For the first time in nearly a month, since the Kansas City Chiefs fired him, we have news of Todd Haley potentially taking another NFL job. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that Arizona Cardinals head coach Ken Whisenhunt plans to speak with Haley about a spot on the coaching staff.
Haley, of course, was the Cards offensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008 before moving on to the Chiefs. He had plenty of success in Arizona, including a Super Bowl run, so I think he's well-liked by Whisenhunt, who he's known for a long time, and his staff.
The Cardinals offense has been pretty bad ever since Haley left but that could also be because of the departure of Kurt Warner as well. (Those Hall of Famers tend to help offenses.) It's unclear what role exactly Haley would have on the staff but Somers says he would "likely" be in charge of the offense again.
Mike Jurecki of XTRA 910 Sports reported that Haley still has a home in Arizona.
What do you think of the chances of Haley going back to Arizona?

Good for Todd!
DSteck42 - January 6, 2012
I have no beef with Todd...
he is a good offensive coordinator, just lacking in the people skills department, and he is incredibly stubborn/arrogant.
5280ChiefsFan - January 6, 2012
Meh.
There is very little evidence that he’s a good offensive coordinator. I’d like to see him get the chance, just to prove himself one way or another.
Tarkus - January 6, 2012
Hey
Being the fall guy for a year or two is better than having no job at all. I think all coordinators go into it knowing they’re probably the first one on the chopping block if things go wrong.
TheScootness - January 6, 2012
Blast. That was in response to your pink slip comment below
Stop moving around!
TheScootness - January 6, 2012
Ha!
I just meant Haley kind of sealed his own fate by making Muir his OC and playcaller. Whisenhunt could be doing the same thing, though at least Haley has some experience, unlike Muir.
Tarkus - January 6, 2012
Probably the best place for him to get back on his feet
jmcgoblue - January 6, 2012
Man!
Wisenhunt must really be desperate!
Matt_Grbac - January 6, 2012 via mobile
Haley could turn into Whisenhunt's Muir.
He’d better be careful or he could be signing his own pink slip.
Tarkus - January 6, 2012
Yup
Kevin Kolb was a horrible trade theis year. Their offense has been in shambles since Kurt Warner hung it up.
UCrawford - January 6, 2012
I will miss the arrogant bastard.
Mr.Pibbs - January 6, 2012
Me too
TheScootness - January 6, 2012
It better happen.........
Because that is one of the few places where they are NOT going to ask Scott, Clark, or Parcells for a recommendation/evaluation.
SinceMG - January 6, 2012
I have never heard Parcells speak badly of Todd Haley.
DSteck42 - January 6, 2012
Nor will you
However, can you imagine what the conversation might have been like at Thanksgiving when son in law, Scott, and “dad” had an after dinner chat?
I don’t think Parcells will publicly say anything negative, but in private…………….
And if you have those 3 not giving a positive recommendation there are not a lot places to go.
SinceMG - January 6, 2012
Or Parcells think his Son in Law is a Know it All, and give Todd a glowing review.
We’ve really got no way to substantiate any of this, that’s all I’m saying.
go_saleaumua - January 6, 2012
Question.
If Philbin=Flynn, then by by that same formula, can Haley=Palko?
severn58 - January 6, 2012
Yep
Could also potentially mean Haley=Cassel.
I’m sure Haley would lobby for Cassel if Pioli were looking to trade him.
Matt_Grbac - January 6, 2012 via mobile
Then this would be the greatest move since Pryor did it back in '88, sign me up.
severn58 - January 6, 2012
I loved that movie.
Moving was one of his best movies. I also hope we can unload Cassel for a 3rd round or higher pick if haley does lobby for Cassel in AZ. But who knows.
LocoGonzo - January 6, 2012
I dont know if you remember the fight on the sideline
and the reported fact that Haley had to use Zorn to talk to his QB… :)
KSU-Chief - January 6, 2012
I would be all for it!
Provided we had a capable QB on the roster. If Orton signs with someone else we would still need a capable backup. if we do not get a QB in the draft I would really hope Pioli goes after Flynn from GB. He will be a very good QB.
LocoGonzo - January 6, 2012
You mean we would still need a capable starter
Cassel is a perfectly good backup.
David Rice - January 6, 2012
I don't know
I always got the impression that Pioli dumped his NE kid Cassel on Haley. Remember, Haley worked with Warner so I’m sure he was fully aware of Cassel’s shortcomings. He knows what good QB play looks like and he knows that shit wasn’t even close. I’m sure he wouldn’t have gone with Cassel if he had a choice.
TheScootness - January 6, 2012
he had Brodie ...
just sayin’ :-)
upamtn - January 6, 2012
Not much of a choice.
TRSChief - January 6, 2012
I think the same thing
I keep remembering the Vikings game this year where he screamed at Cassel for giving up on a screen play. As bad as Herm was as a coach, he seemed to at least be able to get the players he wanted. I’m not so sure Haley had as much input and it kind of seems like he played Palko so much as a way of protest.
kc_radrh8r - January 6, 2012
severn, why the hatred for the Cards?
upamtn - January 6, 2012
I don't, but I'll play.
