The Kansas City Chiefs have hired former Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi confirmed Friday night.

New England Patriots guard Brian Waters doesn't think it's a difficult choice between former Chiefs offensive linemen Willie Roaf and Will Shields for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
"You choose them both," said Waters, a teammate of both Roaf and Shields during his career with the Chiefs.
Shields, a right guard, and Roaf, a left tackle, are among the modern-era finalists for election today into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. They were pillars in one of the NFL's most productive offensive lines for the Chiefs in the early 2000s.

If baseball is our national pastime, then football is our version of the Gladiatorial games. From that perspective, there's something that feels right, almost natural, about co-opting Roman numerals. And while thankfully the present-day game is nowhere near as savage as the death matches that occurred in the Roman Coliseum, football is definitely where we get our aggressions out. The NBA and MLB seem almost genteel by comparison.
Personally, I look forward to many more years of the invented tradition of using Roman numerals in the Super Bowl. It may be borrowed interest, but as far as I'm concerned, it's on-brand.

Still would’ve been pretty cool, but maybe not great long term.
Not entirely sure how I feel about the Daboll hiring yet. Gut reaction was “aw dammit”, but I try not to live in Knee-jerk Land. Need some time to digest it I think.

Cleveland Daboll looks like baby Haley. Miami Daboll looks like baby Bruce Arians.
Surprising running game, smart, creative formations, adequate to good passing game….
Also, as much as everyone (DTR especially) references Daboll and Colt McCoy having major issues in Cleveland, I’d like to point out that without Daboll lighting a fire under his ass his passing took a real nose-dive this year.
Dunno, I see some positive but I also recognize that hiring Daboll could set us back to ‘09. Depends on the staff that’s retained and how he’s grown in his own skin as a playcaller and motivator.

He’s got 4.5 speed, good hands and he wants to get better….you’d think someone would have him at the bottom of their roster, right?
I remember the years when we trotted out the Larry Parker’s of the world, and hoped for the best….Verran is easily better than that.

But far be it from a no-nuthin po hillbilly like me to judge Grand Wizard Todd FREAKING Haley’s decisions in keeping Horne and cutting Verran. And then the coupe de mainof cutting Colbert, but keeping his boy, Urban. OTOH: I have to question why nobody else even gave Tucker a chance at their PS, while plenty of other WR’s have been? Oh well, I’m still pullin for him. Gooo … Golden Bears!

I am good with Daboll.
I think he has the potential to be one of the top OC’s in the game. Did a magnificent job with a Miami team with far less talent than the Chiefs, and a QB who might be almost as bad as ours.

Maybe they hired Daboll
to implement our young QB Stanzi into his system. Matt Moore showed alot of potential as the QBOTF for the fins. We have to find a way to hang onto Zorn to groom Stanzi. Cassel has already proved his ceiling is underneath him. … Daboll may be a good fit for our 5th round draft pick …Just a thought
