Hey guys. my first post ever so sorry if its not formatted correctly or whatever, although I do think I got it right with the whole fanpost/fanshot controversy lol......anywaays. Im really curious about this trade scenario that popped into my head. Im really just looking for opinions and to find out if its even a realistic option. OK here we go.
So this scenario involves a double trade back. The Bengals and Patriots both have two 1st round picks. Is it a realistic option to trade back with the bengals, picking up either both thier 1sts or a 1st and 2nd, or 1st, 3rd, 4th, etc... then trade back again with the Pats. Im curious to know what picks we could land or stockpile in the 1-3 rounds with this double trade back scenario.
idk..
but if we could manage to pick at 27 or 30 in the first, with 2-3 2nd rounders or 3rd rounders.. or both :) depending on who we pick i would like this. i know its almost a dream scenario, but a man can dream can he?

cant**
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
You can make any trades you want of draft picks
But getting the patriots to trade up is just silly. They just don’t do it
KCNorm - February 13, 2012
Didn't they trade up for Mayo a few years ago?
chiefs_fan_forever - February 13, 2012
They actually traded down a couple picks for Mayo
I think they had the Raiders pick.
jmcgoblue - February 13, 2012
The trade up lots, but usually not in the first half of the first round.
saskwatch - February 13, 2012
but in this case.
chiefs would trade back to the pats spot from the bengals spot, which is 17 or 21? whichever we get. so we would be in 2nd half of the first round, got that patriot connection too.. haha gotta count for something.
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
lol i worded that wrong whoops.
i know that u can make any trades for any draft picks u want. i shudnt have said “is it possible”
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
i was mainly looking for
if it was even a realistic option. i know the pats like to keep their own picks or trade back picking up more, but you never know. there might be someone they would be willing to trade up for.
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
I looked at the possibility of trading back with the Bengals and getting their 2 1st's
If you use the trade chart (Which may or may not be relevant nowadays), we’d also have to kick in a 2nd or so to make up the difference, it wouldn’t be as easy as our 1st for both of their 1st’s.
severn58 - February 13, 2012
i see
well that helps, thanks. yeah i didnt know all the trade chart stuff and honestly didnt think we cud manage to get BOTH their first. but i think its possible to attain a 1st and 3rd. or maaaybe 2nd?
aaaaah i wish i knew exactly what the chiefs could get with this scenario!!!!
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
as in, if we managed to pull of a trade with the bengals and pats, how many picks would/could we get and which rounds?
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
Check it, this may help sort out some scenarios

severn58 - February 13, 2012
ahh nice, thank you sir.
it does seem unlikely to get both 1st’s but if, lets say Trent Richardson falls to us at 11/12. we could trade our 1st and 3rd for both thier 1st’s. lol thats only if they think that highly of TRich tho.. and if he fell to us at 11/12 too..
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
Or we trade back to #17
and they give us their 2nd.
jmcgoblue - February 13, 2012
yeah
thats probably more realistic. so we get an extra 2nd. another trade back with the pats could net us yet another 2nd or 3rd. so our draft order should be looking something like:
1, 2a 2b 2c, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7a 7b OR 1, 2a 2b, 3a 3b, 4, 5, 6, 7a 7b
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
trade down is almost always good
stagdsp - February 13, 2012 via mobile
yeah i agree
imagine if we did it twice. end up with a 1st, 2 2nd’s, and 2 3rd’s. and with a good selection of OL in this draft, we could easily get our sorely needed Olinemen AND some.. (Hightower, Allen Fleener or Orson Charles, CB and safety depth). we cud do alot of things with this scenario. OF COURSE tho, alot depends on how we handle FA.
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
I will say this...
If trent richardson somehow slips to us, we should not trade down. Richardson/Charles would be an unstoppable one two punch.
andrew33 - February 13, 2012
honestly
i wouldnt be upset with that at all either. i like both scenarios haha. i would just hope that they allready improved the Oline via free agency if they go the route of trent richardson. i agree that duo would be unstoppable
ChiefRambo - February 13, 2012
I like Richardson a lot too
But I’d rather secure multiple 2nd & 3rd round picks to take Lamar Miller. That kid looks like the next Jamaal Charles.
jmcgoblue - February 13, 2012
Yeah Miller looks pretty good
But I dont think he is physically as fast as Charles or mentally fast at busting through holes. But he looks like a very good rb. I would be glad to see the Chiefs draft him.
andrew33 - February 13, 2012
Dude runs a sub 4.3 fourty, that's pretty damn fast.
Nobody will really know if he’ll translate to the NFL, but he certainly looks the part in college.
jmcgoblue - February 13, 2012
I’ve long been a strong advocate of trading down to accumulate every single 6th round pick every year, and using them all to select quarterback, just to be sure.
Topchief1 - February 13, 2012
Rec'd for sparking a good discussion via fanshot
And for the record, i’m always in favor of trade downs – esp if we can’t land RG3 in a trade up somehow.
TRSChief - February 13, 2012
I agree
and thanks, ha first post, first rec. I’m on a roll!
