I would rather have Carr. He knows the defense, he’s home grown, he gets along and plays well with the rest of the backfield. His upside is also better than Routts
I wonder if the initial demands from Carr’s camp are so high that they figure if they can sign Routt and Franchise Bowe it will be easier to do than signing Carr. I could see Carr demanding big money, then again he deserves it, he’s played freaking awesome.
for a team that needs a good corner. He is being a tad inflated because of the importance of corners. Not sure if deserves it even though he play great this year.
im guessing they are not goin to keep brandon carr dnt get me wrong i would love for him to stay but stanford routt is a little better then carr but we have to go on lets go after routt
with the disagree………the problem Carr had his first couple of seasons was looking for the ball. He would be in good position and not get his head around therefore allowing a completion or drawing a PI call, however last season he cleared that up and played excellent in coverage. I think he can possibly be a good #1 corner simply cause some teams threw away from flowers this year essentially putting Carr right in the middle of the cross hairs and he stepped up big time. Now onto Routt…..when Nnamdi was in Oakland he didnt play to bad as a #2 corner but as soon as he left he looked almost lost. Makes you wonder if Nnamdi directed things out there and when he left and the pressure was put on Routt he was lost. To me it would make more sense to resign the guy who has been with the team his whole career and developed under our defense and excelled in it than a guy who was a #2 in oakland that was forced into a #1 and completely flopped. IF Routt can be a good #2 than maybe he can be an upgrade over Arenas in the slot and keep Carr as the #2
It may not be up to the chiefs . Carr MAY be looking for a change of scenery . Never know . It’s all a business and like the chiefs said , it’s a marriage and BOTH sides have to want to . Kinda sounds like Carr may not want to in a way ..
If we can tag Carr at least if he leaves we can get picks . I feel like Bowe will easier to sign. If we can get him locked up , tag car worst case we lose Carr but get a pick
Sign Bowe and tag carr as Exclusive right free agent.
In another fan post it puts this option into play. According to it. If we tag Carr with Exclusive Rights Free agent and a team makes Carr an offer. The Chiefs have the option to Match the offer or let Carr go. If this happens Chiefs recieve 2 first round picks. Assuming we sign Routt. If a team makes an offer of even 10 dollars. I say the Chiefs do not match it. Yes Carr is better than Routt but not to 1st round picks better. We use the two picks to obtain Decastro and Martin in the first round. Then use the 2nd first round pick along with ours next year to obtain Barkley. Option two with picks go after RGIII this year because we will have three first round picks available to deal with. We would lose a little on defense and gain the world on offense. Routt is not that big of a drop off.
GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Carr could dominate some nickel. But I’m not really saying its for the best or that we should. It’s just that with the money we have we COULD sign both.
They aren't playing
At first I thought they were messing around, but two days, is that normal for just checking out? Doesn’t look good for Carr.
Chiefs3188 - February 15, 2012
Agreed, I'm surprised by this.
3GChief - February 15, 2012
Makes me think they are going to tag Bowe and let Carr walk
sign Routt cheaper than Carr.
Chiefs3188 - February 15, 2012
not my ideal situation
i want carr back but if routt is cheaper and close to carr in talent plus this keeps bowe in town i wont be too mad
dgoddard - February 15, 2012
Thats what I'm worried about
I would rather have Carr.
Fozzyboyd - February 15, 2012
Carr will get #1 money
for a team that needs a good corner. He is being a tad inflated because of the importance of corners. Not sure if deserves it even though he play great this year.
Chiefs3188 - February 15, 2012
He played great this year, arguably better than Flowers
and has been solid since he’s been here.
Never know if he can handle a #1 spot until he gets put there.
Fozzyboyd - February 15, 2012
This makes sense
Carr’s people probably put something on the table that’s a little absurd, unless they didn’t.
severn58 - February 15, 2012
If they're just kicking the tires, I'd think he'd be out of town by now
This definitely seems a little more in depth, which means I think they’re more serious than I would’ve thought they were.
severn58 - February 15, 2012
Wow, this is....unexpected.
severn58 - February 15, 2012
i wouldn’t be happy…maybe it’s all for negotiations with carr…i think routt loved it in buffalo, fwiw
kc571 - February 15, 2012
no one loves it
in Buffalo
dgoddard - February 15, 2012
I hear they have good wings up there.
Fozzyboyd - February 15, 2012
not better
than kc bbq

kc571 - February 15, 2012
Routt would be a fool not to say he likes it everywhere he goes
He is trying to drive up demand. It’s what FA’s do.
kcsno56 - February 15, 2012
oakland fans said he take a lot of penalties..i know, their whole team does….i just want carr back, he’s ours
kc571 - February 15, 2012
Same, We drafted and developed Carr
I want him back.
Then again, he has to want to come back and I have a feeling he is demanding a lot of money.
Fozzyboyd - February 15, 2012
Applebees is THE place to be in Buffalo

Only problem is
It may not be up to the chiefs . Carr MAY be looking for a change of scenery . Never know . It’s all a business and like the chiefs said , it’s a marriage and BOTH sides have to want to . Kinda sounds like Carr may not want to in a way ..
chiefsman! - February 15, 2012 via mobile
I'd be surprised if Carr really wants to leave, unless he's just set on going home to Detroit
But he may just be looking for the top dollar, no matter where that may be.
jmcgoblue - February 15, 2012
Meh
Worst comes to worst , sign routt . Tag Carr and get like a 2nd for him. Sign Bowe. Maybe save a little cash with routt to sign manning.
chiefsman! - February 15, 2012 via mobile
At this point I think only one of them gets the tag
and from the look of things Carr is going to walk and Bowe tagged. I don’t think contracts will be done until free-agency.
Chiefs3188 - February 15, 2012
*One gets tagged other walks it what I meant to say
Chiefs3188 - February 15, 2012
Well what i meant is
If we can tag Carr at least if he leaves we can get picks . I feel like Bowe will easier to sign. If we can get him locked up , tag car worst case we lose Carr but get a pick

Routerunner - February 15, 2012
nobody is going to give up two first round picks for Carr...it won't happen
Revis maybe, but not Carr.
jmcgoblue - February 15, 2012
With the money we have
Whose to say we don’t sign both?
ChiefRoyal - February 15, 2012 via mobile
because it would be a ridiculous amount of money to sign Routt as a BACKUP
upamtn - February 15, 2012
Javy is out there all the time
Carr could dominate some nickel. But I’m not really saying its for the best or that we should. It’s just that with the money we have we COULD sign both.
ChiefRoyal - February 15, 2012 via mobile
He wouldn't be a backup
When teams are running out 3-4 WRs almost every play
KCinIL - February 15, 2012
Agreed!
Atomic Punx - February 15, 2012
I've never heard his name mentioned throughout the course of the season
I don’t even remember hearing his name called during the game at Arrowhead. I’m curious to know why he’s getting so much love.
mistamic - February 15, 2012
Usually corners that don't get mentioned, are the good ones.
Problem is, Routt got mentioned a lot either for flags or getting burnt. Mainly because he was used in zone coverage.
He’s a man corner only, so maybe we’re moving to more of a bump and run scheme? I’d say we have the personnel for it.
ChiefWarPaint - February 15, 2012
Didn't Thomas Jones stay for 2 days?
and then signed
