"Matt in Kansas City wonders which free agent the Chiefs will retain sooner, Dwayne Bowe or Brandon Carr. Because they paid so much for
Brandon Flowers (five years, $52.5 million), it probably will be harder to keep Carr. The strategy would be to get a long-term contract with Bowe, then maybe franchise Carr."
I think the prediction most people have is the opposite of that -- franchise Bowe and sign Carr to a longterm deal. I, for one, think they'll get something done with Carr.
What we know about the Chiefs free agency strategy is that they say they want enough cap space to give them flexibility, keep the home grown talent (i.e. the players drafted by the Chiefs) in Kansas City and reward the right type of people.
Carr makes sense on all those levels. So, based on what the Chiefs have said previously regarding free agency, you have to think they get something done with him. If they don't then count me among those who would be confused by their strategy.
But, before we get worked up about this, let's remember that the Chiefs still have about six weeks to get something done. They're always quiet about this stuff so we don't really know where they stand with both those guys.
The fact that there were reports that the team was working on a long term extension with Bowes camp, and Haley had been mocking Bowe causing him to complain, makes me think it’s highly likely that Bowe stays in KC, especially with Haley no longer around.
Topchief1 - February 2, 2012
yah, and if the overall strategy is (and it should be!) to keep our "homegrown talent" then both these guys should get new deals
in theory should be no worries
upamtn - February 2, 2012
I've been predicting this for a while
Bowe gets his long-term deal first, Carr gets the tag if they can’t get a deal done
stagdsp - February 2, 2012
Carr would not be worth the franchise tag for a Corner
Last year it was around $14 million. In no way is Carr going to get 1-year guaranteed at $14 million.
Dagda - February 2, 2012
Not sure why there's a $4 million discrepancy between 2011's projected tag price and 2012's
Dagda - February 2, 2012
didn't Flowers get about 10?
he and Carr should get about the same, I’m down with that
upamtn - February 2, 2012
They calculate it different now
It isnt the top 5 highest paid from last year. It is the top player for the last 5 years I believe.
KSU-Chief - February 2, 2012
What do you mean by top player?
I think I just didn’t understand the phrasing.
mistamic - February 2, 2012
Here is a breakdown of it on NFL.com
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d8247df3a/article/franchisetag-values-will-be-down-across-the-board-in-2012
KSU-Chief - February 2, 2012
Wow, this seems downright wacky.
Isn’t that a classical circular formula? Seems like the tag price for a certain position could get outta whack with the actual salaries at that position really fast. And what if you want to franchise, say, a guard, and there haven’t been any other guards franchised in the last five years? Hoping somebody knows because I’m too busy/lazy to look it up myself…..
Brsrkr - February 2, 2012
STOP! USE YOUR FRIGGIN BRAIN HERE PEOPLE.
Brandon Flowers is EXCELLENT in man to man coverage. Brandon Carr is better than average. They both play zone well and can stop the run too. That being said, Carr is NOT worth the franchise tender for his position which I just read was about 10 million. NOT WORTH THAT i’d rather see Jalil Brown step in for 1/10th the price. Now, D.Bowe’s franchise tag is worth 14 million, which would make him the highest paid player on the team and deservedly so. If you can’t get a deal done w/ Bowe you franchise tag him. Carr will never get the franchise tag he’s simply not worth it. I faithfully predict both deals get done within two days of each other. Keep in mind they are both playing each other to see who signs first and for how much. I have heard their agents are driving these deals, NOT THE PLAYERS. GO CHIEFS!
JUNG_GUNS - February 2, 2012
I think it's probably easier to make up for one weak receiver with scheme or complementary players than it is to make up for a weak CB.
Brsrkr - February 2, 2012
Had a friend say the same thing to me yesterday...
But let me phrase it a little differently and see what you think. Is it easier to:
1) Find some one to go with Flowers, Lewis, and Berry, that would round out a secondary, or
2) Add someone to Breaston and Baldwin to make a top level recieveing core.
Normally I would take CB over WR, but in our case, I have seen what our offense looks like without Bowe. After struggling for year to find a legit #2 WR, I am NOT anxious about starting to find a new #1.
juvatbull - February 2, 2012
True, we looked horrible without Bowe.
