The Kansas City Chiefs reportedly interviewed Joe Philbin, the Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator, on Wednesday. He and interim coach Romeo Crennel are the only two known candidates for the job.
If the Chiefs are interested in hiring him, they could have competition.
Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports Philbin will also be interviewing with the Miami Dolphins by this weekend. Those are the only two known jobs for which Philbin has interviewed.
The Dolphins are one of the teams reported to be in the running for Jeff Fisher but they're doing due diligence checking out multiple candidates. The Chiefs have had at least "several" interviews before the season ended but we don't know of any other candidates.

This right here should be a sign
If he is allowed to interview during the playoffs, he must not be a major factor on the offense. All his focus should be on winning another SB, not a HC job

League rules
League rules state that if he doesn’t interview during the bye week, he has to wait until his team is eliminated. Teams don’t like to wait until after the Super Bowl to interview a guy. He would be at a disadvantage to wait that long. Most jobs would be filled.

so he should be sitting down doing FOUR DIFFERNT game plans, each one specifically tailored to go against the team the Packers face next ?
during a bye week?
right!

Never said he shoud be drawing up game plans for 4 different teams
All I said was he should be focused on winning another SB, not a HC job. It could be a distraction like the whole Weiss thing last year.

Which part
KingChief - January 5, 2012
That interviewing for a promotion somehow distracts him from a game next week

It's a good thing the Patriots don't interview Philbin for HC
Pioli would hire him immediately after

would shock me if he was willing to go right back to the decision that put the chiefs in the position they are now
i dont get it really….i sort of expected coaches wtih serious experience would be the major candidates….take billick, if they brought him to kc, put crennel and gibbs and thomas with him at the helm, hire an offensive staff, and this might be the team that brings defense back to the nfl…..of course that wont happen
