As Joel noted earlier this morning, the NFL has two playoff games on tap for you today. The first game features the Atlanta Falcons against the New York Giants. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. ET from Giants Stadium. That will be followed up by Broncos-Steelers at 4:30 p.m. ET.
This is your open thread for the first game. Make sure you vote in our poll and let us know who you pick to win in this game and why.

Giants > Falcons (especially in NY)
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
yah, that was my pick ...
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Picking Falcons
Color me sentimental, but since Tony G. is on the Falcons, I’m going with them.
Giants are probably the better team though…
Chief_Elmo - January 8, 2012
Going the Falcons...
They read a stat during the beginning of the game, Tony G has NEVER won a playoff game in his career…. that sucks and I feel for Tony.
Rooting for the Falcons to make it all the way for Tony G. If anyone deserves it, it’s Tony.
KC Nate - January 8, 2012
I hope he never does win one.
skunk420 - January 8, 2012
Braves up on the Mets, 2-0.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
huge lead, I tellya
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Tying run is always on deck, though.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
And now the go ahead run is coming to the plate.
Mets could take a 3-2 lead.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Or the Mets could strike out here and leave 2 on base.
Nah. That one doesn’t work.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
They could bat around here.
And take a 7-2 lead.
And done.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Hey ups, I can be in this thread, right?
Loving the defense.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
I know, huh! totall opposite of last night's game
upamtn - January 8, 2012
There we go! Open Thread on the FP now!
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Thormans finally returned from the holidays? ;)
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
I think Chris was just trying to keep the riff raff out.
But you and ups found it anyway.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
He forgot to hide it from the RSS feed.
I don’t look at the front page much.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
This is a GooD Game so far.
Hopefully it doesn’t become Bungels & Texans again lol
Tipzz - January 8, 2012 via mobile
The Giants DL is perpetually scary.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
That sack was nasty! I haven't seen a collapse
Like that on the o line in a while.
Wrestler189s - January 8, 2012 via mobile
I like giants in this one.
I do feel for Tony but once he signed that deal with ATL next year I don’t anymore. Here’s to hoping Tony never wins a playoff game unless it’s with KC :)
Wrestler189s - January 8, 2012 via mobile
I wouldnt allow him back in KC.
He’s dead to me.
skunk420 - January 8, 2012
"Really good timeout called by Tom Coughlin"
We’re praising blatantly obvious decisions, now?
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
hater!
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Eli Manning has the worst body language
of any successful QB ever.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
WTF kind of clock management was that?
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
Yeah boi!
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
LOL!
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
Finally
Been trying to login for the past few months and didn’t wanna create a new email…long time reader , first time posting …good defensive game so far …I’m from nj so can’t stand the giants
Chiefs86 - January 8, 2012 via mobile
Welcome!!
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
My god, Atlanta didn't want points there.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Did I see happy feet on Matty Ice?
Soccer Over Football - January 8, 2012
what do u think of the rumor gary gibbs being the chiefs DC
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
I like it.
Defense should keep rolling right along.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
I approve.!

niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
And once part of the Bee Gees, I think.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Think a HC announcement will come tomorrow?
I predict Tuesday it becomes official.

