The Peyton Manning story is one that's big enough that most fan bases will be interested in following so we'll highlight some of the big developments that crop up over the next few weeks.
This morning, there's not a whole lot of new information -- just a bunch of rumors. But some interesting rumors, including more predictions that Manning could be done.
There was a report from NFL.com over the weekend that Colts owner Jim Irsay had already made the decision to release Manning but Peter King of SI.com says Irsay strongly denied that. King reported that Manning is having trouble getting healthy and with his big roster bonus due on March 8 it's hard to envision a scenario where Manning is with the Colts past that date.
There are also a few reporters who are saying that, if they had to guess right now, they'd say Manning is more likely to retire. That doesn't mean he will -- just that we need to remember that retirement is a possibility here.
Things can change, and they usually do, but right now it looks like Manning is either A.) going to be a free agent or B.) retire.
And, if you thought ESPN covering Tim Tebow was bad, just wait until Manning is a free agent.

I guess we will be watching Peyton Place
LadyChief - January 30, 2012
it's already been that
he said – she said
oh, the drama!
upamtn - January 30, 2012
Are you saying it's turning into a soap opera?
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
If Manning wants another Super Bowl
I can’t imagine a better scenario for him than kc. Strong core ready to compete, especially with a high caliber qb like him. Hope his neck heals, cause I’ve changed my mind. I want him here.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012 via mobile
The phrase "having trouble getting healthy" scares the crap out of me...
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Yup
Especially considering that it’s a neck injury. Joe Montana’s elbow was certainly a cause for concern, but neck injuries are far more touchy, especially in the NFL. If he’s lost strength and velocity, he’s not Peyton Manning anymore.
I’ll say this, though…if Manning becomes a free agent, I suspect he’ll be healthy enough to play because he’s always struck me as having enough pride that he won’t play if he’s not at least close to his same ability level. But at this point, I seriously doubt he goes anywhere except New York and I’m suspecting that it’s more likely we’ve seen the last of him in the NFL. Which is really unfortunate because he’s been a great player. But that’s just the way it goes…anyone’s career can end at any time.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
He signed a HUGE extension
knowing he had a serious injury…
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Who Wouldn't?
Sorry, but if somebody offers me $28 million, I’m taking it…whether I can perform at a level to justify it or not. :)
I think Manning probably figured he’d bounce back, though. Everything he’s done during his downtime indicates a guy who thought he’d be able to come back. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out, though.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I'll be surprised if he can play again.
I hope he can, but I don’t see it happening. Fusing vertebra and nerve impingement are no joke.
F250 - January 30, 2012
not true!!!
Peyton clearly said: he was fine before May!
He has more money already than he can spend in 10 lifetimes.
Roesler - January 30, 2012
I completely agree on the pride factor
I don’t think he’ll play if he doesn’t think he can be at least 80-90 percent. He doesn’t want to be one of the athletes that people remember the later years when he struggled (at least I’m guessing he doesn’t).
I also believe we may have seen the last of him.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
I don't think If/when
he becomes a free agent it’ll take that long.I’m sure if he feels as though he’s going to play,he’s already narrowed his choices down.I do believe if he can’t return he may retire & become a QB coach followed by OC then HC.
chiefs63 - January 30, 2012
Ranking possible landing spots from his point of view
1. San Fran
2. Jets
3. KC
4. Miami
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
When did he say this?
SwimCoach - January 30, 2012
My opinion of his point of view
1. San Fran – best coach, best US city, stacked team, weak ass division, Vernon Davis
2. Jets – media whore, steal lil bro’s spotlight, media whore, stacked team
3. KC – stacked team, good receivers, cap room
4. Miami – Good city, Crazy Brandon Marshal
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Nice list, H2E.
I’d have to agree with all of it. Though I think I’d have KC ahead of NYJ, only because I don’t know that Peyton would want to go to NY and compete with his brother. But I could be wrong.
Honestly, I think retirement is much more likely at this point. If he’s not healthy, that’s one more year on the sideline. For a player of any age, that might be it.
Falcon58 - January 30, 2012
Analysts have made that exact statement...
he will not go to NY to not upstage is brother…great point though!
chai1836 - January 30, 2012
A couple days ago
Rex made it pretty clear that Sanchez is his guy, and he left no room for ambiguity on that point. And Rex is usually a guy who says what he thinks.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
GM/Owner might think different
But its unlikely when he has a bonus coming in march and they’ll have to pay him 11M+ this year.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
What is unlikely?
