Boy, wouldn't this be nice. You're basically an unknown NFL player to most fans, you spend the season bouncing from team to team including a stop with the Kansas City Chiefs, and then you end up catching on with a team that has a chance to win the Super Bowl.
That could be the scenario for Chiefs TE Cody Slate faces.
He worked out with the San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday, according to CSN Bay Area, likely due to 49ers TE Delanie Walker being doubtful for the playoffs at the moment.
Slate spent a couple of training camps with the Chiefs. He was released on the final cut down day before the season.

If he "catches" on...
It’s really going to suck for our talent evaluation, considering how bad our TEs have been.

yep
Slate actually impressed me… Would of been better than becht in my opinion

you'd have been better than Becht ...

Would Cody have run into Battle and stopped a (rare this year) TD run?
Probably not…

You ever look at Bewsaf's breakdowns?
Becht had some outstanding games blocking.

Could have two TEs the Chiefs cut in the NFC championship game. Tom Crabtree.

Good for him
He looked pretty good at times during the pre-season. Wanted him to succeed.

Yup. That photo was the TD strike courtesy of Ricky Stanzi

Hope he gets to play for them
seemed like he had a ton of potential, not sure why we didn’t keep him,
Spiderwomn69 - January 5, 2012
I thought the same thing Spidey...possibly was another casualty of Haley's favorites system...

He was on the news the other day.
He’s doing charity work around KC.

Can>'t be worse than Jake O'ffsides

I was hoping they'd keep him over Pope this year
Best of luck to him.

stanzi
i find it hard to believe stanzi would’ve been worse than tyler palko. what complete mistake and missed opportunity by the chiefs coaches.
michaelaglover - January 5, 2012
Good luck Cody

Decided to watch this video
Couple of things that I noticed… Gaither is playing LT.
Who was wearing #42 during the preseason?
dbaty7 - January 5, 2012
i was sort of hoping to see slate return next year for camp
now, id be estatic if the man who caught a great pass from stanzi, gets his shot with the 49ers.
fyi, take that alex smith haters. i think maybe 5 of us felt he was a legit qb still
SDChief - January 5, 2012
I'm one of em
Sure he may not be an “elite” QB, but after all the coaching changes they’ve gone through in San Fran, the fact that he’s playing fairly well says something about him I think.
bh13 - January 5, 2012
yeah, i just always felt he wasnt as bad as people said. that he sort of got a bad rep for mediocre play
people made him out like he was a ryan leaf level of bust. yet there was always something there that at the least said he could be a 8-12ish qb ranked game manager….still not good for the top pick, but thats on the 49ers for going away from rodgers when they felt he was too cocky
SDChief - January 5, 2012
thanks
now im man crushing over stanzi on youtube