mchoodie to NE
i bet u slept well when u heard that
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
I'm not a Patriots fan, so no.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i ment that mchoodie wasn't coming to kc instead NE
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
I think he'd have been a good fit in KC.
As an OC.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i heard brady quinn might get to play for the donkeys today
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
IOW, Fox would like to win.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Giants defense just gets good when they hit January.
And as I say that, JPP goes down hurt.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012 via Android app
long fly ball ... just foul
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Sorry Tony
Looks like you had just as good a chance of winning in KC as ya do in Atlanta
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
Probably wishes his dream of playing for the Giants had come true.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
I used to feel bad for em
Still kinda do, mixed in with a little laughter now. Got GB,Giants,SF, Brees and Cam in his division. Ouch!
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
I don't.
Never did. He wanted to leave the Chiefs, so I’m not sure why I should continue to root for him on another team that I don’t like.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Yeah I hear ya
I kinda understood at the time, with us starting from scratch, but he really did make a terrible decision. He will never sniff the SB in that conference.
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
It just feels like Eli is going to burn the Falcons at some point, doesn't it?
Matt Ryan doesn’t look like he’s got a whole lot right now.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Yes.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
and the Mets with a 3-Run Homer ...
pouring it on with a huge 8 run lead over the Braves :-)
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Braves pitching is usually better than this.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Ha!
John Fox: "We expect our starters to play well, and our backups to be ready"
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Brady Quinn to come in on 3rd downs
Over/Under on possessions till that happens. I got 2!
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
That's funny.
Considering they never throw the ball on first and second down.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
broncos throw the ball?
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Yeah, they even complete 48% of them.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
hot damn
is that higher than the chiefs?
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Ha, what's funny about that
NOPE!
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
Yep
That’s why I see the first possession run run run punt then get creamed next possession and in comes Quinn cuz the boos will be too much for poor old Timmy. I fuckin hope upon hope the Steelers just destroy this dude. Fuckin sick of the camera cuts to him praying. B-Dawkins and Warner we just as big in faith as him and they NEVER showed them doin that shit. And by the way I never watched college ball did he do all this shit at Florida too?
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
he wrote bible verses on his face at florida
he’d get fined in the NFL for that. not hardcore enough to do it.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
But I mean did he do the kneeling and praying on the field too?
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
probably
i stopped watching florida once the coverage of him became so over the top.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
translation: we expect to lose bigtime
upamtn - January 8, 2012
No.
Translation: I expect to Tebow to suck, so Quinn better be ready.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
If he wasn't a donkey, I might feel bad for him.
They’ve dicked him around a bit.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
cause elway hates him
he would be more suited with a running team
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
he'd be better suited
as a backup
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
FB?
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
sure
he’s holding denver back, so i hope he stays for decades.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
That's one way of looking at it.
Another way, is that he should have never even seen the field, based on ability alone. So I think he’s way ahead of where he should be.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
he was good in florida but they ran a different offense compared to fox's offense
but he should have never joined denver
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
That's true, too.
It would be so much better if the media wasn’t all over his nuts.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Yep.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
hmm..anybody else think that matt ryan is overrated much?
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Always have.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
As a "franchise" guy hell yes
I’m so sick of hearing the term “franchise QB”. It’s Peyton, Brady, Rodgers and Brees.
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
what exactly is a franchise QB
I never quite understood that
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Not Matt Cassel
Soccer Over Football - January 8, 2012
So Tyler Palko?
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i think the Giants feel good about Eli
as their franchise QB
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Yeah I could agree to that
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
he's in Tier Two of franchise guys
maybe Rivers is there with him
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
You misspelled $cam
HIV 2 Elway - January 8, 2012
Give em a few more years I really could see it
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
i'd say one more year and he is there
wouldn’t be shocked to see the panthers in the playoffs next season. bowe to carolina makes sense if he wants to leave.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Yep. always have.
Especially on the road.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
that atlanta coach should be fired
2nd q, 4th and 1, kick and now you’re losing
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Second time Ryan has turtled to avoid taking a hit.
What a panzy.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
he's soft
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Giants D line is FIERCE!!!
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
Good thing they paid Turner all that money
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
I bet Atlanta is wishing they had just signed Harvey Dahl to whatever money he wanted now.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Wow
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
How do they have a line of 4 guys in front of him and they still all miss him.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
the falcons aren't that good
they are in a crappy spot. good enough to get to the playoffs, not good enough to do anything once they get there. their D is just not dynamic at all.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
They just don't seem to improve.
This looks like the same team as last year in the playoffs and the year before. It doesn’t help that you trade 3/4 of your draft for a #2 WR but still.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
and....it's over
have fun at the SB tony G you traitor
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
dead birds out there now
upamtn - January 8, 2012
more like fish
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
btw this was in norway during new year fyi
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
we can pickle that
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Is that a red herring?
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
not sure, just reading some news
apparently thousands of birds, cows, fishes, etc died during new year
some claimed fireworks but I suspect otherwise
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Like those birds and fish in mississippi last year.
Weird.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
here's my argument
if fireworks causes dead fish/birds, why did it only occur last year and this year?
why wouldn’t it happen every year since the creation of firecrackers
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
What was really odd in Mississippi(and maybe because it was Mississippi)
Is they gave a lame reason and it was a “might be” and then that was the end of it. No more investigating or publicity. It was just over.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
science hates things that it can't explain
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
religion loves them
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
indeed
2 sides of the same coin
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
news
Depending on what news article you read… a lot of them left out details about the dead birds to give more hype to the ‘End Of The World’ coming. A bunch of rednecks shot fireworks into a blackbird nest, causing them to flee. They found about 100 dead in the nest. Blackbirds have very poor night vision. Almost 5000 died this New Years… they probably just flew into each other.
DuctTapeMessiah - January 8, 2012
p.s.
Fireworks have been banned in the area after this years incident.

GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
maybe....
but skip will probably tell you it’s tebow
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
I don't get it
I know the giants just scored …but on that 4th down why wasn’t there anyone on the backfield? Giants knew it was a qb sneak so it was easy to defend…now I won’t stop hearing giants fan say how great their team is…fact is atl coaching staff is sucking this game
Chiefs86 - January 8, 2012 via mobile
becuase the falcon coach is an idiot
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Giants are pretty damn good
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
Giants have a good Defense ...
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Giants have a good defensive line.
The rest is pretty average.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Nicks Cruz and Manningham average?
Eli average?
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
"Giants have a good Defense ... "
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Ah
Thought you meant that’s all they had lol
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
Noper
Eli has made me a believer this year. Their WRs are sick too. Imagine what this team could do with an oline.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Believe it or not theres been people around here that want their OC
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
i'll take him
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012

niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012

Almost 36
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012

Tarkus - January 8, 2012
And it's not like he's doing anything to help change that.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012

Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Gonzo gets another playoff loss.
bossmanham - January 8, 2012 via mobile

maybe 2 more years left for gonzo
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
Great throw
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
yeah it was, good call ... Falcons D is worn out and then some
upamtn - January 8, 2012
sounds like the chiefs
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Peyton should be SO proud of little brother
upamtn - January 8, 2012
I have two bills riding on the Falcons scoring no more then 10 points.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Fitzpatrick and who else?

