Good morning! Another unusually full day of Kansas City Chiefs news considering we are in the offseason. Keep reading for free agent talk, more about Kelly Gregg, and a transcript of yesterday's Q&A with head coach Romeo Crennel. Enjoy.

In Romeo Crennel's perfect world, the Chiefs already would have started the process of teaching new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system to quarterbacks Matt Cassel and Ricky Stanzi and some of the other players.

That process will have to wait for a couple of months because of changes to the NFL's collective bargaining agreement.

Crennel Expects Offensive Change, But Must Wait Before Chiefs Can Practice from KC Star

In addition to Crennel, the Chiefs coaching staff is comprised seven offensive assistants, five defensive assistants, two special teams coaches and two strength and conditioning experts.

Five staff members were added, one was promoted and 10 were retained.

"I think that it's a good group; they're good teachers," Crennel said. "They're going to be hard workers, good football people and there will be good staff cohesiveness and we'll be able to translate that to the players in the locker room and on to the field."

While the website didn't include the Chiefs, some fans around here have wondered if Manning is not the missing piece for a Chiefs' title run.

Thus, I added Manning to the 2011 Chiefs season and ran the simulation. Playing each game at least 15 times*, the Chiefs were just one game better than the 7-9 they actually finished. But as we all know, that one extra victory would have meant a playoff berth for the Chiefs. And it did in this simulation, because the Chiefs finished 4-2 against the AFC West en route to that 8-8 record.

Q: Does that also mean that you're not informed about your injured players?

CRENNEL: "No, now I didn't say that. I said that we can't talk football with these guys. They are rehabbing and they are coming back off of injuries, so we can talk to those guys about their injuries. They can come in and see the trainer, see our doctor, so that we can monitor their recovery, and they are recovering. I can tell you that the reports that I've gotten on these guys have been positive and they are making progress toward recovery. I think all of them will make a full recovery."

The longtime NFL veteran and former Oklahoma Sooner said he hasn't officially announced it yet, but will likely retire after spending the 2011-12 season with the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent the vast majority of his career with the Baltimore Ravens.

After Tuesday's ceremony, he talked about his high school career, his pro career and using his doubters as motivation in a video.

According to our AFC West poll, the Kansas City Chiefs should re-sign Kyle Orton and make him their starting quarterback.

We asked readers Tuesday, who they think should be Kansas City's quarterback. As of 4:35 p.m. ET Wednesday, 35 percent of the voters believed Orton should be the quarterback.

The Chiefs are obviously comparing both Routt's and Carr's skills along with their contract demands.

Don't discount the positive impact signing Routt would create. The Chiefs - who have $62 million in cap room - can virtually lock in two priorities and then concentrate on other needs on the open market by signing Routt now and giving the franchise tag to receiver Dwayne Bowe.

The Chiefs' offense had big plans for Tony Moeaki in his second year before he tore his ACL in the preseason. Although a similar knee injury to Jamaal Charles was the biggest blow to the offense, Moeaki also was a huge loss for the passing game. He should return to be a factor in Year 3. Considering Kansas City is "New England West" with GM Scott Pioli and coach Romeo Crennel, the Chiefs are good candidates to follow Belichick's lead by adding a free agent such as Packers' Jermichael Finley to the mix.

After he was cut, then-Kansas City offensive coordinator Bill Muir said Gaither didn't have "explosiveness." He missed all of 2010 with a back injury and he was slow to respond in Kansas City. Yet, once he was signed by San Diego, Gaither played very well and he is once again considered a potentially top tackle. I could see the Chargers trying to keep him in free agency. Should have Kansas City shown more patience with the immensely-talented Gaither? Perhaps, yes.