But the times we lost him, we weren’t prepared to be without him.
You can gameplan around a group of receivers because the offense has the initiative 9 times out of 10. Don’t have three good receivers? Fine, put a Gronk/Hernandez out there, or throw Charles the ball. But with a CB, a competent OC and QB are gonna put your weakest guy on an island pretty often no matter who you’ve got surrounding him. Berry and Lewis can’t come over to help out a CB without leaving a pretty obvious hole somewhere else.
Brsrkr - February 2, 2012
THE FRANCHISE TAG ISN'T PERMANENT!
The franchise tag is often used to retain the rights to a player which the team is struggling to get a long term deal ironed out. See Tamba Hali. You franchise a player to keep him from the open markets and continue to work on a new contract. Therefore, it isn’t about if the player is worth it at his position. It is about keeping him in town and trying to work out the problem. Besides, it isn’t like we are lacking in Cap space…
xhornetsx - February 3, 2012
I think the threat of the tag works in their advantage.
Neither player knows who they’re going to use it on so both are forced to at least negotiate in good faith. Carr already knows what it’s like to play on a one year deal and it was obvious he wasn’t thrilled about that and the threat of it happening again might be enough to get him to sign a deal. That works in the Chiefs favor too because I think Carr is definitely the safer pick if you were choosing who you wanted to give a longterm deal too.
GenericBrand - February 2, 2012
This
mushin - February 2, 2012
Also taking it a step further and looking ahead
It’s not impossible that whoever gets tagged this year, could potentially get tagged again next year because other the Albert we don’t have any big losses looming.
GenericBrand - February 2, 2012
I think part of the new CBA is that you can't tag the same player twice in a row.
A little busy with work atm, so can’t provide a link. But if memory serves (memory failure is always a possibility) – it just can’t be done now.
TRSChief - February 2, 2012
It was discussed but thrown out
Unless a player has it in their contract stating otherwise like Nnamdi and Fitz did, then you can frachise a player as many times as you like.
GenericBrand - February 2, 2012
wrong
It is a maximum of two years consecutively. Not as many times as you want.
xhornetsx - February 3, 2012
YES YOU CAN TAG A PLAYER TWO YEARS IN A ROW.
The Saints are about to do it to Drew Brees if they can’t get a deal.
JUNG_GUNS - February 2, 2012
Yeah they do. Carr knows there is no way they tag him.
According to footballoutsiders, the projected franchise tag is $10+ million.
Dagda - February 2, 2012
If they can't get it done with Carr, does Kirkpatrick become the pick at 11/12?
mushin - February 2, 2012
Even if they franchise and trade Carr
I don’t see them picking a CB in the first round. Perhaps the second or third.
Most likely the Chiefs would sign a free agent CB and go with Brown, Flowers and Arenas as their top three CB’s.
Though, I am hopeful that they sign both to long term deals around the start of free agency, after the two sniff around other offers. Both of their deals are going to be huge. Especially Bowe’s, but his down year helps his price a little bit.
Chief-blinders-on - February 2, 2012
I agree it would be a luxury pick, but...
I love having a secondary that can shut down an opponent and give time for the D-Line to get there. If they do somehow let Carr slip through their hands (God forbid), I hope they invest with a high pick to keep a good thing going on the back end of that defense.
mushin - February 2, 2012
disagree
If the Chiefs are forced into franchise-tagging Carr, they have to consider Kirkpatrick in the first round then repairing the O-line in the second round. Corners of his size and speed are rare. obviously the first choice is get the deal with Carr done.
TheValleybetterthanPAC12 - February 2, 2012
That's fine
But I don’t foresee a situation where they lose Carr.
I think he is priority number one.
Chief-blinders-on - February 2, 2012
agreed
stagdsp - February 2, 2012
We can only hope
TheValleybetterthanPAC12 - February 2, 2012
I would like the Kirkpatrick pick.
