Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 1/8

Good morning. We have a very light day of Kansas City Chiefs news for you today. Enjoy.

By the time his first week was finished, the Chiefs had beaten the previously undefeated Packers and Crennel had a locker room full of players on his side.

Perhaps general manager Scott Pioli as well. The Chiefs interviewed other candidates seemingly only to verify their initial thought - that the 64-year-old Crennel was the right man for the job.

No other viable contender emerged, and now the Chiefs seem poised to give the job to Crennel in the upcoming days.

Former Chiefs guard Will Shields has been inducted into one Hall of Fame already this winter, the College Football Hall of Fame.

Now, he has a chance at another.

Shields and offensive tackle Willie Roaf, two pillars in one of the game's most productive offensive lines with the Chiefs, are among 15 modern-era finalists for enshrinement into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

We told you earlier Saturday that Josh McDaniels was expected to return to the Patriots. Now it's official.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports McDaniels finalized a contract with New England.

McDaniels Starts With The Patriots On Monday from ProFootballTalk

O'Brien performed the grunt work of breaking down film, a job typically held by coaches more than 10 years younger. He proved himself quickly, however, rising through the ranks as Eric Mangini and Josh McDaniels had done.

"It was interesting to have someone that age, again with that background, willing and wanting to take that position," said Scott Pioli, the Kansas City Chiefs' general manager, who served as vice president for player personnel with the Patriots.

"That says a lot about Bill's humility. He's got a great balance of humility and confidence."

Joe from St. Louis wants to know if I think the Chiefs will add a running back in the offseason.

BW: The talk is that Kansas City will add a bigger back to complement Jamaal Charles. Thomas Jones is not expected to be back.

Rumor has it...

Peyton Hillis won’t be with the Browns next year. I’d take him in a heart beat

Peyton Hillis is as overrated as B Carr is underrated.
youyr team would lose consistently
No way The Willies get into together this year

but wouldn’t that be awesome if they did? I’m thinking Roaf gets in this year, shields next year or year after.

Though looking at the finalists, this is the weakest year i can remember

•Modern-era finalists: Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, Cris Carter, Dermontti Dawson, Edward DeBartolo, Jr., Chris Doleman, Kevin Greene, Charles Haley, Cortez Kennedy, Curtis Martin, Bill Parcells, Andre Reed, Willie Roaf, Will Shields, Aeneas Williams.

Chris Carter should get in, a crime he’s not an michael irvin is. I can see Martin, Roaf, Parcells get in. I would have thought Debartolo isn’t eligible for his gambling

Dermontti Dawson? Curtis Martin?? Greene, Williams ... wow ... I see 1/3 I'd toss off anyway

… and a couple of good names that DIDN’T make this list that maybe should have

Now that romeo is the man?

Go out and spend some money on some good free agents, and have a decent Draft,we could be a contender again maybe.Pioli has got to get this right this time or he will be joining Haley and others for employment.their schedule is very favorable next year, but so is the other Afc teams. sorry just cant get to excited right now on this citiation.

Our schedule is favorable?

Playing the NFC South, AFC North, Buffalo, Indy, and our rivals who we never can beat twice in one season is favorable?

Dude if you're going to steal my AP name at least learn how to spell, Situation.