Spiller
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
So...if peyton comes to KC
will it be 2013 Chiefs vs Giants?
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
He's staying a Colt
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
until the colts don't pay him the 28 mill
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
They're going to
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
I don't think so
maybe trade or release him
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
You really think they're just gonna cut the greatest QB of our time
And he’s already came out and said he’s not going anywhere. Don’t know why people keep thinking he’s outta just cuz he was out all season.
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
will see what happens when its time to pay the 28 mill
they paid 20 mill for this past season, owe 28 mill bonus due in march, plus another 7 mill on his contract, and the colts haven’t thrown any money at luck yet.
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
And
They got the money to do both. #1 pick doesn’t cost as high as it used to. The guys come out and said Peyton Manning is going nowhere, so I’m sure he knows how much he’s owed and will pay it. It’s Peyton fuckin Manning!
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
they got alot of free agents on that roster coming up this year
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
And you think they'd rather keep them than the man who built that franchise
Come on. He will be a Colt until he retires
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
which might be this offseason
who knows with that injury.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
They keep saying he should be good to go
They said if he played LB or something it would be tough but at QB he should be ok. But I agree, I’m just saying he’s gonna be a Colt or retired. Theres no way they let him go to another team.
KCinIL - January 8, 2012
I think he'll be a Colt as well
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
no i'm saying they got alot of money tied up on one guy
I think manning is great, but at some point u got to do whats right for the colts. I think the colts best move right now is to try to trade manning for picks. They are iin rebuild mode now.
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
luck won't be that expensive
about 5.5M
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Huh?
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
compared to #1 picks in the past
bradford got 13M a year
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Cam Newton's signing bonus was $14,518,000
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i thought they had phased out signing bonuses for rookies
so, 36.5M guaranteed for Newton vs 50M for Bradford. still a difference, but not as huge as I thought.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
That's why some think Manning will be released.
I could see it going either way, but Luck would be a very expensive backup to a very expensive starter.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
yeah, the signing bonus changes my thinking a little bit
still think they can afford it for a season, but not sure there is much of a point.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Other then the NO/DET for one 1/2 none of these playoff games have really been very close.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
tebow vs steelers will be a close game
some guy who can’t throw the ball vs some guy who can’t walk
My money is on the guy who can’t walk
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
You could probably blindfold the no walking guy and still beat a no throwing guy.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
You mean
one guy who walks on water vs. some guy who can’t walk on grass.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
LOL
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
I say brady quinn plays before the end of the first half
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
Not much of a limb there.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Another playoff game for Tony G. Another typical playoff performance 2 catches and 19 yards.
The man is the best at his craft during the regular season but just another body on the field in the playoffs.
NFL season ticket holder - January 8, 2012
Exactly
His best playoff game is something like 60 yards and a pushoff in the endzone costing his team any chance of winning.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Oh, but "nobody deserves a SB more than him."
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
My consolation prize of the Chiefs not making the playoffs is watching him lose in the playoffs.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
-88
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
yea during his post game comments maybe he will say "hopefully they clear house and I am part of it" like he did with us.
He doesn’t deserve jack swat!

Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Why the hell are they punting?
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
cause they actually think they can win....
denial ain’t just a river in Egypt
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
This is the same bullshit from Atlanta that cost me my FF win.
Punting down by 22 with 9 minutes left? I lost my FF championship by 2 points because Atlanta thought they should kick FGs with 10 minutes down by 20+ to New Orleans.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Atlanta might want to work on tackling at their first OTA.
And angles to the ball at their second.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
oh atlanta
different year, same story. maybe they should’ve waited to trade their drafts for a QB.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
how many pass completions for tebow today more than 10

niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012

Scrutinize the 4th downs all you want.
This offense just sucked today and they didn’t lose because they didn’t kick a couple FGs.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012

BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
I guess our new oc isn't coming from atlanta
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
Their OC might be availabe after this mess.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
do we want another incompetent OC?

No. Although that fourth down play looked like a play that Muir was drawing up but fell asleep before he could finish it.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012

ok guys all of you get in the middle and push forward. I mean not like the defense will be prepared for this

BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
the donkeys will play quinn

niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
I hope so
that way they’ll lose all their season ticket holder

Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
anybody find it strange...
that they’re called the “new york giants” but they play in New Jersey..
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
I thought they were called
the New York Football Giants.
At least that’s what idiots on TV always call them.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
That's a relic from a previous error when the New York Baseball Giants were the more famous team
joplin chiefs fan - January 8, 2012