But would Pioli be willing to overlook his recent mishap?
mistamic - February 2, 2012
Depends what they think about Brown
Also this draft is decently deep at CB and there are some attractive prospects in rounds 2 and 3
GenericBrand - February 2, 2012
Draft includes and is not limited to guys like... Clairborne and Kirkpatrick in 1st.
then… Dennard and Jenkins 1st or 2nd; then Minnifield and Gilmore in 2nd.
then …Johnson (Ia St), Johnson (Mont), Boykin (GA), Banks (MsSt), Judie (A&M) in 3rd.

I think Carr has the upper hand here
There are a lot of teams that need help bad at the CB spot so he could leave and get a bid payday.
Bowe is a top ten WR, but he does have the drop issues so I think it will be easier to re-sign him.
KingChief - February 2, 2012
Considering that Carr plays opposit a very good CB and plays behind a D-Front that does not put on a lot of pressure the guy has done well for the Chiefs and will be rewarded.
By Chiefs or someone else.
CatChief - February 2, 2012
Have to admit
I thought someone hacked into my computer when I first saw the ad,..like gay porn ad or something
tomachop - February 2, 2012
One way to handle Chiefs free agents Bowe and Carr...
PAY THEM!!! $$$!!!
ArrowDread - February 2, 2012
nah, too simple ... we need something much more complicated or we won't have a basis for discussion here
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Reading this thread people are half and half about who
should be franchised and who should be paid. What that really says, me thinks, is that AP actually agrees that both need to be kept. Now how we do the keeping will be the interesting part. And I don’t think we’ll be finding out how for a while.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
as mentioned by someone above, just bargain in good faith with both of them ... give 'em some money and move on
hate the franchise tag and would not at all like to see it used for either of these guys … it leads to long, drawn out and usually acrimonious sessions that often end up with the player leaving soon
that said, we have plenty of time … we’re all just sitting around wanting SOMETHING to type about, otherwise we’d be bored from the lack of anything actually happening and we’d resort to commenting about ads or something
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Agreed
And the day we get into entire non-sequitor threads here on AP, will be the day that multi-nationals get tax breaks here in the US as somehow a way to help the economy…. oh wait… never mind.

upamtn - February 2, 2012
Wait, what?
Keurig isn’t instant, like powder or freeze dried coffee… it’s ground coffee packaged in a single-use pod, no?
DC_ChiefsFan - February 2, 2012
True
Different definition of “instant”…no portions to worry about, no filters, to measuring water, etc…just pop in the pod, push a button and you have coffee.
chiefsandcigars - February 3, 2012
I do not usually endorse idea of Tagging a player. In this case tagging either (CB and WR) the
players come out rosey for them. They will be guarantied about what they are worth with ability to test the market again in a short while. It would be in Chiefs interest to either lock them up now or let them go and grab a replacement now.
CatChief - February 2, 2012
I think Carr is more likely to walk than Bowe
We can pay Bowe #1 wide receiver money because he’s our #1 wide receiver. But Carr’s a #2 cornerback, do you really want to franchise a #2 cornerback? He’ll get paid higher than a #2 cornerback as well. I’d prefer to keep Carr over Bowe but the value for what he’ll likely want to be paid just isn’t there.
Sam D - February 2, 2012
I like Bowe but....
If I had to choose, Id rather keep Carr. Bowe has been very inconsistent during his career here.. Has had some MAJOR drops that helped decide games…he makes a spectacular catch, then drops the one that hits him right in the chest…Carr has manned his position well. I like the fact that we have 2 VERY GOOD corners….Since we have Baldwin now, and breaston…we could add another cheaper reciever to fill the hole Bowe leaves and save that money to fill another position
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Bowe is a top 10 WR.
He’s a better talent than Carr. He can dominate and take over a game. I don’t understand people that fail to realize this. People put too much into a few drops. For every drop he makes, he has 5 amazing catches. The good far outweighs the bad. I don’t want to lose Carr, but Bowe is far more valuable.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
Last year, yes.
This year, not so much.
CatChief - February 2, 2012
Everyone agrees that Bowe is top 10
and it’s not about how many drops per se, but more that his drops come in key situations
KingChief - February 2, 2012
Not trying to cause an argument but...
I can’t recall these key situations.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
The TD drop in the Raider game this year
TD drop in the Colts game last year. Just a couple examples for you
KingChief - February 2, 2012
Allow me to retort.
