After reading MtHammers post on AP's predictions for the 2011 season (great post, IO recommend it if you haven't read it yet) I thought I'd make some 2012 season predictions of my own. These are going to be some pretty bold predictions, but I will stand behind them for the next full year! Going into this, I am assuming that Dwayne Bowe and Brandon Carr remain on the roster, and Kyle Orton will be the Quarterback. It's fairly unlikely that that may not even happen, but let's just go along with it! Here we go!

1) Dwayne Bowe will break his career TD Record with over 15 TD's-
Bowe is the Chiefs best receiver and will be going into 2012, and he is due to have another huge year. With good Quarterback play, he earned himself a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii with 15 touchdowns and a boatload of yards. So, with good QB play from Kyle Orton, Bowe will have another huge year, and break his career touchdown record, of 15, and show why he deserves the money he will be payed.
2) Eric Berry will get an invite to the 2012 Pro Bowl-
Eric Berry, the Chiefs starting Strong Safety had a great rookie year, but went down with a season ending injury on week 1 of the 2011 season. I'm predicting that Berry will bounce back very strong with his true, breakout season, and earn himself a trip to the Pro Bowl. And if I may add, this will just be the beginning of a terrific, memorable career for Eric Berry.
3) Jamaal Charles Will be the AFC Rushing leader in yards-
Like Berry, Charles went down also with an ACL injury on week 2 of the 2011 season. The year before, Charles won the FedEx Ground Player of The Year award, and earned himself the title of one of the best RB's in the NFL. He won't be slept on because of his injury, but it won't matter. Jamaal Charles will lead the AFC in rushing yards.
4) The Chiefs Will Be the AFC Champions-
via oi54.tinypic.com
Although the Chiefs had season ending injuries to our starting QB, RB, SS, and TE, the Chiefs still held a 7-9 record, just one game away from winning the embarresing, AFC West, With a fairly healthy roster, a good Free Agency, Draft, and a fresh start Head Coach, the Chiefs will win the AFc West, by a good amount. I have the Broncos and Raiders both struggling, and the Chargers having a good year, but n ot as good as the Chiefs. The Chiefs WILL be the 2012 AFC West Champions, and that is the truth!
5) Kendrick Lewis will emerge as a top tier starting safety in the NFL-
This prediction will depend on certain peoples opinions on Kendrick Lewis by the end of next season, but I see him having a great season, and emerging as a top tier starting safety. This past season, Lewis was consistently good, but I think he will be consistently much better.
6) Jonathan Baldwin will improve to a good, physical WR-
When I say a "good" Receiver, I mean good, not great. I see Baldwin having a good year, let's say 60 receptions, 700 yards? I think he will develop into a great WR, but not next year. He's going to be a late bloomer. He'll still give the Chiefs a good triple duo at the Wideout position, but he'll still have some room to improve.
7) Tyson Jackson's Production Will Decline, and will only share time at the position-
When the Chiefs drafted Tyson Jackson with the no. 3 overall pick in the 2008 draft, he was supposed to make an immediate impact. Although he has been slowly, and not surely, improving, to me it has not been enough. He had a decent year in 2011, but I see his production going on the decline next year. Allen Bailey, the chiefs 2nd year DE will then share time with Jackson, and eventually take his starting job. I hate to say this, because I always had a soft spot for Tyson, but I think next year may be his last year as a Chief.
8) Kyle Orton Will Look Like The Answer For The Chiefs-
via l.yimg.com
Kyle Orton may not be a Chief next year, and although I'd rather be predicting something about Peyton Manning, I don't think that'd be too realistic. Orton had a very convincing last (first for him!) 3 games as a Chief, going 2-1 and defeating the then, undefeated Green Bay Packers. With Charles back, giving him a good running game, and having time to connect with his receivers, Orton will look like the answer as the Chiefs QB after the 2012-2013 season.
9) The Chiefs Will Finish the 2012-2013 With an 11-5 Record-
My prediction, is that the Chiefs will Struggle on the Road in the regular season, but Still finish with an AFC West Championship, and an 11-5 record. That is definitely a plus, considering the Chiefs got blown out way too much in 2011, and were only 7-9 at the end. An 11-5 record won't earn KC a Playoff Bye, but a Playoff Berth will be alright for me! And that's what I can see happening.
10) The Kansas City Chiefs Will Win Their First Playoff Game in 18 Years!-
via stevesword.com
Yes! We Win a playoff Game! Yes!!!!! I have the Chiefs finishing at 11-5. I can see the Chiefs playing in the Wild Card weekend round of the Playoffs, and then winning 2 games, and going to the AFC Championship. It'd be way too much of a longshot to say we'd make it to a Super Bowl in the Blink of an eye, but Let's not go that far. I think 2012, will be the start of something real nice for Kansas City, and the fans too. The season will definitely be a good one if we make it this far, or even win a playoff game, and I can see it happening.
Some of these are true long shots, but I truly believe in every single one of these predictions I just made. You should Comment with your thoughts, and your own predictions! Go Chiefs!

I think Baldwin will definitely
be the most improved player on our team this year. A good offseason and reps will do him a world of good.

I wonder about J. Charles..
For the simple fact…they will probably ease him back in. And they might cut back carries for the first half of the season..just a thought,
cyberry - February 15, 2012
The last one is almost a sure thing.
Hell we beat Indy in Indy in I don’t know how long. This year is payback against the Colts for kicking our asses twice in playoff games (damn you no Defense and you know who).

