It's Thursday night. I know many of you have or will make this Thursday night one of your weekly drinking/going out nights. I'm here on our very comfortable couch at the moment, perfectly content to doze off into a deep sleep.
This is your open thread for Thursday February 9th. What are you up to this evening?

I go back to work in 5 minutes
Yay for 30 minute dinner breaks. Day off tomorrow. I hope I wake up and find out our 2 most important free agents are signed =D
SoCalChief17 - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Yeah, Palko and Piscatelli....watch.
THE_TRUTH - February 9, 2012
And why the hell isn't there a pic of our newly acquired (by Romeo) OC, instead of Haley? Hell at least Haley watching a chick eat a hot dog.
THE_TRUTH - February 9, 2012
Lmao, thats some funny shit
TmRoper76 - February 9, 2012
If that hasn't been posted on Behind the Steel Curtain.
Or whatever the steelers blog page is called, then it needs to be posted on there. I’m sure they’d get a kick out of it.
Shank Williams Jr - February 9, 2012 via mobile
On it
I am already a member thanks to them facing both the Chiefs and Jags last year.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
Well when you do
Let us know where exactly you posted it on there so we can see some responses.
Shank Williams Jr - February 9, 2012 via mobile
Posted it in the Fanshots of course.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
Those guys are complete D-Bags too.
On BCC during the week before their game against the Jaguars, every other sentence was about LA. Hopefully Khan put them in their place.
Fun Fact: Everbank stadium actually has more seats than Heinz Field but are tarpped to get it down to market size.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
No, every other sentence was not about L.A. In fact, there was only one mention of it, and it was in the list of question posted in the ask thread by the ask thread author. Anything that came up after that was initiated by a Jaguars fan.
FrankWyt - February 10, 2012
Raiders released Rout. That might help, as far as Brandon Carr isn't as exclusive.

If Matt Flynn goes to cleveland how does that help our chances of moving up for RGIII?
wouldnt that make it cheaper to move up if st. louis wanted to trade the pick? cleveland seems like our worst competition if not washington, take cleveland out of the picture and that seems like a big possiblity to move up to #2 or #3 then doesnt it?
would be a real risk waiting til #3 I would hate to wait and watch that nobody jumps ahead.
just an idea any thoughts?
kc-twitch - February 9, 2012
Not happenin
We know Chiefs are cheap. They will not even think about moving up in the draft before someone else has already beat them to it.
Nathan4288 - February 9, 2012
Tamba Hali, Flowers, Charles and DJ
would like to have a word with you. Tamba Hali is one of the highest paid players in the league. They just like to get the most for less.
They are not going to overpay Carr or Bowe especially when they could draft Blackmon or another WR or get Kirkpatrick.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
If no RGIII and carr wants more than he is worth which probably will happen cause he is over rated to me im all for kirkpatrick.
anyone else see CB prince amakumaru for the giants not doing as good as the hype?
I say replace carr with CB thomas from the giants, coming off an injury might drop his price and is better than carr in my opinion.
kc-twitch - February 9, 2012
Carr is well worth whatever money he gets, he;'s a #1 CB right along with Flowers
and the Chiefs have plenty of money to sign both Carr and Bowe, along with a couple of others in Free Agency
bring back Carr and add Soliai and we have the makings of a Top 5 Defense
upamtn - February 9, 2012
Im all for that:)
And when we upgrade our o-line with DeCastro…. I’m liking 2012
O.C.ChiefsFan - February 9, 2012 via Android app
yesh!!!
upamtn - February 9, 2012
Agree with that, I wish we could have a CB like Carr.
FrankWyt - February 10, 2012
Carr and Flowers make Berry an even more lethal weapon.
I don’t understand why anyone would want to break up our defensive backfield. Chiefs have the money and Carr is worth a dollar more than anyone else wants to pay him. I’ll be pissed if they let him get away.
electriclight - February 10, 2012
I say Bowe, our first and Dorsey could do it then.
Miami needs the picks so I don’t see them trading those.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
Im down on bowe alot but at the end of the day he is a top 12 reciever in the league.
kc-twitch - February 9, 2012
One thing about this year
is that the WR class is deep this year and CB. If Carr wants to leave we can get Kirkpatrick in the first. If Bowe asks for too much, we get Blackmon, Jefferies or McNut.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
I doubt blackman falls past 5 and if we can keep bowe I dont want to spend picks to move up for blackmon.
nobody in FA is better than bowe. jefferies and mcnut dont look like #1 WR’s to me or have anywhere near the talent as bowe i would rather have broyles later than both those guys.
kc-twitch - February 9, 2012
That is what they said
about Gabbert last year. He dropped to 10. Yes he had a bad season but look at who he had to throw to and he had a shuffling O-Line.
Casey Byron Adkins - February 9, 2012
blackmon is the top WR he wont fall to 10 you can bank on that.
kc-twitch - February 9, 2012
the only way blackmon falls past the redskins is
if RG3 is still there. and the draft would have to be
1 luck-IND
2 Kalil-STL
3 Reiff-Minny
4 Richardson- Cleveland
5 Claiborne- Tampa
6 RG3- Washington