The game tying TD catch in the same Raiders game. The absolute beasting in the Colts game this year, one catch could be considered one of the best of the year.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
I want Bowe to stay
just saying he does have key situations when he drops the ball
KingChief - February 2, 2012
He has had a few.
People are easy to forget all the plays that he makes to keep us competitive in games with a chance to win. The good outweighs the bad by a wide margin.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
Sign Bowe to a long term deal, franchise Carr
Bowe has been much more consistant than Carr throughout his career, let Carr prove himself one more year.
Or friggin sign both, lord knows we have the cap room
craig in calgary - February 2, 2012
Bowe consistant??
we totally disagree…..he has improved, but he still has way too many drops…..game changing drops….and its usually the “easy” catches that he has the problem with….i dont mind a drop here and there; it happens….but its WHEN he drops them.
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Oh stop it
He has the most drops because he sees the most balls.
I’m so tired of hearing about his drops. Every year the WR’s who have the most drops are the best WR’s in the league. It’s just a statistical thing. He doesn’t drop any more or any less balls per attemept than anyone, it’s just confirmation bias.
craig in calgary - February 2, 2012
We lead the league in drops just 2 years ago
and bowe was the leader on that recieving corp….like i said, he has improved, but, when its 3rd and 8 and your #1 reciever drops a pass that hits him right in the numbers for a first down, it kills the drive, momentum….
Its not a HUGE knock on Bowe….all im saying is Carr has been more consistant than Bowe, and since we dont have much of a pass rush, we NEED 2 good corners more than we need Bowe…especially since we drafted Baldwin in the first round last year…..if you add Moeaki, and Charles back into the mix, it makes NEEDING to pay Bowe a shitload of money less important…its just my opinion
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
**led**...the league...DOH!
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Before this year.
There was a huge push around here to get rid of Carr because he “couldn’t get his head around.” Consistency is not the argument you need to be making. Bowe has also made plenty of catches in clutch situations, and I can’t think of a drop where i thought, “man if Bowe catches that, we win the game.” Like Lee Evans in Baltimore in the AFC championship.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
Umm the Raiders game in Arrowhead this year comes to mind
KingChief - February 2, 2012
When he caught the game tying touchdown?
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
The one he dropped before that
KingChief - February 2, 2012
Oh.
So the one that tied the game when we needed it most can be disregarded.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
Not at all
but the dropped one was just as important
KingChief - February 2, 2012
I would agree.
My thinking is that if you weigh all the good versus the bad, your scale is going to be weighing heavily to one side.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
the 2010 game in Oakland
if Bowe made that third down reception, KC would have run out the clock and the game would have been over, instead, KC loses in OT.
bansky - February 2, 2012
When Flowers got burned in OT?
We need all new starters… ones that never make a bad play.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
you wrote:
you were just given two examples of receptions, if made, would have changed the outcome of the game. you’re just choosing to ignore them.
bansky - February 2, 2012
The one in Oakland in 2010...
might be comparable. Truthfully, i didn’t recall it. I still wouldn’t compare either to the drop by Lee in the endzone. The bottom line is, neither of those examples warrant discussion on Bowe’s dismissal. He is our number one priority to re-sign. He’s a rare talent and recently has become an extremely polished receiver. Before he got hurt in the last Denver game, he was making Champ Bailey look like a lost rookie.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
i never wrote that it should lead to his dismissal
but you can’t deny that Bowe has had drops that, if made, would have either closed out the game, or put KC in a position to win the game…just like Lee Evans.
bansky - February 2, 2012
ehhh
I guess the 3rd down catch in Oakland would have closed out that game. There’s no arguing that. My issue is with those who are content with Bowe leaving because of his propensity to drop balls in big situations. While you can draw a few examples like those above, it’s just not as significant as others point it out to be. Still no Lee Evans examples, I’ll stand by that one, damnit.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
you might not think they're significant
but I’m comfortable in thinking that Pioli thinks drops that lead to losses are significant. it’s the difference between top-5 receiver $$$$$ (which I think Bowe wants) and top-10 receiver $$$ (which I think Pioli is offering).