joplin chiefs fan - January 8, 2012
I know.
But it’s annoying in 2012.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
meh
they’re about 3 miles from manhattan
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
That's because the land in NYC is too expensive to build a staduim on. They is why they build skyscrapers. The current location is old wasteland.
NFL season ticket holder - January 8, 2012
that is why---
NFL season ticket holder - January 8, 2012
I would go with quinn to start if i was the donkeys coach
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
You have to start Tebow and let him fail miserably so you can convince the fans that you need a new QB
Or they’ll crucify Elway and friends.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
Yep.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i dont think how tebow performs
really matters to his supporters. it’s very odd trying to talk to people who love him.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
can't blame them
they had orton who parties all the time
vs
tebow who does charities, heal the sick, and kill evil on a 24/7 basis
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
orton might want to cut down on the partying
dude looks rough.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
can't blame him
Hey baby I’m a QB, now get in my bed
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Worked for Croyle
once.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
i hope orton parties in kc this year
need to sign orton
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
not long term
one year i could live with.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Which is why as Chiefs fans you want this game to finish 23-20 Steelers
With Tebow going 20/30 for 200 yards and a TD and no turnovers.
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
I should, but I just can't.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
I am hoping for a 55-0 Steelers win.
NFL season ticket holder - January 8, 2012
+45
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
who's on your fantasy team
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
so does one series full fill your requirement for tebow
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
"Looking forward to a date with Ryan Grant and the Packers"?
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
screw rodgers
it’s all grant
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
Even Aikman was like "WTF?"
GenericBrand - January 8, 2012
That is NOT Unnecessary Roughness.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
the falcons making the playoffs is unnecessary treatment of the american public
i’m hoping the panthers pass them by next year
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Giants
Giants are overrated IMo but most of u seem to think they’re really good. Their o line is ok , d line is, db’s are below avg, qb is very good and wr’s r very good…they’re a good team but not as good as they appear today…I watch them play all the time as I’m from nj and if they didn’t win that super bowl coughlin would’ve been gone a long time ago.
Chiefs86 - January 8, 2012 via mobile
they're good against scrubs (atlanta)
let’s see them face packers/saints
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
they're a tough team
almost beat the packers once, they’ve got a shot next week. inconsistent team, but they get up for the playoffs.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
Defense is peaking. I don't think they can win 2 road games in a row to get to the Super Bowl but I think the Packers should be concerned.
NFL season ticket holder - January 8, 2012
punt with 10 minutes to go
but lets score down 22 with a minute to go guys!
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
You know how everyone was all up in arms one game when cassel had a really low ypa?
Don’t look now, but Ryan has a pretty low one now.
bossmanham - January 8, 2012 via mobile
they traded vick for ryan
nice going HC
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
kind of had to do that
vick isn’t elite either anyway
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
He's at 4 right now.
bossmanham - January 8, 2012 via mobile
I believe most were saying Ryan was incredibly overrated up above.
I saw no defenders.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
LOL @ Tony G
You could have not won playoff games in KC
ArrowheadHunter - January 8, 2012
i hope he goes into the HoF as a falcon
no reason to have a chiefs uniform on an embarrassment
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
An embarrassment?
I’m not cheering for him to pull off playoff victories, but the guy is the best TE to play the game. How the hell is that an embarrassment?
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
the fact that he left the chiefs to die and fend for ourselves?
yea let’s welcome him with open arms
hell even priest holmes, broken neck and all tried to win us games
tony G: yea ya suck so I’m going to atlanta. See ya bitches
Chiefshero - January 8, 2012
He left us to die?
You mean, he left when we were starting over YET ANOTHER rebuild? And left at at time when we could get something for him still?
The guy holds no ill will towards KC. I don’t see why we should be chastising him. It’s a business, too.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
i have no problem with the guy
he wanted to work for a new company, whatever. not like he dogged it when he was in KC.
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
True story
Dude always played hard.
I hope he comes back. Him and Moeaki would be legit and give us tons of options.
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
no gonzo goes in as a chief
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
NFL players don't go in as any team.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Osi took the tackle with him!