upamtn - February 9, 2012
Not me
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
Teams have to spend up to 99% of their cap, correct?
If so, there is no reason at all, that I can think of, for not signing Bowe or Carr, and franchising the other (if not sign both). The money is there and the other core players are locked up. Not signing them, or not trading for equal or greater value would pretty much end all confidence I have in Pioli’s ability to build a championship caliber team. And I have supported him a lot, but anything less than at least a playoff win just won’t cut it for me.
Nathan4288 - February 9, 2012
I think that's next year (99%)
ExRoyalsFan - February 9, 2012
95% next year
89% from 2013-2020.

Im sure theyd love to hear about Obamas “problems” with Congress, “problems” that must not be that bad if he keeps signing the bills they give him.
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
Wasn't Libya involvement UN related?
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
Like 90% of the funding and the bombs cane from America
For all intents and purposes we are NATO.
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
That argument could be made.
What was the best option though? A free country with the chance of a better future, or continuing to turn a blind eye on the situation?

Heh!
Now that’s my fave pic of Crazy Haley. I think I have a similar look and feelings on my face a lot!
LocoLoboChico - February 9, 2012
Anyone hear what Big Ben had to say about Haley?
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
nope, what did he say
upamtn - February 9, 2012
Said he's gotten a lot of emails about him, both good and bad.
He expressed concern about Haley possibly implementing a new offense, but he said he’d reserve judgement until he’s had a chance to meet with him.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
how very diplomatic of him
upamtn - February 9, 2012
Hes worried about a new offense?
I guess he doesnt realize how badly Arians was doing
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
He just said he didn't want to start over.
He said they’d all worked too hard to get where they’re at, to start over from scratch. He didn’t sound too excited, but then I only saw the transcript.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
sounds like poor Benny needs some cheese to go with that whine
upamtn - February 9, 2012
He and Haley don't seem like a match made in heaven.
Both are pretty head strong. It will be interesting to see how that plays out, especially if they go through a period of struggling.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
My dad says this all the time to whiners
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
Lol except what they worked toward was a bad offense
Haley may be exactly what Benny boy needs, it seems Arians was coddling him and The Hamburglar wants to keep his touches in the game up.
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
I'm sure coddling is what he wants.
Though not necessarily what he needs.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
It's simple, we cut the Ben-man.
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
Ben actually wanted Arians to stick around
nateforchiefs - February 9, 2012
I think that's one reason he's not too excited about Haley.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
Tied for 21st in Scoring
they worked hard to tie the Titans and be just below the Dolphins in scoring? Benny needs to work a little harder …
upamtn - February 9, 2012
Oh Im not defending Ben or Arians
I think Ben is the most overrated QB in the league. Returning to smash mouth football and having him throw it less is probably better for him and that team
nateforchiefs - February 9, 2012
Because they moved away from smash mouth football
And started airing it out more
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
Yeah, Rooney wants to return to their roots.

ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
We gonna hire some positional coaches
Or just let the WR and Oline figure it out on their own…Lord knows we need some good coaches in those areas.
Ellard would be a perfect WR coach for us.
Matt_Grbac - February 9, 2012 via mobile
I'm calling Sirianni for WR coach.
I don’t have a clue about OL coach, though.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
I wouldn't be a big fan of that hire
I mean I hope Sirianni gets a shot but im not sure how much he helps our current squad.
If our system was in place and we had a strong coaching staff already I would be all for it. For right now I would prefer a guy who is a veteran NFL WR. Someone that has been 100% WR focused. Sirianni has been all over the place as as a QC guy.
Whoever it is I wish they would do the hiring already.
Matt_Grbac - February 9, 2012 via mobile
I'm not sure whether he'd be good or not.
But that’s who it sounds like they’re going with. To me anyway.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
Yeah u are probably right
I just wanna see our staff as a whole already!!
Matt_Grbac - February 10, 2012 via mobile
As long as they use the porta-potty drill I'm good with anybody for WR coach.
electriclight - February 10, 2012
anyone else worried about our scouting/drafting crew?
with whats-his-name on the Bears now… wonder what’s going on there.
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
Not really.
Most of the work should already be done.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
No way
I want a Mike Mamula pick at #11/12.
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
No way, what?
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
I want a workout warrior.
Screw the game tapes.
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
What does that have to do with what I said?
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
You said the work is done.
The combine hasn’t happened, that is where the magic happens.
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
I said most of the work.
I didn’t say all of the work. And the combine is overrated by a lot of fans.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
I don't put stock in the combine, I was just messing around.
I guess for some niche roles like speed WR it matters, but I don’t care too much.
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
One of the worst combine players ever was Tom Brady.
Who gives a crap how long a guy can broad jump?
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
I care.
nateforchiefs - February 9, 2012
-
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
It's real to me!
BeauJackson - February 9, 2012
Broad jump is important!
It measures how explosive you are. Or how long your legs are.
wustl_chiefs_fan - February 9, 2012
Or you could just watch someone
I don’t know, actually play football.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
Hard to gauge the competition though.
Position by position.
electriclight - February 10, 2012
yeah that's what I figured
but didn’t know if some of those guys would follow him. how much gets done at the combine then btw?
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
I think most of that stuff is secondary
to the actual game footage, and that should have been watched by now.
nateforchiefs - February 9, 2012
Not worried
Its obvious that Pioli controls the draft room. He also still has all his normal scouts and his Joel Collier his assistant GM.
Losing Emery will be tough for Pioli because he knew the system but nothing bad for big picture.
Matt_Grbac - February 9, 2012 via mobile
yeah I wasn't losing sleep over this but just sorta thinking out loud.
sucks in shanghai today kids, need a distraction.
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
Yeah, after three years, it will be easier to plug someone in now.
All the other parts are already in place. I’m guessing he’ll promote from within.
Tarkus - February 9, 2012
Will Shields for OL Coach!!
ChiefWarPaint - February 9, 2012
Somebody on the Mizzou site linked to a helmet history website.
The Chiefs have had only three different helmets. The first was, of course, the Texans:
Then, when we were first in KC, our helmet looked like this:
Then they decided to change the logo a little bit to make our modern helmet:
But the crazy thing is that they even have Division 3 football, even Wash U:
This may be my new favorite site.
wustl_chiefs_fan - February 9, 2012

wustl_chiefs_fan - February 9, 2012

Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
the ONLY slight issue i have
and Wildcat Chief and I were twittering about this as we make some new Chiefs kicks on Nike.ID. Red and Yellow screams McDonald’s to me. Red and White (black) = aww yeah.
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
testing...
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
Yeah, the all red is better.
We should only use yellow when we absolutely need a second color.
wustl_chiefs_fan - February 9, 2012
agreed
made the yellow one just to show how it doesn’t work. already have a pair similar to this in grey suede with red swoosh and accents with 58 and 29 on the heels.
thinking about a 91 and something for these (maybe 50 if he keeps it up)
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
the numbers would be yellow for these
just for the mentioned-below moderately used secondary color
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
but as Johnny mentioned
with Nike taking over, it would be super nice to have them pre-Chiefed on the ID site.
Shanghai_Chiefs - February 9, 2012
I think yellow is fine as a secondary color.
Yellow is to us what red is to the Giants. We use it in such moderation that we’re basically just red. If we started using more yellow I would definitely be opposed.
wustl_chiefs_fan - February 9, 2012