bansky - February 2, 2012
I don't think its significant enough compared to Bowe's body of work
and his importance to the Chiefs offense. Thats the case I’m trying to get across. If you are have to reach back 2 years ago to a game that ended up being meaningless in the final result of our AFC west championship, then i don’t think it’s significant. I won’t speculate on what Pioli thinks or what the contract negotiations entail.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
but the dropped TD this year would have put KC into the playoffs
bansky - February 2, 2012
How about
On the next play, Orton throws it out of the back of the endzone and we get a field goal before half.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
again, this debate isn't about Orton or Flowers
you keep trying to shift the impact of Bowe’s mistakes on other players. the point is…Bowe has had drops that have directly led to losses and Bowe has had drops that have had great significance. these are important things to consider when it comes to his contract.
bansky - February 2, 2012
Again,
none of his drops have directly led to a loss. I was trying to make the point that his drop this year against Oakland didn’t lose us the game. It’s ok to bring up other players, this is a team sport. Bottom line, Bowe has had a greater impact in victories, than he has had in losses. It’s not even close. I will not blame a drop in the second quarter where he was sandwiched between two defenders on the outcome of the game. Especially when he was so vital in the fourth quarter of that game, making great plays. He took over at the end of that game, and we would not have been in it without him.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
the drop last season in Oakland DID lead to a loss
so it’s a team sport when Bowe makes mistakes, but when Lee Evans makes the drop, it’s all on him?
bansky - February 2, 2012
Correct
Lee Evans was a bum all year for the Ravens. Bowe was KC’s best offensive player in 2011 and maybe 2010. If you are going to continue to have the drop from two years ago in Oakland be your only arguing point, then i guess Bowe did have a crucial drop. Let’s let him walk.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
please, show me where i wrote that KC should let him walk
you’re the one who orignally stated that Bowe never had a drop that cost a game. he did. then you stated his drops haven’t been significant. many have been. these are the things people who are ok with Bowe leaving are thinking about. these things don’t matter to me. i want Bowe on this team. but those negatives can’t be ignored. most people aren’t even saying let him walk. the majority of people i see want him tagged and if needed, traded to move up in the draft to get a franchise QB. i’ve never seen anyone say he should just “walk”.
bansky - February 2, 2012
Losses are always significant
If the Chiefs go 11-5, they may not have drawn Baltimore for their playoff game, you can’t ignore the importance of some of his drops.
If Bowe hauls in the TD this season, KC would have won the West, been in the playoffs. Those are significant drops.
RickDeckard - February 2, 2012
You can't use this reasoning.
What about the 15 Td’s he did have? Whats the Chiefs record without those?
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
Cant remember what game it was last year
Bowe had the HUGE TD drop that embarrassed him and then he went on to have a great season after that….
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Colts game
KingChief - February 2, 2012
Bowe has never even been in a game of that magnitude
to compare it with Lee Evans…
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
That's correct.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
If that was your original argument, sure.
But it wasn’t.
RickDeckard - February 2, 2012
I was just commenting on the validity of his statement.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
My argument was....
That if I HAD to choose, I would choose Carr because I think in the long run, he is more important to the team and less expendable….We have Baldwin and Breaston and the 2012 draft coming up…when Moeaki, and Charles return we have a good offensive corp without Bowe….But Flowers and Carr make a very good CB tandem and I dont think you should break that up…IMO Bowe is going to demand big money and those dollars could be spent elsewhere….Carr, only being the second CB…will not demand as much…
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
I look at it as...
Our best offensive player this year? It’s hard to pick someone else other than Bowe. There’s an argument between him and Charles in 2010. Maybe you make an argument for Albert this year?
Flowers24 had a fanpost the other day and it asked a few questions with the last one being, “Who’s the best player on the defense?” I didn’t see any responses that had Carr in it.
I love me some Brandon Carr, but Bowe is a critical component to our offense and is hitting his prime. He is a true number 1 receiver that demands the attention of any defense. That’s a hard thing to to acquire and to let go.
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
I wasn't commenting on your statement.
I was commenting on the guy who stated that Bowe hasn’t had drops that have costed KC the game.