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
This game is an excellent example of D beating O
Despite the new idea that ALL that matters is offense…
This is why a team without an elite QB can win SB’s…
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
Surely you're not talking about Eli?
Eli Manning is damn near elite if he’s not already.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
What I mean is Rodgers/Brady/Brees elite
Which he’s not.
He’s very good though. My main point is defense can still win games, contrary to popular belief.
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
Well, I'd put Eli and Stafford directly behind those three.
Still meaning they’ve got one of the NFL’s best QB’s. Defense can still win games, yes, but if they go far, they’re going to need both.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Are they that good
Or surrounded by good tools?
Stafford’s got Megatron, Eli’s got a very good, deep receiving corps…
I dunno, I’m not sure I’d put either of them above Cutler or Schaub or Newton or Dalton or any other of a half dozen or so QBs…
But yeah, you can’t have a bad or average QB if you want to go far.
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
exactly those are not one man teams but very experienced deep teams
Willie Beamon - January 8, 2012
you mean you DON'T think the Broncos will win today?
I’m stunned …
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Newton and Dalton are still too young to make that comparison in my opinion.
Schaub has Johnson, so he falls into the Stafford and Eli part of your argument. Cutler is…hrm…difficult for me.
I still think Eli’s in the top six, as is Stafford…at least in my rankings.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
Eli that high?
top 10 yeah … but top 6?
upamtn - January 8, 2012
yeah its the top 3 and then everyone else depending on who you surround them with
continuity and supporting cast can easily push a QB up the rankings
Willie Beamon - January 8, 2012
Brees, Rodgers, Brady.
Top three, for sure. You want to throw a healthy Peyton in there, I’m fine with it. After that, there’s a pack of guys that are similar. I think Stafford and Eli lead that pack of guys.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
yah, Stafford's really getting into that elite territory fast
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Hopefully for Stafford he finally stays healthy
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
It's at least arguable, so I hear what you're saying
Although I’d take Cam over him any day. But that’s mostly based off potential…
MNchiefsfan - January 8, 2012
well, this puts me 3 for 3 so far ...
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Lemme guess...you took the Tebows.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
don't even DREAM it
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Careful.
We don’t want you to sprain your arm.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
hey, gotta reach that cookie, yanno ;)
upamtn - January 8, 2012
TMI.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
Careful now
All 3 divisional winners won their games. Only wild card left is the Steelers
NJChieffan16 - January 8, 2012
funny, that's the only one I took ... imagine that
a lot of people picked the Bengals … some took the Texans put also picked the Falcons in this game (with their high-flying offense, you know)
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Falcon soar
but they laid an egg this time.
Like my exceptional humor?
NJChieffan16 - January 8, 2012
Prediction:
PIT: 27
DEN: 17
powercat12 - January 8, 2012
So you expect Brady Quinn to play a lot?
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
haha
him or Charlie Batch
powercat12 - January 8, 2012
Bubby Brister now!
BeauJackson - January 8, 2012
espn just said irsay and manning will make a joint decision on manning future
for what ever that is worth
niageriannit1 - January 8, 2012
not a surprise there
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Yeah, I kind of expect that if he's retiring or leaving, they're going to make it as cordial as possible.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
wonder if Irsay would, at this point, PREFER him to go
upamtn - January 8, 2012
I don't know about "prefer".
But they have to get Luck. And that means Peyton doesn’t get the help he will need with his supporting cast.
KaloPhoenix - January 8, 2012
that and, if you believe what Archie said, Peyton doesn't want to have anything to do with Luck ...
words to that effect
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Until he backtracked the next day.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
spin control, eh ... missed that bit
upamtn - January 8, 2012
This.
They have too many holes to keep both. And it’s pointless to keep Manning around for 1 year, if Luck will even sit that long. Might as well move Manning.
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
Sounds like they're going to have a Pioli-Waters type release.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
I just got this sinking feeling that Cassel is going to be the starting QB next year
and Stanzi is still third string
powercat12 - January 8, 2012
the first part is enough for a sinking feeling
upamtn - January 8, 2012
That's just the prunes you ate for lunch.
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
which is YOUR fault for not sharing those cookies!
upamtn - January 8, 2012
Touche'
Tarkus - January 8, 2012
It's going to be really hard for me to watch if Cassel is our starting QB
EricBerryYoYouScary - January 8, 2012
me, too
Palko must be gone, and we need another QB on the roster. I don’t care who it is… Orton, draft pick, whatever, but Cassel with an as of yet untested Stanzi is not a good plan.
neiowakcfan - January 8, 2012
If Stanzi is still third string
it will be Stanzi’s own fault. RAC seems determined to give him his shot.
