The New England Patriots and New York Giants are only hours away from the kickoff to Super Bowl XLVI. Game time is at 6:30 p.m. ET and it will air on NBC.
This will be your open thread for the game (I'll bump it up to the top of the home page closer to kickoff). Here is the essential information for this year's Super Bowl:
Finally, give us your Super Bowl predictions in the comments. Joel picked the Patriots a few weeks back and I'm going to say the same. I think the Patriots beat the Giants in another classic Super Bowl, 30-27.
Who do you think is going to win this year's Super Bowl?

Gut says Giants
Head says Pats…..35-31
ottawachiefsfan - February 5, 2012
I was gonna say literally the same thing, minus the score
This is the first SB in as long as I can remember where I don’t have a clear fav for the game.
RamX21 - February 5, 2012
agree, but i see more of a 23-17 type score
SDChief - February 5, 2012
giants 27 pats 23
KCKENNY - February 5, 2012
It's funny
Everyone and their dog says Giants, and I said it for he last 13 or so days, but i’m going to take the Patiots.
I keep hearing Giants are the hotter team, well Patiots have won 10 straigh games, not sure how much hotter you can get than that, plus the Hoodie has 2 weeks to prepare.
I bet a couple shillings on the Patiots +3 and parlayed the under (55)
Lower scoring game than thought 27-21 Pats
craig in calgary - February 5, 2012
that and I bet Brady and Bill still have
the taste in their mouth of them ruining the perfect season a few years back, and with his performance in the AFC Championship game I look for Brady to have a big day today
banshee_01 - February 5, 2012
Is this your 5 star lock craig
bury the book day , because the casino never lose
niageriannit1 - February 5, 2012
Haha i have no lock
Smart pick would be to take the Giants and the points, I just have a gut feeling which is never a good idea. The easy money is O/U on amount of times they show the Tyree catch is at “1”. You’re welcome :)
craig in calgary - February 5, 2012 via mobile
What's the O/U on showing Peyton?
Tarkus - February 5, 2012
Im going over 50,000

Supporting my feeling that this is going to be a great game.

LadyChief - February 5, 2012
Why talk about his hair when somebody puts photos of him on here?
Why not talk about his wife. Then somebody might put photos of his wife on here. I’d rather see photos of his wife than photos of him.

SDChief - February 5, 2012
Giants 24 Pats 21
Lawrence Tynes game winning FG as time expires.
electriclight - February 5, 2012
I think Giants win
ChiefWarPaint - February 5, 2012
I'm torn on this one ...
I absolutely DETEST the Patriots, I hate them … no, I loathe the Patriots (abhor is too mild a word) but I would like to see #54 get his ring, but Belichick, Brady and the gang can lose by 100 and I wouldn’t be upset
upamtn - February 5, 2012
quick!
get waters on the giants asap
KC Nate - February 5, 2012
This Super Bowl is the most anti-climactic I've seen in years
His Royal Greatness - February 5, 2012
Hoping for Waters and Woodhead to both get rings
So Patriots it is.
Chief Willie Wildcat - February 5, 2012
Woodhead???
C’mon man!!!!
ExRoyalsFan - February 5, 2012
Silly name
but I was in western Nebraska when he was playing HS ball in North Platte. Then followed him at Chadron State. He’s truly one of those small town boys that made the big time. He deserves it.
Chief Willie Wildcat - February 5, 2012
I am a Northwest Missouri State Bearcat alum
We weren’t big fans of Woodhead. It’s Woodhead vs. Tollefson tonight. Should be fun.
ExRoyalsFan - February 5, 2012
On a lighter note...
I hope Jessica Simpson is pregnant cuz she looks like a friggin house. A very dumb house, but still a house.
Chief Willie Wildcat - February 5, 2012
It's a house that I would love to get into
His Royal Greatness - February 5, 2012
I'd like to do the plumbing.

