Chiefs Former Special Teams Coach Reportedly Heads To Oakland

We were just wondering whether the Kansas City Chiefs might hire an Oakland Raiders assistant coach and now there's word that the Raiders are hiring a former Chiefs assistant coach.

Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com reports the Raiders are hiring Steve Hoffman, the Chiefs former special teams coach.

Hoffman, who was originally hired by Todd Haley in 2009, was not retained by the Chiefs in a move announced this week. The Chiefs hired Tom McMahon from the St. Louis Rams to replace him.

So a former Chief in Oakland, huh? Since I grew up in KC I think I'll always have the feeling that someone is doing something wrong when they take a job with the Raiders. (And, let's be honest, they probably are.)

Well.........bye.
rec'd for Tombstone reference
What do they want with a kicking coach?
he takes over the easiest specialists to coach in football...lechler and janikowski.
Yep

That’s a sweet gig for a ST guy.

and though I liked Hoffman

he won’t help Oakland be better

Soooo a Wash

his special teams coaching sure helped Oakland a little over a month ago.
Yep
I'm glad he got fired.

He should of been “tarred and feathered” after the Raiders game. It’s only fitting that he lands with our enemy.

(In that Napoleon Dynamite delivery) Idddiots!!

Look, Rhodes Scholar, the guy is the NFL’s best kicking and punting coach and Haley gave him the cast from F-Troop to build his coverage and return teams. The first Oakland block Ryan’s kick was so low Wes Welker could have blocked it. That was Succop’s bad. So there was no reason to “adjust.” The second kick the left side of the offensive line collapsed. So it’s Hoffman’s fault Corporal Agarn and Chief Wild Eagle can’t block? Look, he’s a Raider now … which means against the Chiefs he’s sure to have epic games. Don’t send too much hate his way. It’s coming back twice next season.

He was already working for the raiders

2 blocked fgs ptfffft good riddens

Two blocked field goals

This means we will be able to block their field goals.maybe they can sign Haley somewhere also.

here is my take, as someone very st oriented....

this is some of the best news ive heard since either the saunders interest, or the hoffman firing.

hoffman couldnt do a darn thing despite having a very capable duo at returner, three with breaston making a trio but they never used him even on a trick play or something….

specialists are top notch, colquitt was a gansz jr draft pick, succop is inked long term…doesnt take much to have them working well.

i saw last season as a massive failure. arenas had great numbers despite any really big returns.

Hoffman was great for Succop

Kickers need coaching just as much as any other position.

It’s Hoffman’s coverage and blocking units that were the problem.

Maybe we can get one of their coaches back

Bob Wylie was let go today and did a pretty good job with their oline last year. Actually a very good job considering what he had to work with.

if Saunders comes

bet he does too.

Look at these hacks!

They’re trying to get inside info on everyone in the division!

Awful lot of gnus today.
Hoffman left our ST unit in better condition than he found it.

Mike Pfeifer anyone?

Barry Richardson will now have to go to the other sideline to shove him.
With any luck Barry will be on their sideline as their starting RT
Why stop with Richardson?

Ryan Lilja
Reshard Langford
Brodie Croyle (ok for giggles at least).

GOOD

Blew me away how we werent able to adjust during raiders game..2 blocked field goals from the same guy? I wod have shitcanned him ASAP.

Going to the raiders is like going to hell so i couldnt ask for better place for him…

Raiders are so childish
