How is it that a player can repeatedly state that he just doesn't know how to work the 3-4...
and yet, 3-4 teams keep lining up for him? He’s one of the best 4-3 DTs in the league, but he doesn’t handle the double-teams that he gets in a 3-4. Plain and simple.
Pretty sure NE was using him in rotation as a 4-3 DT
and he couldn’t cut it there, even with their rotation that is meant to always keep players fresh. Really it was the best possible situation for a guy like Haynesworth that only plays when he feels like it and will take plays off when tired. He could have stayed fresh and gone in and gave it his all.
I have a feeling that he just couldn’t “get it” up there and wasn’t interested in trying too hard.
Maybe someone (Schwartz or Fisher) will snag him on the cheap and give him a whirl. I’d rather sign a trashbag full of hair.
I think he can still play and be a valuable (though probably not dominant) piece for some team.
But it clearly needs to be a 4-3 team and clearly needs to be on a non-guaranteed, incentive laden contract.
That being said, even then I wouldn’t want him. Dude’s a thug with attitude and work ethic issues. He’s just not worth the potential headaches.

Teams should have learned by now, I can’t see him attracting many teams

I can't even believe how this dude and his career turned out.
What a d-bag. Clearly the type of person who doesn’t believe he should have to work to make a living. It’s disgusting.
An earlier commenter described him as a “thug with attitude”. I think he comes across more like an overgrown baby with no grip on reality.

thought his shite didn't stink
now he’s in the unemployed ranks with me. The jerk had it made though, all he had to do was be a good teammate in DC

doesn't fit the 3-4 DE so they say, If he would take a low risk high reward contract maybe.
If anybody could get this guy to play and behave, I think romeo crennal could do it. I would take a look just because romeo the coach in KC.