Beating Indy in Indy
when they go 2-14 for the season is no great feat….
AnkenyChiefsFan - February 17, 2012
I gotta feeling
Charles is going to fully recover… and break the yards per carry record this time around!
And have two games in which he runs over 200 yards!

Lots of predictions based on immediate return to form from torn ACLs
If Berry made the Pro Bowl next year, and/or Charles got the rushing title, both would be strong candidates for comeback player of the year. I can’t see both of then having immediate full recoveries. Most studies show 18 months to see full physical AND mental recovery from this injury; just no way they both defy medical studies.
I don’t see Orton back here. I would expect Bailey to take over Dorsey’s spot before Jackson’s, by a long shot.
But outside of that, those predictions could happen….or not

Yes, but All 3 of them are already on the field easing back into things and they have the whole spring and some of summer to still easeinto it.
pls, most players come back the next season with a full recovery.
AaronMannicci - February 16, 2012
that is just not true
a lot of players come back, but have a dip in production, especially at first.
Chief-blinders-on - February 16, 2012
Medical advances have turned ACL surgery into a six to eight month recovery, with a full return to form before the one year mark. Usually the surgically repaired knee is stronger than the knee without the surgery. When I had my ACL repaired 22 years ago, rehab times were longer and yet I still was playing basketball in about eight months. It’s true i couldn’t dunk after the surgery, but that didn’t surprise me, since I couldn’t dunk before the surgery either.

charles and mccluster will both have huge seasons under daboll's offensive playbook

You really don't like Jackson don't you
I actually think he will yet further improve next year with a dominant NT next to him. Yes, Paul Soliai is coming to KC. You can all rest easy now.
trentchiefsfan - February 16, 2012
A little confident about Paul Soliai
Huh Trent?
He had so much positive stuff in this post it is hard to razz him on the Tyson Jackson prediction. This was a very optimistic piece, almost feels like I was trying to sell it.
As for Tyson himself, he played well and I don’t understand how people can’t see the improvement in his game. Most of the year he was the only linemen in the Jackson-Gregg-Dorsey fronts that played consistently good. Gregg would explode on some plays and disappear on others and Dorsey didn’t get much push this year, but did play good against the run.
Glenn Dorsey and Kelly Gregg were pushed out of the play often, resulting in big plays. However, Tyson Jackson held up on his side more often than not.
Chief-blinders-on - February 16, 2012
His side was stronger against the run even when Stude was playing SOLB
Once Houston got in there it was just over.
MNchiefsfan - February 16, 2012
So we'll be AFC champions? or AFC west?
tyson_jackson who? - February 16, 2012
afc west, my bad!
AaronMannicci - February 16, 2012
I think most of your predictions are correct if Orton is the QB and we get a RT.
Bowe, Breaston, and Baldwin will have good years. Don’t think Bowe has more than 10 touchdowns. Charles runs for 1200 yards, splitting time with Hillis or Tolbert or rookie Richardson. Moeoki splits time with rookie TE Fleener or Charles but still 50 receptions.
Mustang fever - February 16, 2012
most of your predictions
Why is Orton so all fired great,He threw 2td into the endzone in three games, rest fg’s. He’s going to have to produce a ton of td’s in the endzone to convince me about him..
trchief - February 19, 2012
I voted no,
only on the notion that you just jinxed our chances of winning a playoff game.
XtaC69Chief - February 16, 2012
I like most...
of these but some I have a hard time believing in. I don’t think Bowe gets more than 10 TDs, as the emergence of Baldwin and a healthy TE will take a way some red zone opportunities. I don’t think Charles gets the title either, a lighter workload and the recovery factor will keep him at fewer carries and @ 1200 yards.
I like the division crown and Berry to emerge. Fingers crossed on Lewis.
Well written and thought out though, someone taught you well ;)
Mike Manuch - February 16, 2012
well, Aaron, you've done it now ... crawled WAYYYYYYYYYYY out on that there limb
… and Hammer is sitting in his lawn chair watching, grinning, every prediction already saved for next year’s “Prediction Roast”
disagree about TJax, he’s been awesome and is improving all the time … the rest? well, I hope you’re right on all of them!
upamtn - February 16, 2012
I predict that the Chiefs will lose at least one game. Possibly more.
I predict that we’ll have neither the first nor last ranked offense and defense.
I predict that Matt Cassel will break no passing records.
I predict that someone will get injured and miss at least one game. (Maybe a starter, maybe a bench guy).
I predict that Andy Studebaker will not be named All-Pro
I predict that by the end of the season, we as a fanbase will agree by a vast majority that at least one starter will need to be replaced in the following off season.
I know these are bold and Earth-shattering predictions. But I stand by them all.
TRSChief - February 16, 2012
wow ... clearly the frontrunner for next year's Nostradamus Award!
upamtn - February 16, 2012
It's a gift.
TRSChief - February 16, 2012
do you still have the receipt? maybe you can return it (angelic smile)
upamtn - February 16, 2012
All sales final.
Dammit.
TRSChief - February 16, 2012
What is the Nostradamus Award?
DrewPorter - February 19, 2012
Wrong about Tyson Jackson
That is all
km230015 - February 16, 2012
I like how
Baldwin is going to be part of a “triple duo”…does he have to be ambidextrous to do that or double jointed?
;D
AnkenyChiefsFan - February 17, 2012
Haha
The good ol triple duo, isn’t that the offense Switzer ran at Oklahoma?!
