Good morning. Here's your Kansas City Chiefs news.
Nearly 8,000 homes were destroyed in the single deadliest tornado to hit the United States since 1950 and thousands of Joplin residents remain homeless nearly a year later.
Players, coaches, alumni, broadcasters and front office staff members from each organization will serve alongside fans and volunteers to help build 35 new homes divided into seven different neighborhoods. The construction of the seven neighborhoods will be spearheaded by an individual team and their fans.

I think it is a smart move for the Chiefs to at least see what Routt is looking for and to give themselves options in case they think Carr will leave. Because there is so much interest in Routt, this process could take some time.
Chiefs' Interest In Routt Makes Sense from ESPN
The person, who requested anonymity, said Bicknell met with Kansas City earlier this week.
It's unclear where the Chiefs, who must replace the recently retired Bill Muir, are in the interview process and where Bicknell stands among the list of candidates.

Unless Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III defy the trend of top-rated quarterbacks choosing not to throw at the Scouting Combine, talent evaluators are going to have a tough time seeing both throw prior to the 2012 draft.
That's because Stanford and Baylor have each scheduled their on-campus "Pro Day" workouts on March 22, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The conflicting schedule could force teams to split up their decision-makers to take in the workouts.

Kansas City center Casey Wiegmann
Comment: Wiegmann, 38, has considered retirement the past few seasons and he has always come back for one more season. It could happen again. The word is, though, Wiegmann may take his time on his decision.

Dwayne Bowe was Kansas City's No. 1 receiver when Phil Emery was with Kansas City Chiefs personnel. Bowe has shown some toughness questions, which won't play well in the meeting rooms of coach Darryl Drake and offense of Mike Tice, and his 4 catches for 49 yards didn't include the Hail Mary this season.

Retire Casey
Arrowhead25 - February 11, 2012
If not, he needs retired.