RickDeckard - February 2, 2012
you mean "cost KC the game"
JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012

JayhawksNChiefs - February 2, 2012
don't want to choose
we have the cap space lets get a deal done for both.
tomachop - February 2, 2012
OK, seriously, the ad for "Delocated" needs to go away.
A guy wearing nothing but a ski mask and his skivies was bad enough just at the top of the page… now it’s on the top, both sides and has an ad in between the front page articles.
Tomahawk29 - February 2, 2012
agreed!
You beat me to it
GaryfromIA - February 2, 2012
AdBlock is your friend.
TRSChief - February 2, 2012
I was just about to say that.
Knightwolfbr - February 2, 2012
I know ads pay the bills
but geez,.. if you saw this for the first time on AP….
tomachop - February 2, 2012
I can't be productive at work with this on AP !!!
GaryfromIA - February 2, 2012
I don't know about you guys
But that Delocated ad is starting to upset me.
Also, please keep Bowe and Carr.
Thanks
Brad-KC - February 2, 2012
don't look at it ... I mean, did you come here to look at ads or did you come to talk football?
upamtn - February 2, 2012
I came for Sexassasin's pics
Which I haven’t seen in a good while. Altho the one from the beer thread will tide me over for now :)
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
hmmm that really can be taken the wrong way huh?
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
you haven't checked the "new logo" thread, have you?
upamtn - February 2, 2012
nope. But I take that to mean I should.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
Its not better than the beer thread
but it certainly has potential.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
The beer thread was good
Even if I"m not a beer drinker… I know gasp… horrors…. ‘You must not have tried the right kind", "here let me ’really’ introduce you to beer.’ Yup heard it all. Sorry. Just dont’ like beer. A good glass of wine, I’m a huge fan of Malbec’s, and I’m all in. Or come the spring, give me a Dark and Stormy. It just cracks me up, that so many folks think cuz I don’t like beer, they are the ones who will correct that flaw. I’m 36. It aint’ happening. And I’m ok with that.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
You probably enjoyed "Sideways"
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
Nope
It kinda bored the hell outta me. Don’t make no assumptions just cuz I enjoy my wine. Renting bikes and going from vineyard to vineyard in Mendoza Argentina is as far away from Sideways as you can get.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
Wine tours never made any sense to me
Why mess with the bikes and vineyards and such…just find a local hub, plant yourself down with a plate of cheese and a strong cigars, and let the wine come to you
Let the argentinans bike for thier wine…I’m an American dammit!
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
stop whining!
oh, wait …
upamtn - February 2, 2012
That joke's a real dud.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
Hah.
Sitting around waiting for the drinks to come to me also is boring. Travelling, making it an experience, meeting beautiful Argentinians along the way. That’s a blast. But hey we can do things differently.
Even though I know I’m right :)
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
If you find the right place
The beautiful Argentinians BRING you the drinks.
Traveling is for tourists.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
And just checked in there.
Non-sequitors? What? :)
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
I came here to talk football
and maybe some cigars/scotch…
but I keep coming across this idiot upamtn…AP should really do something about this because it is starting to upset me
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
I know ... dud is like all over the place ... annoying as hell!
upamtn - February 2, 2012
And at least Tex self proclaims to be an idiot
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
and Masons has dibs on "imbecile"
we’re running out of appropriate adjectives, but I’m open to suggestions :-)
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Well there's always cuzz or brah...
considering tjax ssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuxxxxxxxxxxx :)
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
that hurts, really it does ;-)
upamtn - February 2, 2012
dud might work
its appropriate, site friendly…“Ups is the AP DUD”…kinda has a ring to it
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
ha! was hoping nobody would pick up on that typo ... should've known better
upamtn - February 2, 2012
I don't miss much...
…when I’m sober.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
hold on. this event in itself call for a major press release ...
upamtn - February 2, 2012
At work
when you work 9 hour days, you end up staying sober/hungover for at least some of it
and on that note, its lunch break time! Gotta get rid of this headache.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
Yep
much better to never leave our home zipcode. I’d rather go out and explore than be one of those folks who that never learns a different perspective (not saying you are), cuz they never have their own culture and ideals challenged.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
IT'S HARD TO AVOID A NAKED MAN IN A SKI MASK. JEEZE
Brad-KC - February 2, 2012
If he is wearing a ski mask...
