Willie Roaf is going to the Hall of Fame. That feels good to say. Roaf didn't spend his entire career with the Kansas City Chiefs but we still claim him as one of our own so this is a great weekend for Chiefs fans.
Chiefs owner Clark Hunt weighed in on the announcement that Roaf was Canton-bound.
"On behalf of my family and the entire Chiefs organization, we are thrilled to congratulate Willie Roaf on his well-deserved selection to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2012. Willie is one of the finest offensive lineman to suit up in a Chiefs uniform and is worthy of this extremely prestigious honor."
11 Pro Bowls. Four-time AP All-Pro. Member of two All-Decade teams. Yeah, I'd say he's worthy of the honor.
"In his four seasons with the Chiefs, Willie anchored one of the best offensive lines in the National Football League," Hunt said. "Today's announcement solidifies his place as one of the greatest offensive lineman in the history of pro football."
Years later we now know how spoiled we were to get Roaf. He came to KC when he was 31 years old and coming off of a season-ending injury. It was a risky move, yes, but one that clearly paid off.
Congrats to Willie Roaf. Well, well deserved honor.

It's funny...
If I remember correctly, Roaf was the one who talked Shields out of retiring so they can come back for one more year only to see Roaf retire before the training camp. Roaf and Shields should have made the HOF TOGETHER…because I never saw a grown man like Ray Lewis (mic’d up) bawling his eyes out about how he was double teamed on every play on MNF in 2004! Shields OWNED him! LOL!
Anyway, congrats on your HOF, Roaf, and thanks for the most memorable offense I ever saw for the KC Chiefs.