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
That they stick with Sanchez
Not saying I agree/disagree, but that’s what he meant
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Ha!
You got it backwards!
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
Crap
I really did mean what he said, I swear! :)
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Jury
please disregard the previous testimony.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
Unlikely that they don't stick with Sanchez
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
They are more committed to Sanchez
than KC is to Cassel, if that’s possible.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
It's not even close.
The Chiefs haven’t given near the commitment to Cassel that Rex has given to Sanchez. The Chiefs have said they can win with Cassel, but have left the door open for Orton and others. Rex has said in no uncertain terms that Sanchez is his starting QB going forward.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
^ This
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Agreed.
I think the potential landing sites for Manning are a lot fewer than people think.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
He cares about his legacy
And will definitely want to go somewhere he believes he can win another SB.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
But most of those teams will already have their QB.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
All homerism aside
I genuinely see us as one of the best teams in the league without a legit starting QB.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Agreed.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
Definitely
I think Miami will be aggressive, maybe Arizona, but beyond that I don’t think there are any ‘definite’ suitors. I think the Jets would pursue as well, but I doubt Peyton would go there.
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Miami could be a threat
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Arizona Won't
They’re stuck with Kolb for another year and the Bidwills have shown they’re nothing if not cheap (except when it comes to Fitzgerald). Aside from the Super Bowl season, Arizona is one of the dregs of the NFL.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I smash on the homerism all the time on here
But if we had a healthy (or close to healthy) Peyton, yes, we are instant SB contenders.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Instant Super Bowl favorites
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
I don't think we'd be favorites...
At least by Vegas.
I think we would be right behind GB, NO and NE.
That may change by mid-season though.
Here are the odds as they stand now.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
BTW, as soon as one of my books open that
I will be pounding 50-1. Even without Peyton, that’s absurd. I think we’re the favs to win the division and at that point, it’s easy to hedge and make $.
And I have bet the Under season win totals on the Chiefs several times, I’m far from a homer gambler.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Damn...
that’s like a triple negative or something…I am confused…
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
I'm not sold on San Fran or NYJ looking for a new QB at this point
I think both stand pat
stagdsp - January 30, 2012
Harbaugh's not stupid
If he can get a bye and make it to the NFC Championship game with scrub ass Alex Smith he can go undefeated with a real QB. Plus its not like Alex Smith is in a position to get his panties in a bunch over being benched for Pey Pey.
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
makes sense from our perspective
but, I could also see him saying “Smith improved a LOT this year, and he’s our QB… no need to set him back with a Farve-like acquisition”
stagdsp - January 30, 2012
Understatement of the year. Dude’s amazing.
On the flip side, he’s SUCH a good coach (especially with QB’s) that he may well view having a genuine franchise QB as less important than a “decent” QB with a stacked team.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Exactly
What’s the point of dismantling a good thing for a QB that might not be healthy when you were a FG away from the SB.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
It wouldn't be dismantling anything
The team got to where it was in spite of Alex Smith, not because of him. They could still pound the rock and have a top shelf D.
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
What's their backup plan if Manning goes down?
Kaepernick? Because it won’t be Alex Smith, because he’ll be playing elsewhere and they sure as hell aren’t going to pay Smith franchise starting QB money only to sign Manning 2-3 months later.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
Who else is going to give Smith Franchise starting QB money?
There are only so many jobs to go around. I’ve been told this over and over again by the people here that think Orton would come back to ‘compete’ for the starting QB job.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
There's 7-8 starting jobs available
Someone will pay him because someone will be desperate enough. He’s not going to be sitting there until April/May or later without a job.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
He will if he wants to roll the dice on getting a big contract
And I count maybe 5 starting jobs available:
Mia, Cle, Wash, Sea…maybe TN.
One of those will go to RG3. One to Flynn.
And as UC said, none of them will give him big $…other than SF. It will likely be in his best interests to wait and ‘hope’ to get a decent contract from SF.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Scratch Tennessee And Washington And Probably Miami
Tennessee is committed to Jake Locker and already has Hasselbeck. Washington isn’t even close to being ready to compete for a Super Bowl…especially now that LaRon Landry has a bad Achilles that needs surgery. Miami is likely going after Matt Flynn.
I also doubt Cleveland will be interested or that Manning would want them, considering the crap state of their WR corps and o-line. They’re still rebuilding. Seattle is possible on that list.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
You missed what I was replying to
I was replying to the comment that there will be 7-8 starting jobs open.