…then by definition, he isn’t naked, right?
misterbrain - February 3, 2012
Carr's Value > Bowe's Value
Skrappy - February 2, 2012
In the event we Can't keep Carr
I think you have to approach PHI with an offer for DRC
SillyHatDay - February 2, 2012
I like your simple ABC approach, but the NFL might pull an FCC or an FBI, then we'll have to resort to CIA and call the FAA for our high-flying offense
besides, who can get thru the DOD that’s going to be as simple as 123 … see what I mean here?
upamtn - February 2, 2012
PBR me, ASAP
That being said, DRC is a good fallback option
stagdsp - February 2, 2012 via mobile
They play completely different styles, I don't see the trade-off.
Carr is big and physical, but has enough quickness that (when he gets his effing HEAD TURNED) he’s highly effective as a “man” corner and as a Cover-2 type.
DRC is primarily a man-coverage corner; his size numbers are similar but his game is not.
Not sure how he’d fit here…I’d see KC drafting a new corner first if they had to. The primary objective: Lock them both up—we have the money, after all.
go_saleaumua - February 2, 2012
i guess im lucky im on my mobile and can not see the add everyone's raving about
CHIEFFAN82 - February 2, 2012 via mobile
Jeez....this Delocated ad is freaking me out!!!
Actually, I don’t give a crap. Just figured we needed at least one more comment about it.
It’s easy, if you don’t have Adblock or something of the sort….ignore the ad and read the football stuff. AP has to pay the bills, and I for one am glad to have a great, FREE, website to come to and waste hours of my day.
GetRight - February 2, 2012
well said ... nice that some one GETs it and is RIGHT about it in perspective
upamtn - February 2, 2012
I like what you did there.
GetRight - February 2, 2012
Upsetting to see that you think someone's OPINION can be RIGHT.
Personally, I usually have AP up on a work laptop while I work on my desktop. I don’t have admin privileges to install ad blockers on the laptop. I also work with a couple of respectable, married females who come in my office to ask me a question every once in awhile.
It is pissing me off.
Brsrkr - February 2, 2012
well said!
CHIEFFAN82 - February 2, 2012 via mobile
except the part about "wasting hours"
I mean let’s face it, this isn’t wasteful, this is LIFE, right? this feeds our minds and souls … our very essence of existence
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Hmmm....maybe "waste" was the wrong word.
It’s almost like I NEED to check AP every 5 minutes. It’s an addiction that makes me much less productive at work.
GetRight - February 2, 2012
Pioli would NOT be happy to know of this!
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Carr and Bowe
We can’t forget that these players have to WANT to come back to KC. I see both of them wanting to test the free agent waters and see what they can get. I also think Bowe and the Bowe “show” would want a bigger market to play to. So we can throw all the money in the world at either, but if they want to play somewhere else it won’t matter…and we can only franchise one.
GetRight - February 2, 2012
Since we dont put as much pressure on the QB as we would like
you need TWO good corners to cover….thus Carr is more important IMO….
Flowers and Carr would have EVEN better numbers if we had a pass rush and they didnt have to cover for 4-7 seconds on just about every passing down….Hali does a good job, but we need more pressure and push from the D Linemen.
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Houston will be a beast next season
I’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t have 10 or more sacks.
PVChiefsfan - February 2, 2012
that remains to be seen...
it took him a loooooong time to start making an impact this year….I hope he picks up where he left off….
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
he'll be fine but only if we pick up a Sumo Wrestler to play NT position
a true 17-gap kinda guy, know what I mean?
upamtn - February 2, 2012
the NFL has already tried the Sumo Wrestler idea
they also tried the WWF wrestler too.. :-)
Brock Lesnar couldnt make the Vikings squad
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
More like he tried them right?
And failed at UFC also – although not as poorly as kimbo slice.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
Failed???
After very little training he beat the Heavyweight Champ….had a couple title defenses and avenged a loss…..for the amount of time he had, i would say he did pretty damn good in the UFC….not to mention he has a disease that damn neared killed him…twice..