Because Conrad Dobler played for them, and he’s the rootinest, tootinest, shootinest, hootinest offensive lineman you eva done seen!
/I don’t hate Conrad Dobler.
severn58 - January 6, 2012
I would assume the Franchise Player in Arizona
might have had something to say about it…
KSU-Chief - January 6, 2012
Just a thought
Haley in Arizona = Fitz and Bowe?
Bsketbal52 - January 6, 2012
No way they can afford that
Fitz and Kolb already have huge contracts. If they tie all their money up in 3 players they won’t be able to improve the team as a whole.
KingChief - January 6, 2012
Good luck without Warner.
m.yashi - January 6, 2012
so long todd
Maybe somehow he can work palko in on the team,so they can remain dumb and dumber.
chiefsfool - January 6, 2012
Palko will probably become a successful NFL or college coach
I love the guy. Not so hot on his QB skills.
ChiefConcern - January 6, 2012
Aside from a few VERY questionable throws/decisions
he actually improved the offense in some ways
LHO - January 6, 2012
Well PHX does have a lot of golf courses
HIV 2 Elway - January 6, 2012
nice!
upamtn - January 6, 2012
Guy potentially cost us a playoff berth.
Screw him.
bossmanham - January 6, 2012
Guy also got us a playoff birth
KSU-Chief - January 6, 2012
What!?! He Delivered A Baby!?!
:)
UCrawford - January 6, 2012
He's overrated as an OC. Guess Whisenhunt can babysit him again.
I just don’t get why people think he was a great OC. He called plays for 1.5 years. For the first .5 Whisenhunt did before turning it over to him. It’s not like he had to install a offense or anything. He basically just called plays for an offense that was given to him. That’s like when your dad pushed the bike to get it started the first time the training wheels were taken off, all you had to do was not fall down. Easier to do with a HOF, SB winning QB.
Fozzyboyd - January 6, 2012
Thanks for smearing a childhood memory sense of accomplishment.
kcgiant06 - January 6, 2012
Obviously Whisenhunt thinks differently...
LHO - January 6, 2012
Have fun
The man couldn’t put a fuckin gameplan together if he was playing Madden on rookie level. Good riddance you son of a bitch! And thanks for destroying what little chance we had at the payoffs this year!
KCinIL - January 6, 2012
HA!
Try watching tape of the Cardinals when Haley was O coordinator. A brilliant play-caller and that’s known by everyone who follows football. Even Haley-haters understand that.
I wish him well and will continue to follow his career. Big time players respect and like Haley. There’s a reason for that. There’s a reason Parcells wanted Haley to be his HC in Miami.
ChiefConcern - January 6, 2012
I have no respect for that guy
And like people said numerous times, Kurt Warner(who if you went back audibled a shitload), Fitz, Boldin, and Ken had a big part in the offensive gameplan. Fuck him =)
KCinIL - January 6, 2012
Don't you mean
thanks for the division title last year?
LHO - January 6, 2012
I have no beef with him
I wish him nothing but the best of luck and success. Wish it would have come with the Chiefs.
David Rice - January 6, 2012
Haley to the Cards
And Palko along with him→best story line of 2012 yet!
theSaukchief69 - January 6, 2012
I'd love for him to be the offensive coordinator
Hopefully we face him before he leaves so the defense can exact revenge for his offensive ineptitude that kept them on the field for 3/4ths of every single game.
JC25FoMVP - January 6, 2012 via mobile
If Haley is smart he'll hold out for when Chicago calls
Kolb < Cassel and Haley didn’t even want Cassel.
GenericBrand - January 6, 2012
Good for him
I hope he has success there.
TheScootness - January 6, 2012
Same here
urod69 - January 6, 2012
yep
LHO - January 6, 2012
On the personal side.....
Family well liked in KC. Kids popular at school, where they will be missed if they move. Coincidentally, Pioli’s kids at the same school. Haley popular and involved there. A bit hit when he took Dexter over for an assembly last year.
HowSweetItIs - January 6, 2012
Sorry, "a big hit"
HowSweetItIs - January 6, 2012
Love for him to return to Arizona
Let’s see what he can do with
Kurt WarnerJohn Skelton and Kolb – Mr. Offensive Coordinator {roll eyes}58 was my friend - January 6, 2012
My money would be on Haley winning a SB with the Cards before the Chiefs do...
LHO - January 6, 2012
really, wow
I don’t give the Cards a chance at winning a free prize at a gas station w/o Warner. Then again,… who do we have
tomachop - January 6, 2012
Such hatred for Haley?
Did we forget what Haley inherited? Ya, you can say that Crennel and Weiss helped, but last year was our first decent season in how long? Plagued by injury this year we lost some games, How can so many people hate on this guy? Other coaches did A LOT worse here than he did.
Undaunted_Fish - January 6, 2012
Who gets the black eye from this thread?
Chiefs fans. Haley did much for this team. Nothing that is said now will change that.