Which GB thinks A. Smith would fill.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
No, I Got It
I was agreeing with you.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Oh, Wait
Yeah, my bad.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Nowhere
He’s not getting starting money from anywhere except San Francisco. He’s got a market of one team and if San Fran re-signs him, I suspect they get a very low “starter” salary.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
No one is giving Smith crazy money
Sign Smith, sign Manning, win Super Bowl, Manning goes out on top, hand keys back over the Smith
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Harbough took him from putrid to decent in one year
Wonder what he could do with several?
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
So 8+M to Smith and another 15-20 to Manning.
They’re going to wrap that much money up in 2 QBS?
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
I Doubt Manning Gets $20M
More like $10M with incentives. Nobody is betting the farm on a guy with a bad neck. And if he played again, he’d be going for a Super Bowl.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
We talking guaranteed?
That will depend completely off his medical reports.
I could see him getting $20 mil if he can convince a team to wait until the Summer, and he has proven or mostly proven his health.
If he can’t…he may not even get $10 mil guaranteed.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
It's Possible, But
I don’t think any team gunning for a championship and needing a QB is going to be willing to wait until summer, except maybe the Niners. And I doubt they’ll be breaking the bank for Manning at $20M considering that they aren’t even going to be able to re-sign Carlos Rogers or Shawntae Spencer. If he plays in San Fran to win a title, I think he does so for a discount.
And I don’t think Manning cares as much about the money as he does about competing.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Basically
If he doesn’t sign in New York or San Francisco, even if he’s healthy enough to play I don’t think he comes back.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Those are the favorites, as I see it
And I’ve been saying that for awhile.
It’s hard to know how he views the Chiefs, and that’s the wildcard.
He may realize the potential, or he may see us as a mess from the top down. Who knows.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
If We Don't Have A Good OC Hire
I don’t think we even get considered. And by “good” OC hire, I mean somebody who makes people say “wow”.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
OTOH
If you are Peyton, and you could ‘pick’ your OC, like get Tom Moore to come back for a couple years…maybe he would prefer that?
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
I think he does care about the money too
Not that he’d go play in Jacksonville because they give him $30 per year, but I don’t think he’d accept a major discount to play for another contender. Just basing this on the fact that he & his agent really dug in vs Indy to get the best contract in the league.
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Then again, he can only take what's offered
or retire
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
They Didn't Dig In That Much
Irsay made a point of saying before negotiations started that Manning would be the highest paid player.
I agree that Manning plays for money…but I think he’s also the kind of player who would take a discounted deal elsewhere for a shot at one last ring if he’s healthy enough to play.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
And I Think Smith Will Be Lucky To Get $8M
I think he’ll be closer to Tarvaris Jackson…$8M for two years.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I agree with this
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Jackson got $8m per season, or over two?
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Total
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
$4M Per
A relative bargain for his performance this year. He wasn’t that good, but wasn’t that bad.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
yeah, for a starting QB that's a low figure
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
I don't know
how anyone can live on a paltry $4 mill a year…
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
Yeah but he's so damn close right now
Another angle, he may be so close right now that he can give his entier draft to Indy for #1 overall. He’s a former QB and he developed the greatest QB prospect of our time. He knows the importance and I can’t see him being content with what he’s got.
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Good call with Luck
If I was Harbough I’d be willing to give up Smith, this year’s entire draft, and next year too.
Those two would win at least 3 or 4 SB’s together IMO.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
SF's problem is where they are picking...
Both this year and in future years.
They would have to pay a LOT more in terms of picks just b/c they will be picking in the back of drafts.
A team like Wash, Sea or Cle, are both bad now, but also you may expect them to be bad in years to come. So 3 #1’s from Cle, for instance =’s a heck of a lot more from SF.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Seattle Is A Team On The Rise, I Believe
Their biggest problem early on was that they replaced four starters on the o-line and had no offseason to get them practicing together. By season’s end, they were a much better unit. They have a very solid run D and a decent offense. They’re a QB away from being a good team, I think.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I'm somewhat on board with that...
And I actually think Wash isn’t that far away either if they had a good QB, which is why I singled out Clev. Of course, if I’m Clev, it makes much more sense to swap picks with STL to get to #2, for far less and roll with RG3.