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
and he made a SHITLOAD of money
KCinAZ - February 2, 2012
Granted.
And I’m no real follower, but I feel like his defense (where he lost his title) and his last match, where he retired afterwards, all were over and done with in record time. Not to say I’d ever want to meet him in a back alley.
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
Hey, has anyone seen that Delocated ad?
What’s everybody’s opinion on this?
severn58 - February 2, 2012
personally I think Mike Vrabel will retire, but don't hold me to it
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Depends, if he doesn't like the new logo I could see him staying put for a while longer
But, Peyton should have everything checked out first. Orton>Cassel, Mock Draft, Offensive Coordinator, so on and so forth.
severn58 - February 2, 2012
would we need to repaint the bedroom?
perhaps something more “manly” … with a bearskin rug as an accent
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Delocated wall paper, eh. I can dig it.
severn58 - February 2, 2012
well, I'm not sold on it yet ... pick up a copy of one of these on the way home and we'll discuss, alright?
upamtn - February 2, 2012
The men who pick these up on their way home
probably enjoy the delocated wallpaper to begin with.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
Hard to put my finger on the pulse of the readers regarding this
Since nobody seems to want to address it.
TRSChief - February 2, 2012
That, and who our new OC should be. I haven't even heard of any human options yet!
Jesus Christ, why do hillbilly Chiefs fans avoid the hot button issues so?!
severn58 - February 2, 2012
The real mysteries to me are what people think about the possibility of Manning coming to the Chiefs
And what should be done about the QB position in general.
I just can’t find anything on those topics at all. It’s really frustrating.
TRSChief - February 2, 2012
Would you rather talk about Tim Tebow?
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
Who's that?
Eastcoastransplant - February 2, 2012
Well it'd be nice if the poor guy could actually get some airtime devoted to him
Guy’s working his ass off and he’s still a complete unknown.
TRSChief - February 2, 2012
"Uh, do you think it will be Bowe? Because I...I mean, the team...needs Bowe BAD!"
Let’s call him M. Cassel. No, that’s too obvious. Matt C. Yeah. Matt C. has a question.
The Gentry - February 2, 2012
hahahahahahahahahaha!
upamtn - February 2, 2012
Franchise Orton.
Let Bowe and Carr walk.
Tarkus - February 2, 2012
haaaaaaaaaaa!
upamtn - February 2, 2012
that is so stupid,
it is brilliant… they’ll never see it coming
Chief-blinders-on - February 2, 2012
Kind of like the 3rd and long draw play.
Tarkus - February 2, 2012
I am pretty sure EVERYONE saw that coming
this is more like a quick slant to Bowe on first and 10.
chiefsandcigars - February 2, 2012
One path to a Superbowl
Every team that makes it to the Superbowl has some completely dominating aspect of their team that is leveraged to the maximum. I think the Chiefs have one – the combination of Flowers and Carr on the corners. Plus, they are friends and have developed a sixth sense between them. There is no team with a combination like that, and I believe that Crennel knows how to use them with Berry and Lewis and use the best secondary in football to beat a path to a championship. If Baldwin pans out, our receivers might be close to being upper tier, as well. Having only a decent QB for the foreseeable future indicates to me that Carr will be signed, no question. But having a totally dominant group like the secondary, and two nearly dominant groups like receivers and linebackers tell me that we could be close. Add in Charles, Moeaki and add someone decent at RT, and depth at TE and RB, and I can envision rings in the future. I am sure that Pioli and Crennel know this and are not going to throw that away. I see us signing both Carr and Bowe to long-term deals. You can win divisions with a sound team top-to-bottom, but you have to have one or two completely DOMINANT position groups to win a league championship.
Bilyous - February 2, 2012
I see them
…franchising Bowe and taking their chances with Carr. Carr is good but he may be overpriced in CB market and they may go for a Minnifield or Gilmore in 2nd.
FrankPitts - February 2, 2012 via mobile
I agree
AnkenyChiefsFan - February 2, 2012
Flexibility to do what? Sit around and count the millions on a Saturday night like Mitt Romney does! Or wait I know, flexibility to buy some high tech spy gadgets!!!!
