Over the last few days there's been increasing chatter that the Oakland Raiders could look to the Kansas City Chiefs for their next defensive coordinator. Specifically, we're talking about Emmitt Thomas, Chiefs defensive backs coach (and NFL Hall of Famer).
Dennis Allen, the Raiders new head coach, and Smith were both in Atlanta together in the early-to-mid 2000s so there's your connection and where that chatter started. Several reporters have referred to Thomas as "Allen's mentor" and once I heard that I thought Thomas may really leave for the dark side.
The good news: he's not leaving KC.
Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, who interviewed GM Scott Pioli on Sirius XM NFL Radio this week, reports via a source that Thomas is staying in Kansas City.
Whew. I like Thomas in KC, especially with the Chiefs young secondary. Plus, the guy's a Hall of Famer and it just wouldn't be a good look if he were in silver and black. (Is it ever a good look to be in silver and black?)
So that's one coaching change avoided. The Chiefs are still filling out the staff so we haven't heard anything official from them on coaching staff changes.

But Al is dead now.
We should let him RIP.

Depends on how his son goes about the business...
We know here in KC just how different Dad and Son can be.

Still FUNNY AS HELL THOUGH!!!
Helps me take my mind off of KC this offseason and the offseason prior… The Raiders and beer that is, LOTS OF BEER!!!

One of the few things
that would be worse than when Albert Lewis switched to the dark side.

I was actually pretty worried when
the reports came out about the connection to the Raiders as the DC… Glad he is back. He has done some great things with the secondary!

Well, if I remember rightly, Emmitt said when he was hired this was his last stop.
dubld - January 28, 2012
yes he did say that - that he wanted to end it as good as it started in KC

I like that they're working to keep continuity in the coaching staff
especially with the D. That’s been our stronger suit anyway so this is great news. Now if only we can figure out something for offense and stick with it…

Al Saunders for KC Offensive Coach
Let’s keep ET and go retro aby picking up Al for our new offensive coach in 2012. He led one of the finest offensive minded teams in recent history under cry baby head coach whutz hiz name. He needs to be freed from his position as assistant coach on the Okeland Rayders…

This is fantastic news
It would not have been fun watching him walk to the Raiders.

Sign Carr - Hope this is a good omen.

Could be...
I think the Chiefs will end up signing both Carr and Bowe.