Still, contrast any of those teams with SF…and you are counting on much better picks over the next 2-3 years.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
I Think They're A Lot Further Off
Santana Moss is done and I don’t think they have a #1 WR otherwise. Some young talent, but far too dodgy for Manning to consider. I’m betting Washington ends up drafting Ryan Tannehill.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
They had a solid D, and with terrible QB play, a decent O this year
They also were horrible in TO ratio, and a lot of that goes away with a new QB and better luck.
As a gambler, I backed them on a number of occasions this year and did well.
They also beat the piss out of the NFC Champ twice.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Valid Point
But still it’s tough for me to consider a team with DeAngelo Hall as their shutdown corner to be that serious a contender.
Plus, it looks like LaRon Landry is a candidate for Achilles surgery…which he’s refusing to get. Subtract him from the equation and they aren’t nearly as good.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Or
Makes a serious play for Matt Flynn.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Cleveland
will trade its 2 #1 picks this year to move up 2 spots and grab RGIII. Bank on it.
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
To Move Up Three Spots?
I think their first pick and second rounder would probably do it.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Good point
CLE is the reason i don’t believe we even have a prayer of landing RG3
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Yup
See what I just posted right above. It makes too much sense to not happen, for both STL and Cle.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Agreed
If St. Louis trades down, I think it will be to Cleveland.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I think it depends on who's available
if either of those teams can get a healthy Peyton Manning I think they’ll both quietly pursue him but if the best FA QB is Orton or Grossman then I think they’ll stick with what they have.
aFan4Life - January 30, 2012
The question for any team
Is are you willing to go Manning or bust? If SF signs Manning it’s doubtful Alex Smith would re-sign there to be a backup for the next 2-4 years of his career. So what happens if Peyton gets hurt again & can no longer play…you’re basically without a QB & done. The same goes for any other team that would sign him.
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Won't get to that point in San Fran
Alex Smith is a FA 5 days after Manning has to be released and they’ll be committed to him long before Manning gets medical clearance.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
Good point.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
You say that like teams will be beating the door down to sign Smith
And that if they ‘lost’ him they couldn’t replace him with an Orton type.
Smith’s only hope for a big contract is from SF. Otherwise, he’s going to be competing with Orton for whatever the one starting QB spot is left whenever the song ends and the last chair is left.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Who Is Going To Be Going After Alex Smith?
Granted it’s impressive how hard he fought to come back, but his career in San Francisco has been a bust. Injuries, poor development and now limited ability. You’re talking a guy with less upside than Orton…he might be a sought-after backup but nobody cares about making him a starter except San Fran.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
san fran
Got to compete with green bay dallas eagles saints harder road to super bowl. Jets are a mess of a team who would want to play for them
rickrock58 - January 30, 2012 via mobile
In either conference you have to compete with good teams once you get to the playoffs
Is playing Green Bay really much diferent than playing New England or a healthy Pittsburgh? NFC West is the one division that may be worse than the AFC West, cake walk to the playoffs
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Best US city?
And the AFC west is pretty weak too.
I don’t think the Jets are as stacked as we think.
I think KC is ahead of those two.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
Plus, how do the 49ers let go of Alex Smith after this year?
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
To get Peyton Freaking Manning
That’s how.
craig in calgary - January 30, 2012
Haha. Touche.
I just think it’s less likely in this case, seeing as how they could consider themselves set at QB.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
Did you watch his 4th Q and OT performance vs. NYG?
Horrendous.
kcsno56 - January 30, 2012
Yes, San Fran is the best US city....by a long shot
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
By what reckoning?
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
By everyone imaginable
Climate, culture, food, things to do, safety, architecture, on the coast, diversity. Try getting out of JoCo and seeing whats out there
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
I'd say Portland edges out SF
but both are great cities. I’d go w/ Vancouver B.C. over any of ’em though
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Portland > SF
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
Meh, if I'm ranking the northewest I'm putting both Seattle and San Fran ahead of Portland
Vancouver and Toronto are giving SF a fight for North America’s top city
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Other places in the US has that stuff.
And did you miss the whole fight at their stadium thing?
San Fran, if google is correct “in 2008, out of the 83 largest cities in the united states, SF had the 34th highest assault rate, the 26th highest murder rate, the 24th highest total violent crime rate, and the 17th highest robbery rate. And now we get to the real issue
Take my prior comment back, stick to JoCo

I can't remember where I read it
but it was an article that said KC is a midwest city, and Manning has grown to really like the midwest lifestyle.

Because those things are so virtuous, right?

