the least, even in our own division, to get a franchise QB? I’d have a tough time ranking these acquisitions by their ambitiousness. It seems like SD has done the most work, and surprise surprise, have had the most success at the position.
Sam D - January 26, 2012
Raiders also claimed Pryor
Or whatever his name was in the supplemental draft
ArrowheadHunter - January 26, 2012
Good call
I just went for the names that I remember starting for a while
Sam D - January 26, 2012
Yep.
Right now the Raiders have a 1, 2, 3 and 4 wrapped up in QBs.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
Seems to me, part of the point of FA QB is that the guy actually be a FA.
Draft picks are for rookies, AFAIC.
So you KNOW I wouldn’t’ve made the trade for Cassel. You do stuff like that, and then you wonder why you can’t develop your own guys. It’s because you’re shortin’ yourself picks. Heh.
hmills110 - January 26, 2012
the chiefs haven't drafted a qb in the first round since 1983
niageriannit1 - January 26, 2012
I don't think the Rams had for a long time either until Bradford, but I could have them confused with somebody else
I just wish our front office had the balls to lay down a high first rounder or more to get that guy. Even if he fails, at least it shows they’re committed to finding the solution at QB
Sam D - January 26, 2012
it does seem like GMs are afraid to pull the trigger
tomachop - January 26, 2012
And we're at a position where the team could carry a guy right now if he doesn't light the world on fire as a rookie
If we wait a couple years to draft a talented QB, we’re going to see the core of the team age and leave in FA. Of course other drafts may fill those spots, but we have a shot NOW, and I’d like to see them take it. It’s just sad knowing that it probably won’t happen
Sam D - January 26, 2012
Tough question. Those top 2 guys are likely outta reach.
But they ARE close to being able to pull something off, and round out the roster, at least 1-deep, goin’-on-2-deep, if they can keep their 3rd-rounder for an O-Lineman, and do SOMEthing in FA.
But I look at what they have and what I’d want to see improve, beFORE they go rich at QB, and I see them needing another year, to really set the table for a long, successful career for their QB. I can almost guarantee that if KC DOES draft a QB in the 1st round, the fans will go on strike if they don’t get to see their new toy YESterday. Unlike some have said, above, I think it would be very difficult for the franchise to keep a 2012 1st-rounder on the sideline. EVERYbody will scream to see the new kid, every time Cassel throws an incompletion, whether the kid is ready, or not.
I would really like the OC to come with his own QB, so to speak. That’s why it makes sense to talk to guys down there this week, because everyone needs to be on-board with the QB, and just talking to a candidate about what he thought of the QBs there, could tell you a lot.
hmills110 - January 26, 2012
Are you talking about OCs and QBs at the senior bowl practices?
I do agree with the impatience aspect though; I’m a prime example of the mindset.
Sam D - January 26, 2012
Also, I don't know if next year's QB class will be better than this coming year's
Pretty much every year the QB class is touted as deep, then people don’t declare and NEXT year’s class will be the deepest since 1983.
Sam D - January 26, 2012
Franchise QBs aren't that common.
Brsrkr - January 26, 2012
can you name a qb the Chiefs have drafted that was sucessful?
tomachop - January 26, 2012
Roger Staubach
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 26, 2012
nice!
upamtn - January 26, 2012
damn and I thought I was old school
tomachop - January 26, 2012
len dawson
Chiefshero - January 26, 2012
he was drafted by Cleveland I believe
tomachop - January 26, 2012
Or the Steelers.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
yeah I think you're right Tark
tomachop - January 26, 2012
I don't think we've had a GM with the stones to draft a 1st rnder
tomachop - January 26, 2012
we drafted someone in the 70's as well, first round
upamtn - January 26, 2012
Every year, as I recall.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
steve fuller got drafted but doesn't meet the criteria of being successful either does todd blackledge
to put it nicely.
niageriannit1 - January 26, 2012
i thought beberg was decent but he got bounced around alot with nfl teams
niageriannit1 - January 26, 2012
All of that was before my time
I started making memories right around the time Montana was retiring. So, since I’ve been a fan of the Chiefs, quarterbacks that stick out in my mind are Elvis Grbac, Trent Green, Brodie Croyle, Thiggy/Huard, and Matt Cassel. You have to think that…. some day… we’ll take one high
Sam D - January 26, 2012
rich gannon was good but marty wouldn't play him
niageriannit1 - January 26, 2012
Truth.
Sam D - January 26, 2012
montana was the best trade the chiefs made
trent green comes next
niageriannit1 - January 26, 2012
trent green was good
until he took concussions to the head
Chiefshero - January 26, 2012
does anyone remember Pelluer
I know I didn’t spell his name right but it did rhyme with sewer, and he played like ti
tomachop - January 26, 2012
Unfortunately, yeah.
Tarkus - January 26, 2012
Was looking up the Chiefs' SB ring, and came across this:
Pretty freakin’ sweet.