When can teams start using their tags?
http://www.cbssports.com/story/17188691/top-50-free-agents-former-top-pick-williams-is-top-player-on-open-market?ttag=gen10_on_all_fb_na_txt_0001
lot of guys in this list get tagged, ie ray rice. Carr #2, Bowe #9. Clark is too cheap to sign both, expect to be disappointed.
Arrowhead25 - February 11, 2012
I don't know why you'd say that
2 years ago, Johnson and Charles were resigned in the same offseason. Then, last offseason, Hali and Flowers were both resigned. If this offseason is like previous ones, we should expect nothing less than both Bowe and Carr being resigned.
Dagda - February 11, 2012
I don't either
In the last two years, that “cheap” guy spent $195 million in contract EXTENTIONS to current players.
I’m sick of the “cheap” talk shit, because that’s all it is. They’ll both get paid, unless Carr is asking for something that is flat out crazy. If he wants more than Flowers, he’s not getting it.
Zayla - February 11, 2012
I think it is more likely Bowe asks for a crazy number.
saskwatch - February 11, 2012
Ten years of salary
JComp11 - February 11, 2012 via Android app
Ten years of salary figures disagree with you.
JComp11 - February 11, 2012 via Android app
Clark has been running things for 10 years?
TRSChief - February 11, 2012
Don't tell Lamar. It will upset him to know he was dead so long ago
Zayla - February 11, 2012
Blew my mind!
TRSChief - February 11, 2012
$'s Spent on Depth would also disagree with them
i just dont think its going to happen. JC didn’t sign for a ton. I’m being pessimestic, but i just dont see it happening, hope i’m wrong.
Arrowhead25 - February 11, 2012
He's worth every bit as much as Flowers
I’d offer him the same deal. Keep the tandem together for the next 4-5 years through their primes making the same amount. That way neither can be jealous of the other.
MattHoover - February 11, 2012
I feel like John "Moon" Mullen is seriously underestimating Dwayne Bowe here.
Yes, he had 4 catches for 49 yards at the Bears, but he also had 5 for 101 at Detroit, 5 for 107 and a TD against Minnesota, 7 for 128 and 2 TDs at Indianapolis, and 6 for 93 at Denver (and he probably would have had a lot more in that game if hadn’t gotten hurt early). Overall he averaged 7 catches for 72.44 yards a game this season; that’s one decent drive by himself. Also, the hail mary was to Dexter McCluster, so Bowe shouldn’t be discredited because of plays he didn’t have anything to do with.
P.S. No, I don’t want the Chiefs to let Bowe go. Jamaal Charles aside, he’s their most dangerous offensive weapon. I’m just saying if they do, he’s more valuable than Mullen is giving him credit.
The Green Tomahawk - February 11, 2012
Totally agree
Here’s a guy that got 1,000 yards AGAIN, with three different QB’s, and that included four games of Palko throwing to him. Also, you’re right about the Denver game. He was abusing Woodson.
Zayla - February 11, 2012
Exactly
I think teams interested in Bowe are smart enough to take into consideration who has been throwing him the ball.
Even in his best years, he’s had an average QB.
Scott B. - February 11, 2012
I'm a Cassel fan
But do you think he would have come in handy for Brady in the SB? Look for the Patriots to go after young, talented wide outs this off-season.
Zayla - February 11, 2012
I can see the Pats going for Bowe.
They need a true wide receiver on that team, and the Chiefs are part of the Belicheck network now with Pioli. I dont want to trade him but if we cant sign him then a sign and trade/franchise and trade would be acceptable. I want at least a 1st for him though, maybe a 1st and a 3rd.
nateforchiefs - February 11, 2012
The thing about Bowe to the Patriots is, he's a fit in so far as they need another reciever, but he doesn't really fix what's wrong with their receiving corps.
They have tough, possesion, run after the catch type guys already. What they’re lacking (in addition to somebody who isn’t a slot receiver or a TE who can be a true #1) is a speedy deep threat. They haven’t really had that since Randy Moss a few years ago.
99% of the time that’s fine. But then every once in a while you’re down 4 in the Super Bowl with less than a minute to go and you have trouble working the ball down the field because you don’t really have a vertical passing game.
Now Bowe’s probably fast enough, to help out in that respect. And certainly he can out jump and out muscle cornerbacks no matter how deep he is. But he’s not regularly going to be burning guys deep.
MtHammer - February 11, 2012
Err...
He’s not going to be burning guys deep on a regular basis, rather.
MtHammer - February 11, 2012
I dont know if they need a speed receiver though.
They were winning the SB without a speed threat before, they were a completely different offense then but they were still there. When your receivers are: W. Welker, J. Edelman, D. Branch, and C. Ochocinco I think you need anyone with some size who can get open (looking at you Ocho)/
nateforchiefs - February 11, 2012
Desean Jackso nwould be what they need. Whether or not that happens.. But hey, who would have thought they would hav signed Randy Moss?
Topchief1 - February 11, 2012
They will need to give up a high pick to get Desean and I dont see that happening
And the Iggles wont let him walk either.
nateforchiefs - February 11, 2012
I honestly wouldn’t be shocked to see Philly let him loose. There’s a lot of bad blood there. But if you are implying a franchise tag and trade, that wouldn’t happen. Matt Cassel was the exception to the rule. Franchising a guy ties up that cap #, and a lot of teams can’t afford that.
Topchief1 - February 11, 2012
If a long term deal could be reached with another team
then I could see the franchise and trade happening. We wont let a young pro-bowl player just walk, and there will be some team willing to deal. There are to many WR needy team out there right now. San Fran, Rams, Seahawks, Pats, Jags, Bucs, Browns, Bears, Vikes, Panthers, Redskins etc.
nateforchiefs - February 11, 2012
If Bowe had been on the team
Chances are they never would have been down by four at any point. They have ZERO wide receivers on that team.
All things considered, what they did this year was amazing. They have no running back, no wide receivers, no defense, abosolutleye nobody in the secondary and they went 15-3 and lost the SB by four.
I give them all the credit in the world and that’s why they’re already the Vegas favorite for next year.
AFC- Texans, Pats, Chiefs….
Zayla - February 11, 2012
McCourty and Chung are good
McCourty made a pro bowl in fact.
nateforchiefs - February 11, 2012
Zero wide receivers?
Wes Welker led the NFL in receptions and was second only to Megatron in receiving yards.
And Arrington was tied for the lead in the NFL in INT’s.
They have holes, but to say they have nobody is all kinds of hyperbole.
TRSChief - February 11, 2012
Wes Welker is not an NFL Wide Out
Their two “deep threats” were Branch and Ocho Nobody. Those are not wide receivers.
OK, take Brady off the Pats and what do you have?
The Colts.
If they re-stock this off-season they will be very, very dangerous next year, like most years.
My point was, looking at them from top to bottom, it was amazing what they accomplished with what they have.
That’s why they’ve been to Five SB’s in Brady’s Ten years under center.
Zayla - February 11, 2012
You don't have to be a deep threat to be a wide receiver.
You’re right about them maximizing personnel on hand. It’s impressive.
But you’re just kind of making up things about receivers, and selling short some of their players.
TRSChief - February 11, 2012
You lost all credibility w/ me @ "I'm a Cassel Fan"...( J/K : ) )
KCChef - February 11, 2012
he was abusing champ bailey not woodson
chiefsfan - February 11, 2012 via mobile
sorry, you're correct
Zayla - February 11, 2012
SURLEY NOT
I sure hope they dont let Bowe go,that would be a very dumb ass move.that man is a beast,he just needs somebody that can throw to him to where he can catch the ball.plus he needs somebody like him on the otherside to make it harder on teams to cover.
chiefsfool - February 11, 2012
Really Moon?
I can’t remember the last game Bowe missed. The guy flat out abuses secondaries with punishing YACs. Thanks for diverting interest though.
Idahochief - February 11, 2012
That was the first thing I thought of. Which is why it pisses me off that people are paying so much attention to Carr. You have no idea if he can move into the #1 CB slot and still perform at a high level, one that he only obtained this year. But to put him at a #2 overall slot for Free Agents concerns me
Topchief1 - February 11, 2012
And he has in recent years cleaned up all the off field foolishness. And to me at least his number of dropped balls has been decreasing. I’m a fan, I hope he stays.
Craiggotgame - February 11, 2012
Moon?
Does he think these guys get in a room and look at film of guys games ONLY against the Bears?
What a tool.
Zayla - February 11, 2012
Vegas has a betting line on where Manning Goes
Chiefs are the lowest of the teams with a line at 1.5% chance.