That city is HOPPING…(okay, where’s that damn sarcasm font…)
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
As long as you aren't there for one of those 500 year earthquakes
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
You forgot KC and MIA: both in AFC
Better chance to shellack IND and their precious rook in the playoffs
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
And NYJ for that matter...
Sheesh
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
I'd put us at #2
And maybe #1…San Fran might be happy with Alex Smith’s performance after this post-season. Are the Jets done with Sanchez? And even if they weren’t would Peyton want to upstage his bro by coming to NY and also want to play the Pats twice or maybe 3 times a year? And I think with some draft and FA pickups to fill out the right side of the line (DeCastro and Nicks, or Decastro and Sanders or Reiff and some other right guard pickup) our line is pretty well set. I think our team as a whole is better than Miami, and has better receivers, Brandon Marshall not withstanding.
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
Id say it would be
SF
Arizona
Miami
Vikings
Jets
Willie Beamon - January 30, 2012
KC's not even in the running?
Vikings think they have their guy in Ponder.
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
Won't be San Fran or Miami.
San Francisco will have to make a decision on Alex Smith long before Manning gets cleared to play and he starts looking for a team and I just can’t see Miami potentially going into OTAs with no QB.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
honestly dont think we will see him play again
I think he will retire
banshee_01 - January 30, 2012

stagdsp - January 30, 2012
I had a crazy thought about this^^^
What are the rules if we were to hire Manning as the OC, and had him fill in a bit ac Quarterback? Would that be a hit on our cap space or just staff money?
Bassbustin - January 30, 2012
It Would Be A Cap Hit
Because he’d have to get a salary as a player. No way around that. I don’t even know that the NFL allows player-coaches, actually.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Durn, thought it was a good idea.
OH well, we got some room on the cap, if healthy sign and pay the man. I do remember Joe coming to town and how shocked the NFL world was on that day. I was kinda Giddy myself.
Bassbustin - January 30, 2012
But...think of the commercials!
cheapham - January 30, 2012
At least with Peyton they'd have an actual reason to talk.
“There’s been a report out of our subsidiary in Azerbaijan, that there was a man who saw Tebow in his toast. The baked flour and water mixture has reportedly been encased in a tomb near a Christian temple in the city of Baku. "
KCJayhawk - January 30, 2012
toast = pastry = Peyton Popups

upamtn - January 30, 2012
The only reason the coverage of Tebow was bad was because he didn't deserve it.
Manning absolutely deserves the spotlight.
wustl_chiefs_fan - January 30, 2012
i bet hunts tight-wad,money-hungry...
mind has been racing to see what kind $$$ manning could bring in on ticket sales and other items if we signed him.
wolfpack0735 - January 30, 2012
The day we sign him...
I’m buying that jersey…go along nicely with my Montana jersey…
AnkenyChiefsFan - January 30, 2012
I can't wait for Peyton to hit the market
and for the Chiefs to make absolutely no attempt to get him.
Bono Bootleg - January 30, 2012
At least the Manning coverage would be warranted--Hall of Famer leaving the only team he's played for.
The ESPN Tebow nightmare was just ridiculous.
Rev. Slappy - January 30, 2012
Agree about Tebow
I can’t even watch ESPN. They have decided that kid is money and they can talk about him til they are blue in the face, I wish everyone would just change the channel so they’d get the hint.
Spiderwomn69 - January 30, 2012
IDK
After the 4th or 5th straight win it was starting to get warranted
“QB with no real QB skills on hottest team in NFL”
Before that, though, I totally agree.
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
and here I thought it was all about
“the virgin QB with herpes simplex 1”
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Hey, misunderstandings happen
I thought it was about
“How on earth did the starting QB for Florida stay a virgin?”
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Touche!
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
If I Had To Bet
He isn’t.
Sorry, but consider the quality of tail that gets thrown at pro football players, nobody is THAT pure.
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
I have a hard time believing that some groupie type chick
Wouldn’t have blown the whistle on him by now.
You KNOW so-called “journalists” would offer money for a chick that could prove she’d been, ahem, Tebowed…
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
Didn't Say It Was A Groupie
You think QBs aren’t able to score hot non-groupie women who can keep their mouths shut?
UCrawford - January 30, 2012
Or they go to pros.
I’m not suggesting Tebow has gone to prostitutes but a lot of famous people do because those broads will keep their mouths shut.
Rev. Slappy - February 3, 2012
I think he should retire
He needs to look out for himself. Every team that wants him. I know he wants another shot at a championship (especially if Eli wins next week), but the risk of possibly getting hit and never walking again seems too high. Plus it’s always better to go out on top, don’t Favre your career Peyton!
