Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Kyle McCarthy Signed

The Kansas City Chiefs and other teams around the league don't announce roster additions until the player has physically put pen-to-paper and signed his contract. That's why you see someone like Kyle McCarthy tweet last week that he's joining the Chiefs and the team doesn't make it official until Tuesday night.

The Chiefs confirmed that McCarthy, the former Denver Broncos safety, has signed with the team. He spent the last two seasons in Denver before the Broncos cut him the week of their Wild Card playoff game (which is a little cold-blooded, but not as bad as Tiquan Underwood getting released the night before the Super Bowl).

Per a league source, it's a one-year deal.

McCarthy has been a special teamer for most of his career so that's likely what he'll do in KC. Romeo Crennel hired two new special teams coaches this offseason so they'll get a look at McCarthy and others in offseason workouts.

McCarthy is a former Golden Domer, coming out of Notre Dame, where he saw action in 50 games. He entered the NFL undrafted.

Jon McGraw 2.0 ??
Much younger at least
Wouldn't be the worst case

McGraw has all the football accumen and IQ just getting old and losing the physical abilities to get it done.

I'm not bashing McGraw

he is a well rounded player and knows the game. He’s just not as quick as the new guys :)

The Patriots released a WR day before Super Bowl, wow can't stand

Patriots
They said that if they won he would get a ring.

They did that because if they moved up the DL they did early in the week then NYG could actually claim the WR on waivers.
Smart move and not as evil as it is once you have the whole story.

Per a league source

The biggest news in this “story” is that you’ve got “sources” now.

while not a huge deal it is a good sign

Pioli is looking to improve every facet of the team and this guy is supposed to be a good special teams player. While it isn’t a huge need, why not try and improve?