Steve_Chiefs - February 11, 2012
Vegas is dumb too.
They had the Pats winning both Super Bowls against the Giants.
bossmanham - February 11, 2012 via mobile
You apparently don't understand how betting lines work
HIV 2 Elway - February 11, 2012
Not to mention, EVERYBODY had the Patriots winning the fist Super Bowl against the Giants.
I was, just the like most of the rest of the planet, rooting hard against New England but I thought that New York had almost literally no chance. And I didn’t know anyone else who thought they could win, either.
MtHammer - February 11, 2012
Not really, no.
But the Pats were ahead in both, oh you of missing the point.
bossmanham - February 11, 2012 via mobile
Vegas doesn't pick winners
It sets lines to try to get equal action on both sides. If anything betters ate idiots, not the bookmaker
HIV 2 Elway - February 11, 2012 via mobile
Yup. Make it as enticing as possible to bet either way.
More money coming in is always better.
TRSChief - February 11, 2012
Whoever is the cause of the odds being stacked one way or the other is exactly who I was talking about.
I am willing to guess that the reason kc isn’t thought about is because very few people in the states care about the Chiefs.
bossmanham - February 11, 2012 via mobile
Sure I do, that's how it was reported in that particular article
You want to put it into betting lines based on percentages? Not very hard to do, it’s called, math.
The point, however, would be that the teams they consider “possible”, the Chiefs had the lowest percentage.
Okey dokey?
Zayla - February 11, 2012
Until it's proven otherwise, I'm going to have major concerns with his neck and his arm strength.
Will his body hold up after several games’ worth of shots from defenders? And will he have the arm strength and accuracy he’s always had (or close to it)?
If he comes back as a taller, more expensive Chad Pennington….let someone else spend the money. A healthy Peyton would be worth every penny times ten, but if not, he’s JAG and the money would be better spent on Bowe, Carr, and the o-line.
Just my two cents’.
go_saleaumua - February 11, 2012
Agree with you on that G-S, plus
Even when healthy, it’s been seen that a decent defense could rattle Manning out of his comfort zone (Chiefs did it even with so-so D’s at times). Soooo, how tentative will he be if he does play again, thinking about protecting his neck. Only a truly crazy person wouldn’t be affected by those kinds of thoughts when 300 lb men are bearing down on you….
WorL4Chiefs - February 11, 2012
1.5% is way too low
i’d say its third likelist after cards and miami. peyton will not play for rex ryan. i don’t see dan synder or shanarat in the mix either.
Arrowhead25 - February 11, 2012
If Bowe had passes come to him most of the time when he was open, and if the passes
were in stride (not on the ground or behind him) he’d have 2000 years including all of his yards after catch.
jcox31mc - February 11, 2012
yards=not years
jcox31mc - February 11, 2012
Are you saying that Matt Cassel is functionally inaccurate as a passer, and streaky to inept at reading coverages?
/cue up the Cassel defenders and hate accusations
The guy is a good athlete and holds the position up “ok.” But his play, or lack thereof, has cost Bowe, Breaston…hell, everyone on offense some money over the last three years.
Sounds to me like a backup passer and not much more.
go_saleaumua - February 11, 2012
amen
been saying he’s not good since we signed him. like i said, he sat behind Palmer and Leinert at USC, and they both suck imo. so what does that say for him. obviously he sux.
nfamous209 - February 11, 2012
They didn't suck in college.
They both won Heisman Trophies.
Tarkus - February 11, 2012

PVChiefsfan - February 11, 2012
Tends to make me wonder...with the "competition at QB" statement whether Bowe had anything to
say about playing with a real QB since he had a small taste of it in the last 3 games….
“Get a decent QB or I’m outta here…”?
Nah, crazy talk .. :-)
WorL4Chiefs - February 11, 2012
Something tells me Bowe doesn't carry that kind of clout
Zayla - February 11, 2012
No doubt...but I'd rather stay in my delusional world a bit longer with my ever-so-slim
thread of hope that we might actually get a real QB.