LadyChief - February 5, 2012

Tarkus - February 5, 2012
At least they have something in common
LadyChief - February 5, 2012
They both like kids?
Tarkus - February 5, 2012
She adopts hers
LadyChief - February 5, 2012
Patriots 31 - Giants 30
Chris Olson - February 5, 2012
Giants have good squads on BOTH sides of the ball
Pats cant stop Giants offense…Giants can at least slow the Pats down….Giants win 31-20
Pats have had a cake walk to the Super Bowl …first round bye, cake walk game against Jesus and the Broncos and got handed the game by the Ravens(dropped TD and missed FGs)….Giants have been tested throughout and have a TON of momentum
KCinAZ - February 5, 2012
and the Giants weren't hand their game
by the same guy fumbling 2 punts?
banshee_01 - February 5, 2012
good point
i still stand behind the point i was making though….the Pats have had a MUCH easier path through the playoffs to get to the SB……look at the teams NY had to go through…they are a VERY CONFIDENT team right now…
KCinAZ - February 5, 2012
All the Patsies lovers forget how
friggin’ good the NFC teams were this year. Even the Falcons, who the Giants shut out except for the two the Giants scored for them…
Saints and 49ers could both beat the Patriots. The AFC was down quite a bit this year, and the only top team the Patriots beat was the Ravens, who dropped (or pass knocked out by defender) the game winner.
I think the Giants may be a bit overconfident, but still think they’ll absolutely dominate this game.
neiowakcfan - February 5, 2012
Packers couldn't even beat the Chiefs.
I’m just sayin’.
Tarkus - February 5, 2012
well, OF COURSE NOT!
KCinAZ - February 5, 2012
and that's why I didn't mention
the Packers… :-P
The Packers are a lot like the Patriots. If they aren’t playing with a lead, their defensive liabilities show up big.
neiowakcfan - February 5, 2012
The NFC wasn't that much better.
The NFC has 129 wins, while the AFC has 127. That means that it was one game away from being a tie in head-to-head matchups between the AFC and NFC. So, even though this is the worst the AFC has been in a while, they’re still about even.
And while the Giants have more good wins, the Pats have fewer bad losses. The only time the Pats lost to a team with a losing record was against Buffalo, while the Giants lost to the Redskins twice and Seattle.
Also, the Patriots have a +171 point differential in the regular season, while the Giants are at -6. There is quite a bit going in New England’s favor.
wustl_chiefs_fan - February 5, 2012
The top NFC teams are better...
than the top AFC teams. The Denver Broncos won a playoff game, for crissakes. The Steelers looked old and banged up.
The Patriots got two byes into the AFC Championship game, and were very nearly beaten by the Ravens.
I still contend that New Orleans, San Francisco, and even Green Bay could all beat the Patriots. I guess we’ll find out. I’m baffled as to why New England is favored, and I stayed away from wagering this one. After the easy money on Baltimore +7.5, I’ll just keep my money for next season.
But if I had to wager this one, I’d take the money line and pick New York to win straight up.
neiowakcfan - February 5, 2012
Damn, I am getting tired
of being right all the time.
neiowakcfan - February 6, 2012
I don't care, just hoping for a great game.
saskwatch - February 5, 2012
I'm taking the Giants based on:
1) Giants pass rush not allowing Brady pocket comfort.
2) Giants receivers showing the nation just how bad the Pats secondary is.
Overall, I just want to see a good game. I wouldn’t mind seeing Waters get a ring, but I wouldn’t mind seeing Dave Tollefson get another one.
ExRoyalsFan - February 5, 2012
Lemme just go ahead and spell it out for yas...
Kiwanuka, JPP, Tuck, Umenyiora, Canty.
Brady’s in for some butt-hurt. 27-24, Giants.
ArrowSpread - February 5, 2012
yeah the game will probably come down to a tynes FG
too many bad memories of tynes in kc. I will say the further back tynes is on kicks the better he is. I know that makes no sense, but he tends to shank alot of close range kick inside the 35. Just look at the green bay playoffs game a few years ago.
niageriannit1 - February 5, 2012
Does no one else care about the puppy bowl?