Spiderwomn69 - January 30, 2012
As long as Manning doesn't throw his religion in my face...
I will actually enjoy watching the media circus.
chai1836 - January 30, 2012
Right now I'm more interested in his recovery prognosis.
I read recently that he has tried stem cell therapy in order to promote healing.
If that is indeed true, that is cutting edge therapy that is NOT completely proven to work, which may indicate that medically he is just not healing correctly.
BCRavenJHawkfan - January 30, 2012
um, yeah...
Won’t it be fun to see Peyton trying to play for another team and the ball comes out at some point in his throwing motion (aka Brad Johnson) every third time he takes it back?
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Adult stem cells, mind you.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
What difference does that make?
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Just an opportunity to get a Pro Hate stance out there
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
Because adult stem cells hate people.
So intelligent, H2E. Makes one envious.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
And, you know, since you're the epitome of non-hate and tolerance.
HIV 2 Elway.
Another one for the hypocrite pile.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
Because hating an individual is so analogous to grouping people together that you have never met and that will never have an impact on your life and trying to restrict their rights and liberties
HIV 2 Elway - January 30, 2012
I missed where this thread went from
Peyton’s recovery prognosis to a discussion on social conservatism. I thought that one was back up the page a bit.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
You mean like murderers?
And no, there really isn’t a big diff.
And IF you could point out where I said I hated any group of people, it would be nice; since I don’t….
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
You want Pro Hate?
Just attend a Tea Party gathering.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
I have. I've attened OWS as well
In my experience with the two, a LOT more hate was spewed at OWS.
Maybe it was the exception, but it’s worth noting…
MNchiefsfan - January 30, 2012
And you're doing the very thing here you accuse them of.
bossmanham - January 30, 2012
I think this will take awhile to sort itself out too so expect this soap opera to continue.
If Peyton decides to retire or play, the decision probably won’t be made until long after he’s released.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
Hard to imagine how the decision
could be made until long after he’s released, if he is released. There is no way on earth he is healthy before that roster bonus comes due.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
I honestly wouldnt expect a decision until after the draft.
When most of the teams who would be in the running will have drafted an option or will be neck deep in bonuses and salaries for their current starters.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
Yep...
It’s highly unlikely Pey Pey plays anywhere in 2012… just my opinion, of course, ‘cuz I’m no investigative journalist (one of the few things I’m not mind you) but it gets harder and harder to see how any team takes a leap for Peyton with his health issues and the money he can still probably command.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
"Neck deep"
I see what you did there.
DrDC - January 30, 2012
if KC fixes their O-Line in the draft
and if Peyton can get healthy this year, I think KC is looking pretty attractive after the draft. It’s one team where an offensive system isn’t established. He could come in and make it his pretty quickly.
ChiefsDude - January 30, 2012
Baltimore hiring Caldwell today probably means they'll go after him
As for KC, the big advantage we have is the cap space to pay him like an elite QB without sacrificing other spots on the roster. That assumes Pioli & Hunt are actually willing to pay him, which is questionable.
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
because Caldwell coached him
for about one year?
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Caldwell was the QB coach in indy for like 10 years
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
So Peyton made Caldwell
and Caldwell owes him a favor?
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
Or maybe Caldwell owes
Ferentz a favor, since he started there… man it goes deep.
neiowakcfan - January 30, 2012
If Baltimore gets Manning though they likely let Flacco walk.
And then we pick up Flacco because his favorite mentor is our QB coach. He’s not an enormous upgrade but at least he has an NFL arm.
GenericBrand - January 30, 2012
yeah, I don't care for Flacco, but I guess he'd be an upgrade
jmcgoblue - January 30, 2012
Vinny Testaverde has a better chance of playing again...
ArrowDread - January 30, 2012
It doesn't matter how good of a situation the Chiefs are in
You have to look at this from the outside. KC is practically invisible when looking at it from a media perception standpoint. SF and the Jets are in the spotlight right now, so those are the realistic options in my opinion. It sucks to say it, but the Chiefs aren’t even in this conversation.
old_school - January 30, 2012
Indy is not exactly a huge media market.
And Peyton has done pretty well for himself there. Just like Joe Montana did in K.C.
Tarkus - January 30, 2012
I'd rather have Matt Cassel than Peyton Manning
Brad-KC - January 30, 2012
just kidding, I’m not stupid
