We had a few rumors making the rounds on the
Kansas City Chiefs search for a new head coach, as well as some news on potential offensive and defensive coordinators.
If you were wrapped up in the playoffs, here's what you missed this weekend on the Chiefs coaching front:

Romeo Crennel as the new head coach? ESPN reported on Saturday afternoon that the Chiefs were planning on removing the interim tag from Crennel and making him the full-time coach. We haven't been able to confirm that with the Chiefs, who posted a statement on their website indicating that no announcement had been made yet. Crennel still seems likely to get the job.
Chiefs next defensive coordinator could already be on staff. If Crennel gets the full-time job as expected, he'll need to replace himself at defensive coordinator. 810 WHB's Nate Bukaty reported via a source that Crennel is likely to name Gary Gibbs, the current linebackers coach, the new defensive coordinator. Again, that's not official yet but it seems to make sense. Crennel will likely still have his hand in the defense but he needs someone to run the day-to-day operation and it sounds like that will be Gibbs.
Josh McDaniels returns to the Patriots. Coincidentally (or not), the
Patriots made this move official in a statement on their website within minutes of
Tim Tebow and the
Broncos beating the
Steelers. McDaniels was thought to be a candidate in KC -- Chiefs reportedly didn't request permission from the
Rams to speak with him, though -- but he'll be headed to New England to coach with the Patriots (and he starts immediately...like this weekend against Tebow).
but it's on the sidebar right now from NFP ... Chiefs remove Crennel's interim tag
ah well, it’s fun seeing the team retract what everyone knows after they posted it then took it down from their own site … yuppers, nothing like confidence in the current administration!

So you have no confidence in Josh and Brad?
Who run the Chiefs’ website?

That's cool
Crennel HC
Gibbs DC
Maybe Manusky as LB coach…
I’m more concerned about the offensive leadership. Our defense is fine with Crennel at the helm.

McDaniels against Tebow?
Did McDaniels start coaching Defense? Maybe it was because he’s good at keeping the offense from scoring.
