NFL Playoffs: Drew Brees, Saints Look Very Tough To Beat

Watching the New Orleans Saints compared to any other NFL team is almost like looking at different sports. That's how good the Saints offense is and that was evident in Saturday night's NFC Wild Card game as they put up 45 points on the Detroit Lions and won the game, 45-28.

Detroit hung in for one half entering the third quarterback with a 14-10 lead but that didn't last long. The Saints scored four more touchdowns from the start of the second half to midway through the fourth quarter. Drew Brees' stats are almost comical -- 466 yards and three touchdowns. That's an NFL record as is the total yards from the Saints (breaking a 49-yard old record) and the combined total yards from both teams (tying an NFL record set in 1995).

The Saints offense is so, so good and I don't know who can stop them. The obvious answer is Green Bay but I think the Saints are playing so much better right now than the last time those two teams met in September. Brees is on another planet, Darren Sproles contributes in so many areas and even the second and third receivers are racking up 100 yard days for New Orleans.

The Saints now travel to San Francisco to play the 49ers and that should be a very good game.

Here are some highlights from Saturday night's game.

Saints look like a freakin juggernaut

And that’s with some of the uncharacteristic drops they had.

That’s a crazy potent offense.

Pierre Thomas looked damn near un-tackle-able last night.

the Packers defense doesn't stop the Saints offense ...
The Saints offense is so, so good and I don’t know who can stop them. The obvious answer is Green Bay but …

but they might stay with ’em point for point … these two teams would be like the ultimate shootout … given what Flynn did vs Lions, imagine Rodgers & Co vs Brees & Co

and you thought Madden 2012 was high scoring :-)

last play of the game

4th down, Brees takes a knee shouldn’t the clock have stopped?

only if he spiked the ball

taking a knee is like a QB run; once they’re down you continue the game

I know that but it was 4th down, shouldn’t the clock have stopped and the ball turned over on downs to the lions with 38 seconds left to play?
