The Kansas City Chiefs video crew, 65 Toss Power Trap, has an awesome look at the Chiefs locker room following the win over the Denver Broncos. Romeo Crennel addressed the team and it sounded like he was preparing to continue as Chiefs head coach (and I think he'd be a good bet).
That decision will come at some point but check out the video at KCChiefs.com. If you're at work and can't hide watching Chiefs videos at work, I snagged a few good quotes below.
- "You fought your tails off and it paid off for you in the end. That's the way you have to do it all the time. Like I told you, this was the end of the 2011 season but it's the beginning of 2012. Happy New Year!"
- "The power of one, guys. I knew we had it today. Everybody made a contribution, everybody helped and that's what it takes in the NFL. Going forward, we don't know what's going to happen. The chips are going to fall where they may for me, for you and for whoever else. But we finished on a good note, got a good taste in our mouth. We're going to enjoy the flight back home. We're going to enjoy the offseason and then we're going to get ready for the next year."
- "And then this other guy [looks for Casey Wiegmann], he doesn't like much notoriety but Casey...where is he? Casey! Casey! [Cheers] Listen up. He's played over 11,000 consecutive snaps in the NFL."
Doesn't matter
how old Wiegmann is in the league, he deserves a lot from us fans and the players. I think he has done a great job as Center.. Total old school player too. Hold style face mask, taped up fingers. Good ol’ Midwest boy.

And that snaps record of his,
it seems selfish on the surface, but it’s an inspiring example that can be held up for players in the future (coughMoeaki).
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
Moeaki gets a bad rap, and I'm not sure why.
Unless you want to include Charles and Berry in that same category. Otherwise, Moeaki has only missed one game of his NFL career. Due to a concussion, no less.
ArrowSpread - January 3, 2012
Lol wut? He missed this entire season!
And I don’t think he ever played a complete college season. Aaaaand….if I remember, he was out of some 2010 preseason games with some injury or other.
He’s soft, physically. Look at him, he doesn’t work out enough. Big athletic guy never had to work out to be good at sports, but it’s made him injury prone. Needs to lift some weights, stiffen up those joints.
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
I doubt you are going to find to many people on here that don't like Weigmann
and all he has done for this team.
He has lost a step and should probably retire or be 2nd string but most everyone likes him and respects what he has done.
Fozzyboyd - January 3, 2012
love Wiegs and glad he returned, and what an AMAZING streak!
… and that was his retirement party with the team
best wishes, Casey … say hi to Dani for me!!!
upamtn - January 3, 2012
That look on his face says it all
The camera only captures Weig’s face for a brief moment but if you look at it closely, it sure looks like the face of a guy who is leaving a long career.
The guy is all character and a leader by example. Time to move on to a younger center but I, for one, am going to miss the “old guy.”

A lot of things went wrong this year
But somehow they managed to pull it together, win seven games, and best of all, finish on a high note. Losing the team’s best offensive playmaker, starting QB, and getting basically crickets out of a so-so first-round pick would’ve normally doomed a team to a terrible year, but there’s reason for optimism.
Winning the last two games really made a statement for Crennel. Is that going to get him the permanent job? If not, would he stick around and coach the defense another year? I hope one or the other happens, because he’s such a likeable and competent coach. I really hope to see Crennel in a Chiefs jacket this fall.
burntorangehorn - January 3, 2012
me too
RAC has done a great job.
GaryfromIA - January 3, 2012
I think
Baldwin will be a beast next year. He had a lousy start and no training camp to speak of. Next year with a training camp and a real preseason, he’ll be ready come Game 1. We will need him to, if we lose Bowe to FA.
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 3, 2012
Plus Jones won't be here to break his thumb
KingChief - January 3, 2012
lol
GaryfromIA - January 3, 2012
I actually think there is zero chance he walks with no compensation.
There are 3 possibilities and and him be a free agent is not one.
1. long term deal
2. franchise tag plays next year and then walks or is resigned
3. franchise tag and trade
saskwatch - January 3, 2012
Might tag Carr instead.
Which would suck because of Routt’s deal busting the curve.
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
I'd see Pioli paying Carr...except for the old NE saw about finding cornerbacks about anywhere, so no need to overpay.
I wish I knew a source for that, but it’s been written more than once. That’s how the Pats have lost some pretty good talent in their secondary, and end up replacing it with draft choices, castoffs, and wideouts.
/sigh
I hope things will be different in KC…but I doubt it.
go_saleaumua - January 3, 2012
I dunno, Pioli's already diverged from NE's draft strategy a few times.
I think it comes down to dollars and cents. Every player’s contribution has a value, and Pioli won’t over pay.
I really am getting nervous about Carr. I’d hesitate to say that he’s one of the top five CBs in the league, but some team might pay him that kind of money. Only takes one dumbass to blow up a whole auction.
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
Carr played like one of the top 5 corners in the league this year though.
misterbrain - January 3, 2012
Carr wasn't even the best corner on his own team this year
Or any other year.
Very good player though.
MNchiefsfan - January 3, 2012
Thats enough
This is becoming ridiculous. He is a good CB, but not even close to top 5. Top 20 or 15 at best, but 5 is just kidding yourself. He has a knack for giving up huge plays almost every other game simply because he can’t turn his head. He is solid, but far from elite.
JC25FoMVP - January 3, 2012 via mobile
Bowe?
electriclight - January 3, 2012
I spoke to JB via twitter
He said he’s already spoken to Fitz about working out together during the off season. I think we’ll see a different Baldwin report to camp.
Chief Willie Wildcat - January 3, 2012
you mean one who gives it his all during practice? yeah, that WOULD be a nice change ...
but then, we had the same assurances right after the draft from Pioli, didn’t we?
upamtn - January 3, 2012
He's young
I’d venture to say he learned a few lessons this season. Definitely got off on the wrong foot.
Chief Willie Wildcat - January 3, 2012
Needs to do that drill where people swat him with pads while he's catching balls.
The guy needs to get better in traffic. With his size, that’s how he’s gonna be used.
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
What did you see from him during practice?
Tarkus - January 3, 2012
Yay for unsubstantiated speculation!
MNchiefsfan - January 3, 2012
Seconded.
Brsrkr - January 3, 2012
Good to see you back burntorange!
I expect to see Crennel back in a KC jacket this fall…Pioli has seen some positive results, knows what he has…If RAC can mind his game management and have some taskmasters at coordinator or on his staff, he’ll be OK. Reports from CLE about a soft training camp and locker room are a little disturbing.
go_saleaumua - January 3, 2012
If RAC is the head coach
Will we get to see stuff like this video more often? :)
LyndonReid - January 3, 2012
Aww... look at that pic. Ever notice how Kendrick excelled like 200% since RAC took over
You can see the joy on Lewis expression while RAC speaks…

Can we please resign McClain?!
He seems like the most vocal leader on the field. Especially with EB not being out their. Hope he can stay to blow up some holes for Jamaal and get more carries himself next year.
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 3, 2012
Got his teammate's back
I agree in McClain’s leadership. Even though he got penalized for it, the time he got on the official for not calling a late hit that Palko took (forget the game) and was a couple of steps on the field stand out as something a leader does. There are times when you show someone you have their back, and that goes a long way for team chemistry.
I’m not condoning getting on the field and getting a penalty, but I did like his fire.
Osage4 - January 3, 2012
I got
a real “ding-dong the witch is dead” vibe from that. On an unrelated note, I think that was Dorsey being introspective and enigmatic about his future with the Chiefs at the end.
